    It is a beautiful speaker and I’m sure it sounds great in person. I am judging this by their Omnia all in one speaker which sounds awesome, especially for such a small package. Sonus Faber makes some very high quality products.

      @@getgappedtv7173 that's a nice setup you've got there! I've also got sonus Faber sonetto frontstage speakers with rel subwoofers. So what kind of rel subwoofers are you using, I assume the stereo rels are running both .1 and high level and perhaps maybe for the Big Daddy you have the .1 on its own 🤔 what's your room size or while you're there why don't you give us the entire setup...

      @@getgappedtv7173 very nice indeed! That's actually a good way of doing it! So the T9s (high-level) gets used for music and movies and the Big Daddy only comes in for movies! I like it. But considering you've gone with the Predator in such a small room, I would've thought you're not getting the full use out of it or am I mistaken? The thing is I have a very similar size of a room (13 by 11.5) and I was thinking of adding a big HT sub, I'm just a little concerned it might be a little too much room-gain for such a small room. Have you experienced any such issues or do you just run you're Predator with low gain?

  • @MasterMark5
    @MasterMark5 Рік тому

    I think you are used to elevated/active bass from your towers, svs ultras, Paradigm founders, etc. I find Sonus Faber as a whole very warm and inviting and never fatiguing, throw in a solid subwoofer to fill in the low end or partially take over the job of bass from the towers say around 80 hz and it sounds even better. 👍

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Рік тому +1

      That very well could be the case, but at the same time they don't really excite the room when it is called for in certain songs. I would say their bass is specifically geared to audiophiles who like lean tight bass. That said, you are absolutely right, just add a capable subwoofer with a crossover point and you can have all the bass you want, with the great detail and clarity of the highs and mids.

    • @MasterMark5
      @MasterMark5 Рік тому

      @@SpecOfTech I would agree it's tight/accurate bass, more musical and just a different flavor of ice cream versus the other speakers, but the midrange and treble sure make up for it. If you ever get the chance listen to the Olympica Novas or even the Amatis they may provide the bass extention or volume you are looking for while also being so much better in the treble/midrange if you can believe that lol

      @SpecOfTech  Рік тому +1

      I understand what you are saying, but I also measured the so called 6.5” driver in my SVS Ultra bookshelves and the Polk R200’s. Both of those measured larger than the supposed 7” in the Sonus Faber. Sonus Faber includes ALL the surrounding material instead of just the basket, which is misleading. They were some of the most embellished sizes I have ever seen in a speaker. At most, they should just include the basket, but in my opinion even that is misleading. I guess I didn’t really explain my purpose of bringing it up well enough. I just meant their measurements were some of the most embellished numbers I have ever seen when it came to woofer sizes.

    On strictly a sound basis, would you rate these or the Legacy higher?

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Рік тому +1

      I would rate Legacy higher. The Legacy have a clarity and full range sound that would be hard to beat at any price point. These Sonetto’s have great high end and midrange clarity as well, but they are more lean on the low end, and don’t extend nearly as low as the Legacy’s. With that said, I’m sure you are aware the Legacy are significantly more $$ too.

    You got what it takes.. you're a natural for making good content! Very much just enjoyed this video.. I actually came across one of your videos before but this is the one that made me subscribe 👍
    My ears are a little sensitive to the High frequencies, that's half the reason why I was attracted to the sonetto's, I find they have a nice soft subtle top end but yet still sound Sparkly 🥳 absolutely loved their sound and the sound of they're Centre channel I might add.Even though I have a full Atmos setup unfortunately my listening room is quite small, probably explains why I went with standmounts + subs as opposed going with towers! Considering you've also got a multi-channel setup, I was wondering how's your noise floor. I don't mean measurements I mean by what you're actually can hear!
    After coming from 2 channel to multi-channel I couldn't believe how much the noise floor risen, It was only when I shielded my cables of length that the noise floor had finally been lowered. Just wondering if you had experienced the same thing after all with me coming from the UK.. it could be a voltage thing! I posted a short two channel sound test video if interested you can have a look at the set up...

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Рік тому +2

      I do have a little noise in my system, but it is just he electrical in my house. I can only hear the noise with my ear close to the drivers of the speaker though. I do use shielded XLR cables and shielded speaker cables for the front stage as well. I had a power conditioner and that didn’t clean it up anymore either. I think as long as you can’t hear it at the listening position it isn’t a big deal, unless you are a diehard audiophile.

    • @totalplonker824
      @totalplonker824 Рік тому

      @@SpecOfTech yeah I suppose I am a bit of a die-hard audiophile! Considering you've got a high-end setup that's mighty forthcoming of you to admit that you can hear a little bit of electrical noise. (shows character 👏)
      No I wasn't referring to distortion coming from the speakers. That's the thing about this electrical interference noise, its kinda hard to pinpoint where it's coming from! In my experience... 80% of noise within a multi-channel setup is actually interference (10% electrical, 10% distortion) and Iam not talking about cross cable contamination but actual EMI/RF interference. When one takes into account unshielded cables act as antennas for attracting radio frequencies and sadly the longer the cable the better the antenna! Probably explains why when I used to disconnect my Heights and Surround unshielded speaker cables, approximately 50 to 60% of the noise used to disappear and of course when I realised this, I started to shield my HDMI cables as well and lo and behold the noise floor had lowered by another 10%. I actually thought I was going to have to shield everything but my noise floor has become so quiet the only thing I'm able to hear now is the fan coming from the freezer department of the fridge, which is obviously located in the kitchen 😁 but if it doesn't bother you well that's great, I'm happy for you but I thought I'd mention it just in case like myself if one's a little sensitive to it, one now knows how to go about it!
      Even though ive got everything going through audiophile grade ISO-TEK EVO3 SIRIUS power conditioner (bolted to the wall within video) with a separate differential, it does help a little with a common mode noise (which caused by RFI) in my experience one wouldn't need to go this far unless one address all the other interference issues first! What I will say... the unexpected benefit having this sort of gear, no more wondering how good the setup is going to sound on any given day! It sounds as good as it can possibly sound and that's not continuously but instantaneously also.

My first upgrade is the center chan, I’m going with the 90c. Currently using a mid-ish grade Onkyo 7.1 100w per chan receiver (TX-NR656). Do you have any recommendations for a receiver to push a 7.1 Founder Series setup? Preferably 4k applicable as well (time to upgrade my TV also 😂). Thanks for the reviews! 👊

      Hi Mike, Great choice on the Founders! My thoughts are, go with a mid tier AVR, with pre outs!. There are some great 7 ch amplifiers out there, for not a lot of money. Tonewinner, (my choice) Emotiva, Outlaw Audio, just to name a few. The difference between just a AVR, and separate power amps are big. If you want to get the most out of the Founders, they like power that a separate amplifier can provide. I have 1-2 ch and 2 -5 ch amps connected to a 11 ch pre. and it just kicks ass!! headroom for days, and dynamics that can be scary. (NAD M17v2, Tonewinner AD1PA 2ch, Tonewinner AD 5180 x 2 amplifiers, 2 - PSA S1512 subs).
