He will wait till he wins a 250 SX title and he’s said that multiple times. So I’m not sure why this is still a question being asked. This is how all top riders do it. Win 250SX, race 250MX win again, defend 250SX title, race 450MX. That’s always usually the route with top guys. Let’s all say a prayer for RJ Hamshire. He has had really rough couple of years and I hope that he makes a full recovery and pray. my name is also RJ I Raced one time saddleback back in the day, and I took some spills on suicide Mountain also used to lay down some laps with the pros on the practice track but I’ll be turning 60 in a few days so now I just enjoy watching but it’s way interesting This year, especially and thank you Cooksey I really enjoy your commentary and usually agree however, I’m not a betting man I like your show because you are straightforward and tell it how it is. Thank you.
I dint believe HD can hop on a 450 and be competitive. I think he is absolutely riding the 250 as fast and hard as it can be ridden. I believe he's faster than the bike. But a 450 is a completely different animal. Right off the rip he'll have more power than he'll know what to do with. And that in and of itself is significant adjustment to have to make.
Man I felt so bad for rj. He’s lucky he wasnt 2 feet to his left or he would have also been landed on by vialle.. ( Cant member who was right behind him) that’s two weeks in a row he’s went off the side and hit a tuff block and had a bad crash. As for deegan, idk if he would win in the 450 right now but his lap times moto 1 were a second faster than any 450 guy. I know the track is a little rougher for the 450, but it wasn’t by much and a second difference is a lot, especially on a smaller bike. That triple triple just shows he just has skills to do things others can’t or just won’t try and does it with perfection lap after lap. Idk whether he should move up next year outdoors or not. I think if he wins sx title he might as well go ahead and go and give us a 4 generation battle beteeen him, Jett, chase, and Tomac. That would be sick
brian has the SM and how it all works down. fyi that era of riders started it. him and pastrana didn't figure it out they made it work and today there probablly the best at it. not to mention they have been great parents , the key to everything, got to have them ,,, kudos to brian , proves one thing , you put in the time , it pays off.
Unpopular opinion. At least the tuff blocks deflect people away from the concrete/ asphalt or barriers. Bring in more dirt to extend the dirt apron and then we can remove tuff blocks. No hate please.😅
With Deegan doing as well as he is. I would like to see him snag an east and west title before moving up to 450. To me that would be the greatest accomplishment to have every 250 title he can get here before moving up. Then making his way to a 450 titles, How many guys have done that? I'm sure only few have been able to get every championship available here nationally. Also, he's got a long career ahead of him, no need to rush to the 450 class when he can race there for 10+ years
cooksey, I agree those tough blocks shouldn't be in the rythem...however neither should those acrebies track markers we've already seen them get suck in a boot and if someone landed on one with their body it could possibly impale them...but there definitely needs to be a fix for this...Maybe tough blocks along the sides. but not going up and down the jumps on the ground a foot or 2 next to the jumps idk but we all agreed those are dangerous and in the most dangerous sections..even pulp agrees and constantly talks about it..they need to do something and do it now..
how about rubber track markers like the acerbies ones..not that hard plastic that they are but a rubber one so if they do land or fall on it it won't hurt them 🤔
Deegan is good I’d love to see him mix it up with the 450s problem is he doesn’t have any competition in the 250s but 450s, man a rough start and you have your work cut out. Look at last race with jet and tomac
I stated at the beginning of the season that Hunter would be a top 3 rider. Copped heaps of rubbish over stating that. So, I just wanted to say, I told you so.
I believe that i recall Haiden saying that he wants a 250 SX CHAMPIONSHIP before moving upto the 450 class So more then likely if he takes that 2025 SX championship🤞 I'm pretty sure that we'll see him on a 450 for the 2025 450 MX OUTDOOR NATIONALS ...
If it wasn’t for that tuff block he would have gone off the track, he was going down regardless and the his wheels were drifting off to the right, the first tuff block turned him left.
Look at Justin Cooper. Crying for months that he was not respected and 3rd in the truck. Then when ET3 CW2 get surgery, including Jett... He still can't improve speed or endurance. He has the bikes, technicians, the time the money the contract and the tracks the trainers to improve his condition... Does he? No. As a rookie (we all say) yes, Lawrence is a rookie too. But is he making excuses? Or getting beat by 20+seconds and worse the 2nd motos... BY Another Rookie that he USED TO BEAT. Where lies the excuse week after week? I don't feel he works over the week with what he's been given and takes his past for granted.
Replace tough blocks with markers and move the tough blockers 15’ away from the whoops. You can still see the advertisement, but with less chance of accidents, hurting riders.
Absolutely he could challenge any of the 450 guys I truly believe he has the bike skill and the wow factor to hang it all out and beat anyone atm, The kid is gonna hush alot of haters very soon!
I wouldn’t blame the tuff blocks for one or two riders lack of talent, especially guys with track records like RJ. 19 other guys out there had no problem staying inside them. Are they a good idea or totally necessary? Not at all, but I wouldn’t blame the sponsors for buying ad space that’s been there for as many years as they have been. That’s just stupidity and seems like fishing for a way to complain about the promoters at this point
Pretty crappy what happened to RJ, Joe did a heads up move though, avoiding him while he was laying on the track. Joe pretty much gave up any chance of catching Vialle when he slowed for RJ.
Anybody that knows motocross racing knows there is no prediction when the rider jumps up to the 450 ,I don't care who he is the only way to know is when he gets there, will he do good, maybe,he should, time will tell.
How hard are we grasping at straws when we start asking if a vented number plate helped someone's performance? Maybe it is a good look and gave 1% mental edge. Ya know,,,last year, a year ago Jett was the end to end all ends...Jett was going to be the NEXT BEST OF ALL TIME...And now it's Deegan who has raced 2 years as a Pro. And Now, Is he the best in SMX, BOTH CLASSES? Come on...Why doesn't everyone just let this Kid Ride and Race...He may be the next McGrath, Villapoto, Carmichael, Tomac, Dungey,,, and on and on and on...When he wins, the 2nd championship, the 3rd Championship then you can start with the Is He GOING TO BE THE GOAT? Most Everyone has already started to bail on JETT. But SX and MX History is full of 1 Championship Racers, 2 Championship Racers...
Why don't they just have the sponsor logo overlayed on the TV screen like how they have sponsors on overlayed on the start straight. They use the same technology that they use in the football games that shows the "1st & 10" on the field

Haiden was asked about 450 in the post race presser. He said he’s not going to 450 for at least another season.
FINALLY other riders fighting these Lawrence BROS. One still won but it was much closer! Maybe the competition can hang with the Down under bois! AMERICA! Cmon! FIGHT, American riders FIGHT!
What a 450 race!
Makes a difference when you race guys not injured.
He has to win a Supercross championship. Star Replied back to me when I asked about him racing 450's.
Rj can’t stay off the ground ever ! Anytime someone is giving him pressure he weeds himself
💯 been his MO his whole career.
Brawndo, "it's got electrolytes." 🤦♂️🏁🤙
I pretty much can guess he physically works harder. Noone improves from week to week, but Deegan. And that's across the board. Yes we have the 450s all in the top 5 running the same. But, do you see them improving? Deegan is pushing himself more than anyone PERIOD.
Thank you.
It's going to be awesome to see Haiden and Jett dicing at the front for several years to come.
What about Chase and Hunter?
@@jakahl1470 cant wait!
Would love see deegan to a year of mxgp while hes still young enough to ride the 250 class
Announcers didn’t even mention “tuff block” after Hampshire’s crash, are they trained not too? your 100% right they need to go
Deegan doesnt have any real competition, i remember last year when Hunter was racing 250's Deegan didnt look so fast.
LMAO!!!😂😂😂 Ok Cooksey keep telling that to yourself, we get it, you hate to see an Australian drilling a new hole on all your idols
Also, he's got a long career ahead of him, no need to rush to the 450 class when he can race there for 10+ years
Moving up is hard. Only a couple have done it successfully the next year. Jett and his brother, Hannah, RV and Dungey. Most take a year or two.
Coach is the man. Sweet gear.
cooksey, I agree those tough blocks shouldn't be in the rythem...however neither should those acrebies track markers we've already seen them get suck in a boot and if someone landed on one with their body it could possibly impale them...but there definitely needs to be a fix for this...Maybe tough blocks along the sides. but not going up and down the jumps on the ground a foot or 2 next to the jumps idk but we all agreed those are dangerous and in the most dangerous sections..even pulp agrees and constantly talks about it..they need to do something and do it now..
how about rubber track markers like the acerbies ones..not that hard plastic that they are but a rubber one so if they do land or fall on it it won't hurt them 🤔
Travis Pastrana is in a league of his own.
Good talk. I always loved Travis and hated Brian. I expected to hate Hayden, but I can't. He's solid. Even his dad has improved over the years.
i ran a vented number plate on my Honda VF750F race bike back in the 80s because i had the chin radiator mounted up on the triple clamps.
It might not benefit much, but damn they look cool!
I'm from the UK and just looked at tickets for the Sunday it's 145 dollars for entry Sunday and for weekend entry is 195 dollars
You said it. Tuff block or death block.
I believe that i recall Haiden saying that he wants a
250 SX CHAMPIONSHIP before moving upto the 450 class
So more then likely if he takes that 2025 SX championship🤞
I'm pretty sure that we'll see him on a 450 for the 2025 450 MX OUTDOOR NATIONALS ...
Tuffblocks and wooden steaks...and exposed concrete! If he went left off the track we would have had another Forkner!
and don't forget concrete walls. sheesh!
If it wasn’t for that tuff block he would have gone off the track, he was going down regardless and the his wheels were drifting off to the right, the first tuff block turned him left.
Pulling off early on Friday is super smart. I've been saying for a while that these guys are over training in general
can't hit the like button more..... GET RID OF THE TOUGH BLOCKS
Why is Cooksey the only one with balls to say this? Why?
Yes Deegan and jett are the best rite now. Nobody can compete. They both on beast mode
If the blocks weren’t there all the riders would be finding new lines way on the outside of the jumps, they are there for a reason
Totally see they are a hazard. Supposed to be a safety feature but they are clearly a hazard.
I feel like deegs will want to defend the titles tho before going 450 , wins sx defends outdoor then defends sx and races 450 outdoor
Tuff block thing is a problem, the sponsor should be ashamed for allowing their name on such a dangerous device.
I've seen those tuff blocks save riders big time
@@JetskisAndDirtbikes and that's why they still have them. Not everyone can be right.
@@ivtec4fun55💯
Track markers instead of tuff blocks? You mean like water from the toilet on plants? What about the electrolytes?
Yeah tough blocks are a real problem
Yes, the tough blocks on the rhythm & whoops need to go. How about the riders that get hurt sue the promoters???
what happened with the 33;1 bet? was it 24 and rider d ??
Your correct mate get ride of these fucking tuff blocks
Another great video!!!
Pretty crappy what happened to RJ, Joe did a heads up move though, avoiding him while he was laying on the track. Joe pretty much gave up any chance of catching Vialle when he slowed for RJ.
Fining the sponsors of the blocks is crazy
Can we get rid of the stupid tough blocks caused Hampshire and Mumford to crash
As soon as I saw him wreck I said stupid tuff block
I knew you would be passed I said to myself during practice someone is going down
I don't know if he's better than Prado or hurlings outdoors but I can't wait to see him and Jett face off here
John an Eli Tomac have kept their relationship just fine even when Eli became his “own man” whatever tf that means..
Tuff blocks be on the very edge not on the top of the jump corner or side put them on the
Anybody that knows motocross racing knows there is no prediction when the rider jumps up to the 450 ,I don't care who he is the only way to know is when he gets there, will he do good, maybe,he should, time will tell.
😂 youre out of your mind Hayden is great but he's no jett. I do agree with you about the tough blocks
Hopefully Haiden follows Eli Tomacs lead and stays close with his family.
How hard are we grasping at straws when we start asking if a vented number plate helped someone's performance? Maybe it is a good look and gave 1% mental edge. If anything it cooled the electronics behind it.
I hope some day we can praise someone for doing a good thing (signing autographs in the pits) without saying it came from someone else's influence.
More air to radiator and on the Yamaha the air box is up front
Idk the way I saw it is if it wasn’t for that tuff block RJ would have ended up off the track.
Cardboard box tuff blocks
It's definitely sad to see these guys and teams are so set in their ways they won't man up and make track change demands for SAFETY ISSUES in fear of backlash from the deuchbags who's run the sport
