So i’m guessing from this video that it’s not allowed to make istighfar because you want something from this world. I saw few videos on youtube where people would recite « astaghfirullah » for Allāh knows best how many times every day to get something. I do know istighfar can make Allāh remove calamities for you or will make your affairs easier. But i’m not sure if we are allowed to make istighfar with worldly intention like that
