    I want to thank you for the recommendation of the Tonewinner D6000. I've had PB13 Ultras in my theater and was really happy with them but I wanted dual in the lounge. After a quick test in the Theater, the SVS subs are in the lounge now.. they are huge. At first, I wasn't used to how clean the output was on the D6000's. You can feel them but not hear them when tuned a certain way. The D6000's are amazing for sound and output. You can literally feel the weightyness of objects like in the race scene of Ready Player One. From the wheel hitting the tarmac to the wrecking ball swooping past. Those PB13's were $4500 AUD.. each. My wife likes the PB13s in the lounge. I don't lol. I'd happily sell them for D4000's But we all love the Tonewinners. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction 👌

    Thanks for your video. Agree with your speaker award. I bought the 1723 Arendal towers last year and I’m very happy. The rest of my awards/picks for my system last year are as follows. Bought the Rotel RB1572 MKII as my processor and Rotel RB 1582 MKII as the matching amp. Also the Rotel RCD 1572 MKII for my CD player and Bluesound Node for my streaming DAC. SVS 1000 Pros for my 2 subs rounding out my 2.2 channel system. Combined they make Beautiful music. Happy new year!

    Great video my friend. Of course my best audio of 2023 is the paradigm founders and paradigm X15s and anthem 1140 8k and 325 power amp. Did a big upgrade last year and very happy with what I have put together. For 2024 just waiting on the paradigm 90C to arrive and then it's all complete. Thanks again for all the great work you do and the time you spend to put this all together.

      They are wonderful. My living room setup is Founder 100fs, 90c, and studio 60s. I hope Paradigm release a founder on wall surround. Martin Logan motion xt f200 are also great but the c100 center doesn't compare to 90c.

    Nice list! Sounds well thought out.
    Looking forward to your 2024 content!
    2023 has been big for me in the home theater space. Finally decided to start building it for real even though i'm in an apartment, but i'm building for coming house purchase.
    I hunted deals and managed to get 2x XTZ M8 towers (L/R), XTZ M8 Center, 2x XTZ M6(surround) for good prices to start(going to expand in time) which i would consider by best purchases of 2023.
    Also went away from my single sub to 2x 15" Dayton Audio (RSS390HF) diy subs and a minidsp to blend them together.
    Will also try to expand with 18" subs in the future when there is a room to put them in :)
    All in all have been very happy with all purchases and it has been a clear upgrade from what i had before.
    Next in line is an amplifier though and the AD-8300 is at the top of my list there. Sadly i think it would be too rich for me with import taxes and so on to consider the A11.

    I just replaced my Velodyne VRP-12 subwoofer (had problems with the subwoofer ringing at 72Hz and distortion at 80Hz) with Klipsch RP-1000SW subwoofer and I am very happy with my subwoofer. Granted, I'm kind of in the low end of the spectrum with my cheap Polk floorstanding speakers, Insignia bookshelf speakers for surrounds, and Pioneer center speaker that I purchased separately over the years during the early 2010s. I'm going to step up with Klipsch floorstanding speakers with Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers as I am currently living temporarily with my family. And also replace my surround and center speakers with Klipsch as well. I know a lot of people would love to hate on Klipsch, but like you said in the video, I want to get the most out of my home theater system. And speaking of AVR, I'm going to replace my Denon AVR-X3400H with Tonewinner AT-300 with external 7-channel amplifier sometime this year. I still want to start with a processor/amplifier just so I can enter into the world of separates and experience what it's like with my current line of speakers. So yeah, I'm happy with my current 5.1 system.
    And the thing is, I don't want to step into the audiophile territory, especially when it comes to law of diminishing returns. Just enjoy your home theater system! That is all! And hey, I have a Zidoo Z9X Pro for local streaming. Very happy with my purchase. :)

  • @sebna

    There was not much change in my system in 2023 but it was pivotal where it happened.
    Addition of Lumagen 5244 was long time coming and it is a perfect companion for PJ systems. Very happy with that one.
    Emotiva XMC-2 certainly does not disappoint in sound quality department. I will not comment on any other aspects, as we all know how it can be with Emo Pre Pro gear (although stability improvements are constantly made albeit at very slow pace)
    And finally I added two more Zingali 2.10 Home Monitor (towers) to have all base layer covered by these very special to me speakers.
    In 2024 I will be building 4x sealed BMS 18" drivers for 4 corners of the room each with over 1000W at their disposal. That should be a nice upgrade to my current 2x Arendal 1723 Sub 1 boxes :). I am also thinking about adding anamorphic lens or motorized masking and a new screen. Time will tell which will be realized out of those options.
    Looking forward to more videos on the channel. I was hoping you would discuss your choices in context of other gear you had a chance to review like you did for Subs but I was happy to hear that that type of video is coming for AVM90 :)
    Also if instability of XMC-2 would eventually get better of me, due to your endorsement and sound demos, I think I would be upgrading to AVM90.
    Cheers

    Thanks for the video Barrett, really enjoyed it! Quick question, if you had a budget speaker award would you have gone with the R200? I’m just starting out on my speaker journey and I’m looking for good enough without necessarily spending too much, are the R200s still recommended? I plan to buy 6 for the bed layer and get an r400 center channel. Thanks!

    How would you compare the Tonewinner 12 inch to the Arendal 12 inch subwoofer? Does the Tonewinner outperform on slam/speed as well?

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  5 місяців тому

      I don't think Arendal makes a 12" subwoofer, they only make 14" subwoofers. Well, I guess if we want to get technical, they make 13.8" subwoofers according to their site haha. I do have the Arendal 1723 2S and 2V in for review, but that isn't at all a fair comparison. The 2S and 2V are both dual 13.8" driver units. The S being their sealed version and the V being their ported version. I haven't had any listening time with the dual driver Arendal subs yet, so I can't offer any comparison info on that just yet.

    • @pavelmarchev1468
      @pavelmarchev1468 5 місяців тому

      @@SpecOfTech Oh wait, I thought you might have listened to the Arendal 1961 subs, they are 12 inch, but you need bigger subs than that for your room though.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  5 місяців тому

      @@pavelmarchev1468 Oh, you're talking about the 1961, gotcha. It may be my misunderstanding, but I thought the 1961 series was discontinued, but maybe that is the speakers only...? I guess it doesn't matter either way haha. But no, I haven't heard the 1961 subwoofers. I'm sure they have great performance though.

    I know Kef speakers can be a bit pricey, but the new meta addition to their lines really push it over the top
    Perhaps you should consider because not only do they measure among the best period for HT, but many models have THX certifications. But the REAL reason I mention them, is because of their hifi prowess for 2 channel
    I think you would be blown away by the sound if you ever were willing to give them a shot
    I hope one day to see this brand on your channel

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  5 місяців тому +2

      Thank you for the suggestion. I have considered getting the KEF R Meta speakers several times. I am currently planning on getting some R3 Meta's to compare with the other bookshelf speakers I have. I hope to do that in the first half of 2024.
      I have heard nothing but good things about the R series, I look forward to hearing them in my space.

    • @vettesweetnos
      @vettesweetnos 5 місяців тому

      Great speakers, I have the ls50 meta for nearfield desktop with a rythmik f12. For nearfield you could get by with no sub if the port was left open and placed out from the wall a bit. But the concentric design of the tweeter and mid doesn't do reference levels in a larger theater room. It's just the way the design is.
      I have different setups for several different rooms, living room is paradigm founder and rythmik f18s. Theater will be legacy and jtr.
