This is the fourth part of a five-part interview with writer and publisher Robert Kirkman. In this segment, Robert explains what he looks for when people pitch to his comic book imprint, Skybound. Skybound is an imprint within Image Comics that publishes titles like Manifest Destiny, Birthright, Outer Darkness, Murder Falcon, and many more. Robert then goes into detail on what it's like for him at comic book conventions promoting stuff like The Walking Dead compared to his earlier days renting a booth to pitch his self-published books like Battle Pope. - Розваги
I really like the obvious friendship between Chris and Robert. Great videos!!!
Chris doesn't ask softball questions. He gets to the real issues:
Piss.
He really took the piss out of this one, yes. Urine real trouble if you get interviewed by Chris.
06:47- 08:10 is a great Captain America moment. Robert Kirkman remembered who he was before gaining his power and status and is very humble.
After reading a bit of Walking Dead, Oblivion Song, and Fire Power I've come to this conclusion about Robert Kirkman: this is one high class writer
After watching Comic Tropes' interview series I've come to this conclusion about Robert Kirkman: this is one high class man👏👏
Definitely gotta try to meet this guy one day👌 great interview!!
Hillbilly Comics - Everything on this channel is great, not just the interviews.
Defiantly a high class man! Defiantly a high class writer!
If you liked these other three books, I would suggest you read Invincible by him. It’s not only my favorite book by him but my favorite comic series of all time
*Definitely
You should read INVINCIBLE then. I cannot recommend it enough.
I would love to work at Skybound and Image one day. I love all their work.
Do it.
Me too
This has been incredibly informative.
No one EVER does actual interviews in the industry. Especially people who have been through/are in it.
Robert either has a strange sense of humor or is a bit weird about jokes at his expense. Still, nothing but respect.
You're doing doG's work.
I mean, part of it is that Kirkman had always been a very frank person, which makes for great insight. Understandably, many other creatives may not be in a position to be as open with the actual grit of working in comics.
Check out Cartoonist Kayfabe with Ed Piskor and Jim Rugg. They do Shoot interviews with everyone from Tim Truman, Todd McFarlane, Erik Larsen, and Ann Nocenti. Really good content for comic industry interviews.
@@benperkins6657 I'll check that out, thanks
Chris, please keep doing interviews interspersed in your main Tropes episode upload regime. Your ability as an interviewer keeps getting better....and it takes practice. It's not easy content to make. I used to conduct interviews for a local music venue i worked at and it's freakin hard! I absoloutely love your channel and i am rooting for you.
Keep reading comics!
Thank you for this series of interviews. They have been very informative.
I love robert kirkmans work. Invincible and the walking dead are some of my favorite works ever!
These interviews are so good!
Loving these interviews. Keep up the good work, man
I wonder why these interviews don't have more views. Im learning a lot
Thank you so much for this Chris and Robert!
Great interview. Thank you.
These have been great! Solid questions too man, thanks for making these
I would love to work under Kirkman's supervision!!
Loving this interview with Kirkman, Chris! Welldone!!!
These are awesome Chris, such an honest and humble interview
DUDE!!! You are KILLING IT with these amazing interviews!!! Do more!! EXCELLENT WORK!!!!
Love the interviews Chris.
Great interview loved it both of you
I got to meet Kirkman at one of his Astounding Wolf-Man signings wayback when. Very nice guy, took time to talk to everybody. He signed 50 of my comics!
you guys are hillarious. I wish you guys could do this more regularly!
I am really loving these interviews. Keep them coming! :D
I love this channel. Adding the interviews with comic creators and comic shop owners is an additional bonus to the extremely great content you provide, Chris. I’m a fan for life. Excelsior!!
Kirkman interview series was really fun to watch. The only interviews I’ve seen of his are based around TWD or the beginning of Image but not his personal experiences. Seems like a real down to earth guy. Appreciate taking the time to do it.
5th part wwwwoooot. I could listen to you guys all day.
Awesome series! Keep it up!
great interview!
great series, thank you. This is valuable information for any creator, comic or otherwise.
This was a GOLDEN opportunity and you took it xD I love this interview Mr. Kirkman is talking about the darker side of fame and I'm happy that it didn't make him jaded or unhappy like some his a good man.
Love almost everything skybound puts out. Favorites are the Kirkman books, manifest destiny, birthright, and now Stealth
Love this!
I was unaware there is going to be an Invincible series. F yeah, can not wait!
I cant believe I missed Kirkman . Damn 😭😭😭
That’s nice of him to think of the fans.
Welp...I guess I'm second. Love your shit bro keep it up.
❤🔥
I hope one day you do a comic tropes on Geoff John's iconic Green Lantern run
Honestly a vid on Geoff Johns in general would be wild
@@ItsButterBean1020 he thinks on the whole Geoff is sub par according to his comic tropes on doomsday clock and infinite crisis. Which I wholeheartedly disagree. But I would love to see his thoughts on what is unquestionably the definitive Green Lantern run ever
It's Great to see this because I'm pitching Image a series this Fall. Based on a True Story.
Did it get picked up?
@aleph4425 My artist quit. So I never got to pitch it. Just pitching it now.
@@1983jcheatHow did it go?
How did it go man?
Sounds crazy but I'm an artist doing my own writing planning to pitch to image...isbthere a pitch that you've put online or sumthin g?
Hey! Do more of Book "x" you beautiful articulate man!
Thank you, for... you know.... these... you know... interviews with... you know.... Robert ‘You Know’ Kirkman.
Is Tony Moore next?
Nowhere else can you learn about Robert Kirkman's public urination habits.
That was unexpected.
so where's the part where he shares how to pitch to skybound?
I love the interview but it sucks that it was broken into so many parts. Any way you could post the whole thing?
He asked on Patreon how he should upload this interview and the majority wanted it in small parts.
@@Udgrasil13 Oh, I see. Thank you for letting me know. The decision seems so odd, especially since there are so many parts. You’d think one video with a half dozen or so time stamps would work just as well but I guess there are some people that like to cut their steak themselves and some that like to have someone else cut it up for them.
I kinda feel the title is a bit misleading. I didn't really get anything super informative about how to pitch to Skybound. Maybe a few follow up questions about form and how to technically submit. Oh well, there's always the website. Keep it up Chris!! Love your work.
Love Robert Kirkman, just wish The Walking Dead comic had ended better, Outcast the TV show would have had a better fate, wish the Walking Dead show would just end.
Why did people down vote this interview?
Why is this one so much shorter, you should have just combined it with the final part.
The piss talk needed a separate segment xD
From their website, it looks like they don't take submissions, so I'm not sure how this pitch shit means anything anyway.
Chris has Friends Chirs has Friends Everybody come look Chris has Friends!
Keep the urine anecdotes coming ;-)
This interview went to piss real quick
Wait, this didn't cover EVERYTHING? There's mooore?!?
Chris is reaching Larry David levels of awkward questions here.
i think Chris has been struggling to juggle between interviewing Kirkman as a friend and as a professional interchangeably.
first
Point to where he explains how to pitch to Skybound? Extremely misleading title ngl
ign when all this pandemic crap is over:
So mr kirkman, do you still piss like you did in your youth?
clickbait title: the disturbing thing robirt kirkman creator of the walking dead does in the bathroom!!!
Stop talking over him.
Stop commenting like this interview is happening in real time.
... ;)
