"Listen to your body" is also what I tell my 2 yr old while potty training.
Jan telling Lionel to back the f away from overtraining and him listening is one of the best things to happen! Calling it now, he will be undefeated 2024!
I called it straight after mttrb70.3
Out of curiosity, as a world champ ever gone undefeated in a season?
@@hughcuk17 Frodo went undefeated in 2019 and 2015 according to the PTO ranking/stats (can't post the link). In 2021 and 2018 he was also undefeated, but didn't race Kona.
@@hughcuk17Chrissie wellington? Undefeated at the ironman distance. Not sire about shorter races she may have completed. Daniela was also untouchable for a long time.
That's a big call...but I can't help but agree.
How long will they keep teasing us with a Frodo announcement? 😂
Probably Frodo will even introduce a taper into Lionel's training. Lionel will crush it this year!
Would love to see a video of Jan's involvement with Lionel's training
This 🙏
Would make a great Netflix special
How is he involved currently?

"Dude he was captain of the football team" 😅 The UA-cam haters bit 😂 gold.
Dude the slowtwitch logo bit is the funniest thing I've ever seen, well done.
Talbot, just wanted to say I've been watching and enjoying your videos since the "early days".
I truly appreciate the craftmanship & genius of your vids & editing...often subtle, always enjoyable. You and Lionel make a great team. Thank you for continuing to do what you do and keep up the great work! 👍
The comedy gold of this series!!!
If ever there was a person made for commentating Ironman, Lionel is it. Talking for 8 straight hours is nothing for this guy! (Luv ya by the way!)
Great message! I wished I would have listened to my body sooner. Would have stopped a major injury from happening. No pain no gain message is all wrong. Now 6 months of therapy and healing ahead.Thank you for your video! Look forward to watching the next one and future races. Much success!
Hey Lionel- great race in Tremblant!! I’m the excited AGer that wished you luck in transition! Way to smash it!!
Thanks for putting so much effort into these videos. Always makes my day to see an upload
Your run form is changing!!❤
MT, you looked different in your stride. More even both sides.
It looks great on the treadmill as well.
Been following you for years.
I can see it clearly!!🎉
Well done.
"listen to your body" sounds like french dude picking up women. "do not think, mon cherie. Listen to your heart." That will not work. Your body didn't tell you to compete in Ironman. That's something you saw on tv. Listen to your tv and coaches because you're probably hurting yourself doing the training and have to to win. The secret is knowing how much you can hurt yourself and still win.
Thats exactly what listen to your body means😂😂 wake up
Really. You have found god. Haha . For years you have been over training. There is so much information about this. You are a stubborn man. Better late than never
Did I miss something about Jan coaching? Didn't see anything about him in the video but loads of comments referring to it.
I’m all ears
Great advice also makes training so much more enjoyable let’s not forget this is suppose to be fun!
If you don’t listen to your body when it asks politely, it will make you stop and rest. Whether it be injury or illness. This is fact but we just ignore it and get guess what? Injured or ill ! 😂
I'm in af! First triathlon will be in April. Training starts today?!?!!!! Thanks for the inspo
Lol I love that 2x100 mid set interview lol. Coach is spot on. All the internet trolls I’ll bet average 2 min/100 in a pool and 2:30 in OWS.
The key: Genetics
Pffff. Listen to your body. Is this a breakthrough moment?
This video is about listening to your body, but it's interesting that he's still training through the rib injury and the body is saying this hurts.
Is that a good thing?? Let us know Lionel??
Greetings from Germany, Lionel Sanders is still the best,
Is Jan Frodeno the trainer in the brackround ?
Lionel this is probably Thee best bit of advice I've ever heard you say!
It's amazing how simple the little things are to improving performance. Pain is your check-engine light. Ignore it at your peril. Keep it up Lionel!
I ignored my niggles and had 4 months off due to IT Band injury 😢 never again
Awesome video! I have a site for myself, re-reading it is very enlightening
Watch all Lionel's videos. That's the only message I heard! Done!
slowtwitch got called out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m not sure that the elephant in the room is Lionel body hair….
Lionel, outstanding!! I always learn from your videos.
What are these Bots doing 😂
Swim coaches somehow think they're exempt from adhering to accepted training principles that apply to all other sports. Intensity\Volume. Every. Single. Day. I swear the greats like Phelps were successful DESPITE their training, not BECAUSE of it.
Who’s coaching Lionel?
Love the video Lionel/Talbot. Your swim goals for the 200 FR (on the wall near your treadmill) are pretty lofty. You are going to need to split a little over a 1:01 a hundred (SCY) to achieve that time. Good luck with your training and hopefully you achieve it!
I really needed to see this video just a few days out from my first marathon, I have been coming back from injury for the last 5 weeks of my training block and have only hit 50% of my workouts. So I really felt under prepared in terms of training load, but hearing that I did what my body was capable of and knowing now that until I complete the marathon I’ll never actually know if my body is or isn’t were it needs to be. I have a little more mental hope seeing this video that I’m were I need to be.
Hmmm,,,from minute 6-7,,, I feel you are on the right thought, everything I do, is on feel, run, bike, swim, golf, meditate, and most importantly manifestation,,,they say you need to feel like its already happened, feel:)
Wow, thanks man, so true…
But the key think for a pro is to ignore pain or even like it - not many can push that hard and it's impoosible to "learn". Either you push that hard or you dont. Most people are in between. He is going for MAXIMUM pain otherwise he did not do it right. That is the way. The pain that dude must feel must be unberable for most. Keep it up!
Slowtwitch callout! Gold!!
You sound "enlightened"; glad you've found your balance/zen.
Lionel Sanders coaching… 🔥🔥 sign me up!! 🤩
8:54 magical transition to a different pair of shoes.
listening to your body sounds great, but most athletes overestimate the amount of training (stress) they can handle.
Jane did better than I thought he would’ve for the 1st 50m
Lionel for President! Joe? Listen to your body and mind.
Thanks for sharing. It seems so easy but it is so essential
me personally I would just not train enough to get injured 😅
On 1:40 I would just be swimming the whole time. 😂
So is Jan Lionel's coach? What am I missing?
bro discovered warm water and is doing video on it
Can I sign up for you to be my coach?
"Coach" is now Jan's nickname?
💪💪👍👍💯🏊🚴♂️🏃♂️👟🥇🇺🇸🔥
What is the music behind ?
"Train, don't strain"
10lbs lighter?
Love triathlon, love LS.
Coach😂🤔🤔🐐
The Goat
Say it again
Lmao 😂
Ya!! Ya!! Ya!!
Love ya Lionel… Fast forwarding past the rap “music”…
people aint saying they can beat Lionel, they are saying a Lionel that listens to the science and body can beat a Lionel that listens to his inner voice.
Becomming the best you can be is science.
Bro i was hit by a car today, the driver was completely at fault in that case. So lol staying injury-free, good video though👍.
I'd have easily 3-100 on 1'40, just saying. Ok maybe 2 and a half
Ja so wird es gemacht
with all the gadgets there are today, we've become reliant on them to tell us how we feel rather than asking that simple question of ourselves. mentally & physically how do i feel? also love the honesty of working within the range and its ok to be over or under depending on how you feel
Im only a age grouper . Knew that he was ober training years ago.
Great stuff! Sadly, as much as I love LS, I'd bet this guy would be neck and neck if not beating LS with 6 months of swim training.
Not the point.
Good Video...
