    Just a note to prospective first-time pilgrims -- Listening to this channel was integral to my successful completion of the Camino last year. I was worried and stressed before I found this channel. I listened to the advice on this channel and was able to relax and enjoy my entire time. I would subscribe and go through all the videos. They are very helpful.

      I walked from Porto Portugal to Santiago at the end of September to the middle of October 2022. I took a small backpack with 2 changes of clothes and something to sleep in. The Alburgues and hotels along the way ranged from $8 to about $20 per night
      One night I stayed at a monastery for tips. A dinner of soup, salad, and wine was included At dinner we each sang a song from our country.

      For your pilgrim passport (not really a passport, but a credencial)…you can join the Canadian Company of Pilgrims and get the official Canadian passport. You can also order the generic passport on Ivar’s forum. Or you can get it in the municipal albergue wherever you plan to start your pilgrimage.

    Thank you for your guidance my friend. I am not exactly physically fit for this long journey, but I am determined to take on the challenge in Sept for the first time, starting from Porto as it is the shortest route, plus I only have two weeks for my entire trip. If everything goes as planned, I will be looking to do other routes in the future. I've done quite a bit of research and watch numbers of UA-cam videos people shared, but this one seems to suit my plan the most, with all the contents you shared. Again, thank you so much! I will update after my trip.

    Thanks for the info! I think a lot of people want to know where to get a camino passport. And a clam shell!

    • @CaminoGuide
      @CaminoGuide  Рік тому +1

      The shells can be purchased any craft shop, but lots of folks just buy them at any gift store along the Way. The passport comes from a pilgrim association. In America you can go to the American Pilgrims on the Camino website and get it for free. In other countries, search to see if you have a pilgrim association.

    I enjoy your UA-cam’s on the Camino. However, as a non-American I find it difficult when you talk distances and weights without having at least a quick conversion to metric on the screen for me to see. If you’re willing to bear in mind that much of the world is metric, you may have even better audience views.

    • @CaminoGuide
      @CaminoGuide  Рік тому +3

      Most of my audience is American, but I have more and more international. So I’ve been trying to include conversion. But I don’t do then well on the fly (I said 32 was in the 90’s in this video…should have been 34-35). I may need to just stick with English in my speaking and do conversions on screen text. Thanks for the feedback!

    • @CaminoGuide

      Hi Jeff, the albergues have always supplied paper sheets. They did provide blankets that were occasionally washed. During COVID these were eliminated. But in May 2022 I saw a lot but not all return to having blankets. In short, I will take a silk sleeping bag liner in June through August (I hate the paper sheets!) and a light sleeping bag outside of
