With LONDON and PARIS, ROME is the greatest city of Europe. The three largest, most important and most beautiful cities of Europe. Without those three cities, Europe would not be Europe.

@@Just_another_Euro_dude Actually, Rome is the largest city in Europe along with Paris and London. At least according to the recent data. Constantinople and Madrid come after.

@@chuckwayne7089 Rome metro area goes well beyond the limits of the Lazio region. It goes into Umbria, Abruzzo and Tuscany.

@@Just_another_Euro_dude Well, cities like Moscow, St. Petersburgh and Istanbul are not located in proper Europe, meaning withing the geographic limits of the continent. And they are not part of the political European Union.
Now, London is in in insular Europe but no longer in the EU. Therefore, the list goes this way now:
      1. BERLIN - about 3.6 million people
      2. MADRID - about 3.3 million people
      3. ROME - about 3.0 million people

@@Just_another_Euro_dude No need to insult me, since you don't even know me.
The debate about Russia being an Asian or a European country has been going on forever. Many experts, though, consider Russia as part of Asia since *77%* of its territory is, indeed, in *Asia.*
Europeans like myself do not consider Russians to be part of our continent: they are Russians, meaning they're their own thing. And since the formation of the EU, this feeling has only increased.
Also, Moscow is about 1,000 miles west of the Urals (the geographic border with Asia) and 1,000 miles east of the Poland's eastern border with Belarus, meaning the eastern border of what true Europe used to be (Belarus used to be under the Soviet Union until about 1991).
In conclusion: usually we consider Moscow and St. Petersburg to be in the same situation of Istanbul. They are not 100% European cities, whether you like it or not, you dumb ass.
