The Red Pine Chutes are a steep section of the Red Pine Bowl closest to the ski area boundary. The area gets its name from the steep face located about halfway down the face.
Is this supposed to be a double black diamond run at Park City at 3,017 m - it looks a regular black run to me except for the bottom section? How do you compare it to double black diamond runs at Whistler / Blackcomb (Saudan Couloir)? Trying to decide for next season whether to visit Telluride, CO, Park City, UT, Breckenridge, CO, Vail, CO (I've been there in the summer) with Epic Pass or Alpe d'Huez in France. Thanks.
While the bottom is steep, the camera makes the top look a lot less steep than it really is. I agree with you though, if you just ski the top and maneuver around the lower section the run really is only black in difficulty. And I was just at Whistler, and in my experience with the runs I did there (including Saudan Couloir), they were as steep if not steeper but were MUCH more exposed. For the resorts, I highly recommend WB and Telluride, although Vail and PCMR are fine. I can't peak for the French one.
@@AdventuresOfGalen Thanks. The Pencil Chute at Blackcomb is unofficially considered a triple-black run deservedly so: ua-cam.com/video/yDMRSj761W4/v-deo.html And Surfs Up also on Blackcomb: ua-cam.com/video/ku88jlSrrMw/v-deo.html Also the Coffin in Whistler: ua-cam.com/video/6D-LfwyvITk/v-deo.html The Couloir in Whistler: ua-cam.com/video/Dqk1JvBLayc/v-deo.html And the famous Corbet's Couloir at Jackson Hole, of course: ua-cam.com/video/PxO4oOuQZ9g/v-deo.html
@@AdventuresOfGalen how would you compare whistler to park city in general? will be at park city next year after usually going to whistler. looking for some challenging stuff.
@@seanguo9366 Like I said, Whistler, in my experience, is steeper and much more exposed than Park City. But don't get me wrong, Park City has some steep areas around Jupiter Bowl, East Face, 9990 but the length and difficulty of runs such as Machete or Indicator just don't compare to Saudan Couloir or The Cirque. Both are way too expensive :D
That last part looks super steep
2:38 “ohh, that’s why everyone else hiked out “
Man rip the skis ☹️
I might ski this today
Ouch! Hopefully on rented skis!

Is the mountain you are at in this video park city resort or deer valley? Also what is the name of the last part/run
This is at Park City; the general area of the run is called Red Pine Chutes, but the steep cliffy face at the end may be called ‘The Reef’
@@AdventuresOfGalen Ok, thank you for this information. I might be going there next ski season!
looks like pow, sounds like ice, dust on crust?
Can you go around that part that you side-slipped?
yes
How steep was the part at the end?
Not sure, probably above 40 degrees.
