This is the ONLY drum cover that is almost 100% accurate to the original. You've got a couple little snare flutters added in but otherwise it's identical, most others come nowhere near! Most people forget to double the hi-hat time during the chorus, they forget all about it. Or they play the hi-hat and neglect the cymbals. You nailed that part perfectly!
@@jd0879 I never said anyone else was incompetent. And I know the drum track to this song extremely well, and this is the most accurate cover I've seen.
Holy fuck I totally under-estimated Dave's drumming skills! You fucking killed it dude, Dave would have been fucking proud! I didn't even know he was the drummer on this album, just looked it up after thinking about how sick the drumming on the album is! You never did hear it when he was with Nirvana.
just fucking impeccable! so much of the song shaped from the drums, this is why 90% of rock songs don't exist on the level of Nirvana, QOTSA or Foo, Dave is just a genius drummer and your covers are a testament to how extraordinary it is to find such expressive and creatively ingenius players with the technical focus to nail it so on point. DON"T EVER STOP PLAYING!
My steering wheel knows this song well. Always wanted to see this one banged out on the kit. Nice frickin job. Workout much? If anyone says "you lift bro"? just say yes.
Awesome man! Been waiting to see when you'd cover this given how many other QOTSA songs you've done. Not an easy one to do and there aren't enough good drum covers of song for the dead on UA-cam in my opinion. Honestly a cracking effort, well in!
Thanks man , i made a few small mistakes in it (you can see me shouting and cursing ha) but think it turned out ok. Don't think i would of had the energy to play it again as i was playing a few hours at this stage.
Colm Dowling Haha! I'd wondered that from the sweat before you'd even started playing. There's 2 other drummers, one called Gerardo Saca who covered a live version of the song and a guy called Xevifoo who do the other best covers in my opinion. I've got a bit of a hard on for Xevifoo's cover tbh, it's quite embarrassing/cringeworthy on my part but it's a phenomenal cover. Bit of trivia for song for the dead you might appreciate btw. Dave Grohl used the drum track for the song Slip It In by Black Flag for the main riff of song for the dead. Maybe call it a homage or something I guess!
Honestly think the outro is harder, especially after playing the rest of the song and having to nail that Bonham shuffle followed by a lightning fast roll.
Outstanding cover man! Really like your snare sound too... You also pull some great drumming faces too haha. Definitely checking out your other videos!
I saw John Theodore jam out to this track in detroit at the Fox and quite honestly I keep coming back to this cover because it's as close to the real deal as I'll probably ever get again until I see Queens play again. Love every second of it.
This is a great cover man! Really like the punch in those drums, a little more prominent here than on the original track, which makes for a really nice experience. Keep up the good work man
Man - that was awesome! Great cover. There aren't many good covers of this song out there, but this one is spot on. Your single stroke rolls are very even and the kit sounds great! 👌👍
Bro! I'm a 30 years plus bassist. I wish I could jam with you. Probably wouldn't be able to keep in time with the great Colm Dowling. Lol. Would be fun though.
I’ve only recently discovered your videos, and I know I’m five years late to this one, but man, this is what I came for. This. Is. Epic. Thank you. Your work still matters and it’s still inspiring drummers!
The one I always come back to to see how it's done. Always smashing it out the fucking park mate, this deserves millions of views, this track is an absolute beast to play through and I have since never seen anyone nail it as good as this. Bloody incredible!!
Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 getting back into drums in the coming weeks and months. You've really inspired me to play man. Well done what a fantastic cover and the drums sound excellent!
as a drummer this a common warm up for me and drummer pals, ive never seen someone nail this so hard.
+joel gravell Cheers man
@@ColmDowling Hey colm where abouts are you from are you from australia since you worked with kyle smith?
@@ryanroma5724 based off of the 'fucking hell' at the end he sounds Irish
He's definitely Irish. I believe he moved to Australia about a year ago.

Holy shit, it takes a solid cover to understand how talented Dave is behind the kit. Great cover dude.
+kchandaman thanks man
I mean he did play for nirvana or whatever
@@riseoftherunaways6771 eh their music never really showcased just how great Dave is behind the kit in my opinion
@@riseoftherunaways6771 you mean nirvana or nevermind, right?
100%
Love the sound of your snare.
Irfan Khalis swear
Agree
It's beautiful
haha now i can see how dave grohl OD'd on coffee the man is a machine
great cover btw.
FRESH POTS
Outstanding
'Fresh pots!!' 😂
Dude it's Quentin Tarantino
Is like a QT who is going to rush B

hahaha
He better finish playing before Bonnie gets home.
No, it’s Ólafur Arnalds
Haha, at the end "Fuckin' hell"

in the intro + outro there is only 2 snare hits at the end of every phrase whereas in the cover its being played as 3
It’s okay but I wouldn’t call it note for note. You’re also exaggerating other people’s incompetence
@@jd0879 I never said anyone else was incompetent. And I know the drum track to this song extremely well, and this is the most accurate cover I've seen.
"Fucking Hell!!!!" The one and only right response after the last part!!! HAHAHAHAHA
That fill at 3:11 was tasty. Awesome cover my friend.
Still coming back eight years later. Never gets old. What an excellent fucking performance man
Holy fuck I totally under-estimated Dave's drumming skills! You fucking killed it dude, Dave would have been fucking proud!

Some of his best beats ever are when he was with QOTSA
Good stuff dude. If Jon Theodore ever needs a holiday you could step in. Great cover.
That slight hesitation at 3:53 gets me every time!
Quite possible one of the greatest drum intros of all time. Definately my favorite.
well done! that is the ultimate snare sound to me. great playing too
That was brilliant, well done mate, I loved it - including the (almost) silent "fuckin' hell" at the end!
Hank M Necktie Haha was wrecked by that stage
That intro...
Dedicated to Black Fla's Slip it In

Dude you killed this cover all the way through. A lot of folks talk about the intro but that outro is tough one too. Great work man!
Honestly think the outro is harder, especially after playing the rest of the song and having to nail that Bonham shuffle followed by a lightning fast roll.
Outstanding cover man! Really like your snare sound too... You also pull some great drumming faces too haha. Definitely checking out your other videos!
TheHorseBurger Cheers man , ha yeah I'm prone to pulling all kinds of faces when playing

This is literally the best drum cover I've witnessed my my own eyes
4:33 level up !
Great stuff mate
I just realized how hard Grohl was channeling Bonham on this, it's almost as if he's about to fall off the edge, but just makes it in time.
Love the sound of your snare man!
Your kit sounds great, and you play it brilliantly, great work!
I put this video each 4 o 5 months to remember myself that if you practice you can play any songs you want. Thanks man, you are a master
fantastic. the power of this song is great, the power of the drum, unique. you're very skilled. congrats!
I can feel that you are feeling it and that makes me feel this even more. It is a joy to see you play!!
Timeless intro. Easily one of my favorite drum tracks ever-and my God did you do it justice.
this is so great cause you can see he s genuinely having a lot of fun. Absolutely nailed it. Best cover on the internet.
Great job. That little fill before the "hey!" is so hard to nail, as well as the cymbal crash coming out of the first pause.
This is a great cover man! Really like the punch in those drums, a little more prominent here than on the original track, which makes for a really nice experience. Keep up the good work man
The best drum cover for this song on UA-cam! Congrats!!

Arguably Dave's best song on the album
AMAZING cover! it's crazy how dave does ending part with just a single pedal.
Wow man, I enjoyed so much watching this. You are so good!
Just seeing the precision spots on the snare. Damn.
Love the energy. Well done, mate!

Perfect cover man! Really good job!!
fantastic drumming
Love that there's just a picture of Phil Lynott hiding on your floor.

Aweome cover! Identical. Shows how you realy studied the song. This is the idea. Great

as a guitarist that loves this song especially for the drum part, you f****ng nailed it!
Great cover! I was wandering how you get the song without the drums already in, i.e a drum backing track
Damn dude awesome cant say no more perfect 👍❤😁🎵🎉🎉🎉
four years later and you can still see his moment of "fucking finally" as he finished such an amazing hard song
F*cking beast!!! Keep on rocking, man! Love your covers

killer drum mix bro, really impressive
Wow! So wow! Great cover👏👏👏
Oh man, I'm clueless when it comes to drumming, but even I can see that's some smooth stuff right there. Wish I had a good rhythm :P
