    I quit racing 15 years ago because the prices became too much for me.. I went for the first time this spring and I was blown away with the prices per class, the lack of guys on the gates, for a 35+ class dad that makes pretty decent money there is NO way I could ever afford it this day in age.. and also they cut the laps so bad so they can drive everyone out by 2.. not worth it anymore

      I got into vintage because bikes were cheap enough....but, by the time I buy gas for the truck and bike, and pay gate fees, it's $100 to go practice. I'm about to hang it up. I can't even afford to go practice. I haven't even rode in 4 months. Own half a glass shop and can't afford to go practice once a week. Use to we could find a practice spot and build our own practice track, but those days are long gone. On top of all that, good luck finding someone to go ride with consistently. I'm about to sell the vintage fleet and find a really nice 2007 or earlier chevy truck😂😂 FTW

      @@B.LanglaisCT203 I'm close to an hour drive too. I'm going to try and bite the bullet as soon as it cools down some...see if I can manage it financially haha. There is a close vintage race in November close, ran it for 4 years in intermediate class, last time they moved me up to expert. I want to actually ride and train this year and see if I can't compete for a win. I got second last race, but there was a crash that took out trampas parker and some of the other top guys. I usually don't disclose that part!😂

      I had two kids racing. $500 per weekend just for the basic expenses which did not include bike parts. Did it two years with the goal of making Loretta’s. A friend of mine had a kid make it last year. When he told me how much he spent for one week at Loretta’s, we gave it up. No way can I afford that. He can’t either. They didn’t try to qualify this year. We gave up racing. It’s just too expensive.

    Holy cow batman! Awesome!!! Coach is always so well spoken, and says it as it is with no bias.
    This is ridiculous on so many levels.
    $450K or more from wifi and dont pay $10k for headphone/radios for flaggers, and also pay them $300 a day, and bring them in 4 days in advance to teach/learn and practice.
    I sure hope whatever could be in the pipeline does happen. I am not even in the USA, but if OUR sport goes down in the USA, it has a global knock on due to lack of sales... lack of profits to bike makers, parts, tires etc... and that affects every other country in the end.
    I wish I lived somewhere I could help create an alternate series that is fair, cost effective, pays riders, makes a profit enough to expand and invest in our sport. A series that is by the people for the people.
    Let make MOTO great again! Red, white or blue... we gotta make it true!

    1986, Ponca was at the turning point of LoRetta's taking over. I was 2-3 going into 125int final w Mike Craig, Denny Stephenson... It was mudder in final... I got cleaned out on start of final getting up dead last. Caught up to 3rd and may of won final except bike seized last lap as I caught Craig & Stephenson. After Ponca, Fall of 86 I won FL Gold Cup Series 125A. Then Fall 1986 @ Mini O's in first day of SX practice, I cleared a triple face and there was a pileup on the 3rd jump. Life changing is an understatement. I burst my C1. Still rode 4 days finishing 12th in Sx and podiumed TT and had a top 5's in mx motos... So a yr after 86 Mini O's, I came off couch Jan 1988 and swept motos Gatorback Winter Am 125A on a Cagiva I never rode till that morning... And that morning was my first time on a bike since Nov 86 Mini O's bursting my C1. I suffered migraines ever since I was 17 due to an inexperienced sleeping flagger... I'm 55 now... I was 125A State Champ when RC4 was on a 65cc... and I remember the night Big James brought Bubba to Dade City as a baby to show him off... Big James was a fast B rider who loved racing Saturday nights at Dade after grinding a long week working. Hey Cooksey, back in 1984 I was racing in pa. near Lake Erie. That day it was a mudder. Something I was not aware of was that the track was short one flagger and would'nt you know it, that was the jump that I went down on. the guy in second place did not know that I went down and he took the same line as me. My left leg was under my bike and as I was trying to lift up my bike, the guys frame landed on my head. Pushing my head down , collapsing the left side of my fullface (bell moto 4). The 84 kx 125 that year had a metal front fender brace and that is what cut my forehead and took 57 stitches, all 3 layers. Eric, the guy in 2nd, said that I sat up, looked at him then my eyes rolled in back of my head. then blood was coming out of my mouth, nose, and eyes. He screamed "oh my god I killed him" that really sucked for him. To make it worse where I went down was right in front of my mom and brother. He jumped over the fence but could not get there in time to stop eric from jumping. The reason I went down was that I threw my gogles toward my bro since I ran out of tear offs, and missed getting my hand back on the bars. The meat wagon took me to the hospital where my heart stopped but then I got medavac to Pittsburgh prespiterian and woke up 4and a half days later. Funny thing was that my dad said we never got the bill for my helicopter ride.
    Sorry soo long. by the way I also knew Timmy Coombs his dad and bro. I have a good story to tell ya but another time.
    Take care

    $10000 bikes are the elephant in the room... everyone glosses over that fact. We all inow racing would be just as good with aircooled non powervalved 300cc bikes with half modern suspension.....IF that was what could be raced....idk, something could be done. Rule changes could be made(remember 4 strokes) we dont need 4 different maps, we dont need traction control, we dont need 450s, we dont need holeshot devices, we dont need injection, we dont need sensors of any sort on the motor, we dont need hydrolic clutches. In all honesty we dont evwn need disk brakes. All we need is rules that make bikes equal, cheap bikes and a track. Funnest race series ive ever been in was a trr125 "pro" series....i paid for my bike twice with purse money in two years!! Won without a big bore kit for a year and a half! Again... For instance drew adams was qualifying for B class at the regional but never even raced it at lorettas. Great 2 part show. I always like to hear all sides of the story. I will say about the sex offender you spoke of, I'm very surprised to hear this. Ultimately it's a failing of the court system and the owners of the track as well if it's true. I know someone who, in the mid 20's, had an affair with a 14 year old and got caught. Ya, it's sick and I don't respect this guy for it. After getting out of prison, he had many restrictions put on him. He has to get permission to go out of the county. He cannot be around children without parent(s) who present and informed of his conviction. His internet usage is monitored using special software. He does periodic lie detector screenings. And that's just a few of the restrictions. These are good measures and have mid 90% success rate for low level offenders. I would hope you consider doing a rigorous journalistic investigation about the person you speak of before you speak. It's all public information. These are serious allegations and it deserves to be put under the microscope. I agree that these people shouldn't be in this alleged un-monitored scenario. You could be right, but with all the lies and conspiracy theories going around, I don't believe them with out reasonable proof. And if it's true, contact the local police and local media. This is the solution that will really protect the children. Thanks for your good work.

    Parents will do absolutely anything for their kids. We see that across the board in youth sports. Organizers, as a result, know that they can raise up the prices and mom and dad will just make more sacrifices to allow junior to attend the race. You hear the same story over and over about families having to live a severely compromised existence so that ONE of their kids can chase a dream that most kids will never achieve. To me, Loretta's is taking a huge risk in that once they tarnish the brand of an event, it's hard to recover. Time will tell.

    This has been a long time issue with World Mini's, Ponca, Lake Whitney, etc..... It basically caused World Mini's and Ponca to collapse.... Its not all an MX Sports issue tho.... We use to go to Ponca and LL when my boy was on 50's, 65's and 85's.... We went with 3 bikes and a crap ton of parts and hit them all.... We spent about 10k for Ponca and LL and a couple grand on World Mini's...just think you use to pay 2k for an 85 and you could have 20 pistons, 3 cylinders, a few clutches for very little money.... on a 125 or 250 you could have a box of parts and make it weeks and the dad could rebuild his boys 125 in 30 minutes easy.... The 4 stroke is killing moto, the bike cost is crazy and now the parent can only do very basic things.... So now your bike is 12k instead of 4k.... now you need a box of parts thats 4k instead of 1k.... The prices are insane and really if you think about it, it is totally worthless for a kid on a 50 and 65 to go to LL or any of these except to have some serious fun.... if you arent having fun then f it go race local....

It wouldn't take very much to start or maintain it compared to all the time and money they spend on the sport anyways. Try holding Lorettas with no riders and see how they like that... just a thought. Loved this video, soo much truth!

    I didn't like the concept of amatuer national championship from the beginning in the mid 70's. I thought it was just a money grab. When my son raced I took him to Mammoth 3 or 4 times and we raced the Western 4 Stroke Nationals for 3 years. They were a lot more fun.
    LL's just created a huge amount of cherry picking and cheater bikes. Cheater bike 2 strokes were rampant....80's that were 121-124cc, 125's that were 167's......250's that were 285-292cc's, 250F's that were 302's.....nobody said anything because they were all doing it.

    I wanna mention this as you’re talking about flaggers one of my best friends as I was growing up in the late 90s was killed from a motorcycle landing on top of them due to not having the right type of flagger. It’s a very serious thing and I think someone that makes a ton of money would want to protect the leaders of the sport. I called them million dollar riders. I do believe they can afford to even get more flaggers if they can’t pay each flag or more money, it’s people runoff of money alone and they’re so greedy that they let things like this happen.

I want to get a better understanding of how this valve train works. Can anyone steer me in the right direction here? Thanks.

    • @root12510
      @root12510 Місяць тому +1

      It's there desmodromic valve system. Dual rocker arms with no valve springs. Elimates valve float and allows higher rpm's. They say 20k rpm. Same thing in the Superbikes jusscaled down to a 450 basically. Lots of maintenance but pretty cool. I haven't found much on the 450 motor but there is alot of info on Superbikes which is very similar on the valve train setup

    • @stkyfngrszmooth
      @stkyfngrszmooth Місяць тому +1

      @root12510 Місяць тому

      @stkyfngrszmooth agreed. It's a pretty cool unique design. And if the sound of a Ducati Superbike tells us anything these 450s will sound really cool. I've only seen a few clips of it in the Italian mx series and the thing seems pretty rad.
