    This is John "Lofty" Wiseman.
In this documentary he will share with us, his vast world of knowledge.
    Hosted by: Steve King.
Like many people, i have read this book (The SAS Survival Handbook) from cover to cover and that countless times..
When i had just turned 15, i had my first copy and i am very happy that today i can share this video.
Without a doubt, this book, my interest in nature, and having been a boy scout,
helped me get trough some rough years that are supposed to be my childhood, and a few years after that even..,
i might share on that more, when and if i ever feel like it.
I upload this video absolute gem, because i believe it's far to important to let fade into the "old content" corners of UA-cam., it's price and timeless, so do please share this video.
John “Lofty” Wiseman was born in 1940, and is surviving still at the age of about 83.
Exact date of birth is unknown to me, so i can't tell his exact age today.
He joined the Parachute Regiment in 1958.
He applied for service with the Special Air Service Regiment in 1959,
and was the youngest person ever to pass selection at the age of 18.
He went on to serve in the SAS for 26 years, rising to the rank of Warrant Officer.
Before his retirement Wiseman was also involved in selection courses where he helped decide who was able to join the SAS.
When he retired in 1985 the commanding officer of the 22nd SAS said that:
"Lofty is a legend in this regiment."
    Amongst other things, John was:
    * Sergeant Major, B Squadron (Sabre Sqn) 22 SAS
    * Sergeant Major 22 SAS Training Wing
    * Head of Operational Research 22 SAS
    * Set up the SP Team (Counter Hi-Jack)
    * Set up the SAS Counter-Terrorist Team (who later ended the Iranian Embassy siege in London)
    * Trainer of the first members of the US Green Berets to return to the USA to form the famous Delta Force (US Special Forces).
    His much respected publications include:
    * SAS Survival Guide
(Translated today in 18 languages, and over 3 million copies sold! About 300.000 per year)
    * SAS Urban Survival Handbook (city dweller survival)
    * SAS and Special Forces Self Defence Handbook (CqC/unarmed combat)
    * The SAS Guide to Tracking
    * Who Dares Grins
    * And many more works (see links below)
With years of professional survival experience, "Lofty" set up a survival school "Trueways Survival" in Hereford, United Kingdom,
specialising in all aspects of survival training, land, sea, jungle, desert, arctic, mountains.
There you can also buy tickets to meet "Lofty" even, and various survival and bushcraft courses!
I hope you share this video with like minded people.
I made a few small adjustments to the video,
(Start screen added, host name added, Lofty's instruction to practise the knowledge gained 20 seconds in, and an end screen was added)
, but non of it's contents has been removed.

This lecture was the best survival lesson I've heard to date. Old techniques no longer taught brought to light. Good instruction method, clear and concise. Thanks for offering this on your channel. New Sub.

That's what i thought., best to spread this around as much as possible.., would be a waste if it ends up in the forgotten corners of UA-cam right?
Thanks for your comment and sub!

Thank you! We have plenty of bushcraft - survival "experts" on youtube and TV. And all you need is watch this video and read Lofty book. 🙂

Undoubtedly one of the best educational and instructional videos there is on UA-cam. Thank you for the upload. If everyone watched and learned/replicated this information from the great man Lofty then people WILL be able to survive indefinitely anywhere on the planet. Unlike some of the amateur and sometimes fraudulent/useless/misleading survival "experts" on UA-cam this is the best and most useful.... AND CORRECT knowledge/skills available on UA-cam. Once again thank you for uploading this. Likely by uploading this and people being able to learn the correct things to do in a survival situation you will have probably saved the life of many humans, thank you chum 🤔 😉 🖖🏻 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇬🇧

it is post 1986, that's what i learned from the interview, i couldn't find the info you request sorry. Judging by the footage it's not newer then 1990 my guess

Grt !!

    • @34outdoor
      @34outdoor  Рік тому +1

Super belangrijk inderdaad, blijven trainen, anders vergeet je het gewoon weer ook. “Be Prepared”

great video but he’s wrong about mushrooms. plants have a lot more nutritional value than mushrooms

As this is docu from the 80's, they most likely have changed that in the revised book versions, a revised version was published in 2009, and A third, expanded version in 2014.
Thanks for watching and your comment

@@LooneyBinUKNo - meat is the most nutritionally perfect food there is. Plants DO NOT provide sufficient calories.

@@susanp.collins7834 tell that to Gorillas, Elephants, Giraffes, Pandas, etc.... Meat is NOT nutritionally "Perfect", it is simply condensed, ie...calories. You need to stay out of the woods.
