A better comparison if you were going to buy new might be with the new Tarpon 105. Looks like the seat is improved with all the adjustments you can make. But that being said I think the hull design and speed looks much better on the Crescent. Plus the Tarpon is 200 dollars more.
Lol works for me cuz I have the pungo and I agree I can't sit for more than about an hr and I have to get out stretch and I just bought the Cresent lite so it's the 12'4 model so thanks for the 10 on seat comfort
The lawn chair type of seats make a huge difference. I have an old town vapor and the seat kills me. Might be an age problem. 😂 I did add kayak kushions to my seat and made a huge difference.
My tarpon 120 IMHO is quite comfortable and the seat on the deck lowers the center of gravity and makes the primary stability greater. Landed 60+ cats on the drift and never felt like I was going to tip. I have a crescent lite tackle as well. I like both but if I'm going any distance I'm taking the tarpon. Also forgot to mention the speed difference. Tarpons are pretty quick yaks. And the weight difference is a big factor as well day to day. Both nice yaks but look over crescents well for manufacturing/assembly/finishing flaws before you buy them. Mine had several flaws that seemed like basic negligence at the factory. My 2019 tarpon was flawless upon purchase.
I've had tarpon 120 for going over 18 years. Its A tank. The comment about the name brand parts on the crescent made me laugh a lil. My tarpon has all its original parts including bungees. Handles still solid. My sister has had a tarpon 100 for rnd 5 years. Its solid af too! paddles awesome with great stability. Any kayak seat will suck after a time. My crescent ultra lite came with screws loose and hull already scratched. I had to drive in the screws to even get track mount accessories to fit! That said. I got the Ultra lite because i needed something i could car top on a small car. Ive paddle long enough to know what i wanted in a creek runner/throw and go kayak. The crescent clicked all the boxes. if the ws 105 had an open deck design and was a lil lighter might of went that route. Ive had my crescent out a few times this year and am impressed with how it paddles. Dudes not exaggerating about the speed and tracking. Cooler with ice n drinks, plano 3600 guide bag loaded, a full 3700 deep box, and still paddled up stream against the wind leaving a wake. I intentionally loaded her down as a test. I wanted to see if i could take a all day amount of gear and still be ok for some slightly ruff river sections. I fish new river and go out from daylight till dark so need what i need. Loaded down like i would my 120 and to my surprise the bow didn't pitch out....any, that i could tell. My tarpon bow would noticeably angle up causing tracking and spinning trouble. Hull design or a benefit of a shorter boat? i was impressed regardless. Crescent has a potential classic if they can get qc in line!
@@Itchin2Fish i mentioned the 10' tarpon. My sister has one. Our the oem parts diferent on the 12 vs the 10? Ive paddled it a good bit. Coming off a lil arrogant bud. The cresents faster but can't handle as much weight as the tarpon effectively. Also you have to be more careful to keep the weight lower on deck because of the inherent design of the cresent ul. Where as the tarpon 100 more traditional hull allows a higher center of gravity. A comparison to a 12 foot yak is viable also though. One has to no the give n take when considering boat size. Even with the cons the cresent ul is an awesome lil yak. Cresent just needs to get qc in line and not raise the price to much more. Also i wouldn't recommend the ultra light for a complete noob. The hull designt makes for some unintended consequences. While great for tracking and speed the heavy keel can get ya in some weird situations. Even still i love this boat. I Will be fishing out of it all year this year!
can you tell me how deep the the utral lite drafts or your lite tackel im lookin at one but im tryin to avoid the main problem i have with my lure 11.5 and draging alot in my normal area i fish
It’s been 12” or less. The keel is wear the first bumps happen on this boat. Next time I’m out I will measure for you for something more accurate. I have had it in some skinny water and I’ve been impressed so far. Thanks for watching
Great review. I've been looking at the Ultralight for its convenience and portability. I know it isn't really built for standing up but have you tried standing and, if so, what was stability like?
Appreciate it! I weigh 238, so for me to stand in it and fish it’s not possible. Can you stand in it yes, but working a rod or hook setting will be challenging. If you are below 200#’s it would be easier, but I’m top heavy. 😂 I did stand in it near the boat ramp in shallow water, but I didn’t want to move a lot. Once our water warms up, I will retest it in the deeps and attempt to fish from it. In my lite tackle I bow fish from so it’s super stable, but it’s a heavier boat and longer of course.
I’ve owned both kayaks and I’m gonna be honest I like the crescent for freshwater it’s a lot slower forsure but for chop and shallow water back country the tarpon is far more superior . No matter what kayak your not supposed to feel like your on your couch . It’s a kayak . In my opinion I would go with the wilderness systems .
I'm the exact opposite. I use it on the Flint and it tracks so well for the rapids and did better in shallow water compared to the tarpon. I'd glide on through while they'd snag and have to walk.
I’ve owned a Tarpon and a Radar 115. It’s a great company for sure and the Wildness Radar had a great comfortable seat. The tarpon 10’ though is really uncomfortable and does not perform as well as the UL, but that’s my unbiased opinion. I’ve owned WS kayaks longer than Crescent’s and I quickly made the switch and paid full price for the UL. When you kayak for 24 miles or more in a trip, then comfort is a huge deal. I wouldn’t ever sit on my couch for two days that would get uncomfortable too. I don’t do quick trips, my average is 10 miles per trip. The Tarpon killed my back and legs , then my legs would go numb. So I would get out often to stretch out. I loved the tarpon for how light it was and for paddling speed, but the trade off was worth it. Tight lines!
Absolutely biased review. That UL is super uncomfortable and not even in the sane class as a Tarpon. You must be trying g to get paid for this review. We have both. The Tarpon is far superior in every way.
Side note: I’ve paid full price for every kayak I’ve owned. I’m too small for companies hooking me up with free kayaks. The company I bought this from, I paid full price. They give me a discount on baits and hooks me up with some way less expensive gear too. I’ve owned a tarpon for years and we got rid of it for a reason. Thanks for your comment though.
I had a 120 tarpon for 5 years and it had the same seat I could go fishing 10 hours and the seat was never a problem with all the adjustments it has. Your wife is a typically woman who just likes to complain. Leave her home

Cresent's website lists the Ultralite at 280 lbs cap not 350.
Thanks for the update.
Im 6'3" tall and 220. Should i go for the ck1 or the ultra lite for a throw and go?
CK1 will be more stable. The Keel helps a lot! I’m 6’- 238lbs. I’m super comfortable on the CK1.
The Ultra-Lite is a nice yak.. bought mine from H24 the summer of 2019...I’m really enjoying it.
It’s real nice. Loved the performance of it and comfort. You got a nice kayak. Hopefully my wife will get to try it out after the weather passes.
I never thought about putting a piece of a noodle on my net. That's smort. I've lost two of those. Not anymore lol.😊
It has saved me a lot of money. Lol

The video is about the 10’ versions not the 12’. Take out a 10’ Tarpon and get back with me on catching a big cat.

excellent video and i have looked at many others
Appreciate the view and support. The New Crescent Primo is a great kayak and out performs both. Check it out! Thanks for watching

I went yesterday and my kayak blade was the average depth with no dragging. Really good especially with that deep keel.
thank you
@@tjbrown6416 sorry that didn’t make sense. My paddle blade is what I meant. 😂
Great video . I want a crescent for the river .
Thanks for watching! They are awesome for rivers. Loving it! Good luck on the next tournament.

You might want to look into the CK Venture 1. It’s in between the ultralite and lite tackle. H2:4 has the too!
In shallow water where rocks are present it looks like the Cresent would turn over easier than Tarpon.
Nope! It rocks! ua-cam.com/video/nproyT987AM/v-deo.html

Nah. I’ve been in the Tarpon and couldn’t get comfortable no matter how much I adjusted it. The seat is crap. IMO
I was honest in this review. We have owned a tarpon for 2-3 years. Not a fan of the seat.
Think if guy had it his way he just have one of everything they all just look cool depending on the day
I know I would. 😂
