I’ll echo the other commenter: this is very helpful and your narration was spot on. One thing that would make this video tutorial better would be able to see the maps clearly. Next time try shrinking your giant head and make the subject the majority of the screen.
I appreciate this very much as I got the Wise pilgrim for the Norte and I couldn't figure it out. I love the Brierley as a paper copy as well. I love seeing the maps and the little thought for the stage/day... I like the descriptions and I would often tear off a page and either mail it back when I had a chunk, but they also make great souvenirs whole. I also have used Gronze a lot, which is not an app but a website. It also is kept up to date.

I already did my first Camino (Frances) with Brierly's guide book only but then again, the Frances has better infrastructure and is well marked. used Ninja Camino on Portuguese Camino , Bit rudimentary, just distance, profile and distance from track if strayed off course. Brierley is the bizz, so much information, and insightful perspectives.
Thank you for this Jeremiah. I am a paper guide person by preference but now I see how this app works and what it offers I know it will be very useful indeed. So I've downloaded the app and offline maps to my phone. I will still carry my paper guide but will feel more confident that should I go astray I can easily see where I am in relation to the Camino. I will also find it helpful for pre-booking my accommodations a day or two ahead. It's nice to see comments about where to eat too. I wonder if it will end up with me abandoning my paper guide? One thing I have done with my paper guidebook is make brief notes about where I might like staying and where I truly don't want to stay.

However, I did not go through the entire app. You pointed out some great tricks in using the app. I made plans for doing the Camino in April 2020. Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic, the trip was canceled. However, I am planning to walk the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port in April or May of 2022.

you referred to a map icon and a compass setting on the upper right of the screen. your clip does not show these things you refer to. The upper right shows nothing so it is a little confusing. However all else is very good and clear

Actually I have a dozen or so. They are reprints. (Not hand painted). I could put something like that on my other channel. This one will be all Camino stuff. I really love them too. But I don’t study them enough.
I have a question about the maps. I thought I downloaded the maps on my phone, but when I click on maps here at home I get a map of where I live..... out in the boonies of northern Canada. Will this map thing work when I am actually in Spain? I just wonder why you can do it from your house... and I can't

Honestly I have only ever been an app guy. I have Brierley and I suppose I’d recommend that for paper guide. Wise Pilgrim makes a paper guide but I don’t know what to think of that one.
I found this very helpful-- especially the part about the maps-- but, after a few minutes, it seemed to automatically leave the downloaded maps and will only to satellite map-- so-- no Camino. Any suggestions how to switch it back? I've now downloaded and unpacked the maps twice.
I’m not sure what is happening on your end. However the maps feature is very difficult to use while you are not in Spain. It wants to jump you back to your current location all the time. That’s partly why I had all location data turned off to make this. So if you aren’t in Spain this is a bit hard to test.

I've tried using Google maps to do some of that-- but of course, it does not follow the actual Camino, just the shortest distance between points. So-- when the Wise Pilgrim map worked for a few seconds-- that was perfect! And then it stopped.
Search Amazon for John Breierley's guide books. If you want a paper book, they are the most popular. Wise Pilgrim also have a print edition but I haven't seen it.
I'm not sure what you mean here. I assume you are asking about a trial period? I don't think there is any trial period at all. So you have to pay up front for an unlimited use.

Wise Pilgrim app a few years ago it was great until six month ago when I’ve noticed that albergue’s were missing from the accommodation list and it wasn’t due to being closed due to covid. I’ve tried to email the app provider to no respond. I guess I’ll have to repurchase the app again. There must be a time limit on it, thanks for responding much appreciated.
@@tonybrincat6879 that’s weird. You may try deleting and reinstalling. I have had it for many years now and it operates properly. Sounds like you found a bug

I do not. I really only go on Frances with my groups. Both Wanderlusting Lawyer and Nadine Walks have content on some of the other paths.

What about on line maps showing where you are at that time
The only online maps that I think would do that would be apps. I'd highly suggest downloading this app.

Can I get a book outlining each step with milage

You were using airplane mode, so comments are not available. You need to use data to access comments.
That’s right. The developer told me that later. I couldn’t figure out why nothing I clicked on had comments!
