You know the best part, is if you own doom or doom 2, you get a free upgrade on any platform (Steam. PS4/PS5, Xbox, Switch), this is what an upgrade should be.

You can get the old menu style in the accessibility options. Also turn of the text contrast to get rid of the ugly black background when you pick up items.
In options, are you able to select button mapping. This is pretty important for me as I want to choose weapon select buttons as well as choose which button for run & fire.

the upgrade is nice but there are 2 important omissions. 1. there is no option to lock framerate to 35fps. you can still force it if you go out of your way and use console commands on pc, but console players are SoL. 2. the option to play midi music doesn't pass midi playback to the system, so you can't use your own midi soundfont or device.
While those ports are amazing (and in many cases like playing with mods like Brutal Doom, required), this is the first time in ever that we get a cross platform multiplayer Classic Doom port.. and thats awesome.
There's an option when you boot the game for the first time asking you about accessibility settings. By default they are all turned on, and like the Quake remasters, a lot of players skip them and then get stuck with the "black box with plain white text" issue. You can go into accessibility and turn all that off and get a more classic Doom-ish menu.
I don't think that's true. The game crashed before I could read that screen. When I booted it up again that screen never appeared again and all of the accessibility options were off by default for me

Agreed, Andrew Hulshults soundtrack alone breathes new life into the game. Hit up the Boiled Doom mod which turns it into Brutal Doom light and you're good to go.

I'm not sure about ID's thinking on Doom3, but it looks like Doom3's fan base is very restricted compared to Classic, 2016 and Eternal. The Doomworld forum subtitle on Doom3's section says "All Doom3, occasionally".

THEY LEFT OUT THE CHEATS...WTF???!!! Cheats have been a staple of all Doom releases on all platforms now for many years, and to leave them out of this newest enhanced version is inexcusable!!! That was a deal breaker for me! I hope they add cheats for this in an update and soon! Noticed a lot of people are pissed about this.
Easily the best part about this release is the online multiplayer. I would say external WAD support too but they don't appear to be accessible on consoles which is a shame.
I hope this is coming to the mobile ports. Yes I know thats sounds crazy, but as someone who is stuck with a chromebook there the best way for me to play.

Got them all in BFG Edition, got the individual re-releases on PS3, got Doom Classic Complete on PS3. I can't do classic doom again this is becoming Minecraft or GTA 5 at this point 😂

My problem with this port is that IT IS ALWAYS ONLINE! I first started playing it and the framerate was pretty bad, i thought "hmm it must be because it's trying to keep loyal to the original, considering this sourceport has no vertical aim and the enemies have infinite height" But then my internet died, and voilà! 60 fps!!! Im very far from the us where the servers are, it is unexcusable and just more proof that corporations are greedy and worthless, ill just have to go back to chocolate doom i guess 😂

There's more addons, players can share their own addons even, online multiplayer (the unity version didn't have that, just splitscreen), there's also an option for remixed music which really goes hard. There's also lots of accessibility options and I think the output resolution is higher.

A very decent and fun way for normies and casuals to play classic doom and even enjoy it online, no less. As an "introduction port" to Doom... I’m not far in my save but so far legacy of rust is AWESOME, This shit is so good man, ID has been on a nonstop winning streak since doom eternal with no signs of slowing, I fucking love it. Also, quake 2 was the first and only other re release with the Id vault. You’re right about it being amazing though it sets a good standard for re releases and preservation.
I downloaded it last night and before I know it I was finished E1M8 on UV difficulty The New Remastered is ASTONISHING And EPIC and the Orchestral beats in the soundtrack are an amazing new Editon to the soundtrack and it RICKS HARd when it does

Sadly, the iOS and Android versions didn't get this update, as the KEX Engine doesn't have an official port for either mobile OS.

I'm excited to see Doom get an extended life, probably be 30 more years before next major update tho
I have this on series x my only gripe right now is I wish the my house mod worked it always crashes the game when you try to start that mod
