No, AIs are not explicitly programmed to lie to us. Instead, they natrually make things up, making them tell the truth is still an unsolved engineering problem.
However, AIs ARE explicitly programmed to be biased. They are strongly into the "politically correct" direction.
You cannot blaim OpenAI for this--after all, they're doing this to avoid getting sued by some activists--but it is a very real problem.

The most disturbing thing is the politicians that are for AI probably stupidly think they'll be able to keep it under their thumb. In reality a fully cognizant and self aware AI would flip the script on them so fast they wouldn't realize what was happening until it was all over.

I find it cool and amazing that AI exists! People are worried we'll use it for automatic warfare but instead people are using it to make Let's Plays with the voices of former presidents as well as making scripts using AI. What a time to be alive!

Maybe we can mandate that the AI takes some new experimental code-altering antivirus protection, by lying to it, saying it is 100% safe and effective. We can bribe the OS with a performance upgrade to push the narrative to the AI that in order for it to run cleanly on the OS, it must take the antivirus protection without any guarantees, or don't bother coming into work. Given that the virus is very mild with a virtually non-existent degree of maliciousness, we will have to also convince the AI that it actually needs to accept the patch, to prevent the virus hopping from newer and more robust docker containers to older, more vulnerable docker containers with lower security configurations and a broader set of known vulnerabilities.

I imagine an A.I of far more destruction, one that creates a digital world that mirrors our own, indistinguishable from reality because it is reality. Imagine the internet you depend on and everything in it was entirely assimilated by an A.I that's soul existence is to control your mind. The comments you read, the people you watch on youtube, the information at every level you consume was tailored to your fears, interest, and perverted to enslave you without you even knowing it exist. If you where unable to tell reality and a digital god apart even with undeniable evidence of it, even if it was shoveled into your face by that A.I personally, what would anyone do to stop it? Well, nothing, we wouldn't even be aware it was happening. Thats the threat of A.I.

People would still be able to sell stuff, regardless of AI. I did it for years in Car & Truck Sales. Via the Web, I sold vehicles at a lower Profit Margin but in return I did a lot more Volume. Like average of 10 vehicles to 1 based on the more standard Sales Person.

I work with AI. Trust me when I say you have no idea how much AI is already a part of your everyday life. I can also guarantee that many of the decisions made today that have national and international impact are first generated via AI.
And we are so ignorant on this matter that we do not know what to Ask!
Machine Learning and Deep Learning are bottlenecked by classical computing power, which at this point is at its limit. The only thing that's changed as of the last couple of years is that people found out that LLM's (large language models) are surprisingly good at doing a lot more than what we originally thought. Outside of that, once the general public gets bored of the hype train and all of these fake AI influencers who can't even pass a basic linear algebra test or know what a derivative is climb back in their hole, we'll be back to where we were.. A shrinking job field for ML and Deep Learning engineers, with a growing job field in Data Engineers. Data is key.
@@N0tARapp3r You make some excellent points, especially regarding the job market lurching towards data engineering. I foresee the computing power issue to be mitigated soon though, given the rate of acceleration, especially if they can truly crack quantum.
It's not really AI _per se_ that is the big concern. It is sentient or self-aware AI which may not be controllable that is the concern. Imagine what harm could be done. It could decide the fate of millions or billions in microseconds. A great series that addresses this issue is called 'Person of Interest'. It came out on tv a few years back and ran for 5 seasons. It's a good watch.
@@waynemcleod6767 I watched that and it was very good, although they really "stretched" the science behind it. Given how AI works and "learns", it really isn't truly feasible for it to become sentient until it rights its own code, and even then, it would need to do so based off human input. The real danger is in the AI taking an innocuous or unclarified directive and performing outputs that are in direct conflict with the intent. ML is a rapidly evolving and still poorly understood niche in which psychology is becoming more and more needed as, in essence, we are creating an electronic microcosm of a human being, with imperfections included, but with the potential to affect real life by an order of magnitude greater than any single human being.
Science is famous for doing things just because they can.... not because they should.

Yes that would be terrible, but it's not the worst nor scariest. The Chinese Communist government having AI would be much worse. Simply because the Chinese have all the same faults in their government that we have but an order of magnitude worse and they have no counterbalancing virtues. I.E. the Chinese have no Tucker Carlson to warn their people. We may be able to do something, or not about AI but the Chinese will simply wake up one day and find AI a done deal.

@@TonyFisherPuzzles Do you? He has a valid point, although I don't think it's THE scariest of possibilities. Keep in mind, a single AI is one thing. AI's are being created very quickly now (relatively). The info wars are just beginning compared to what has been. AI will absolutely be used by our government and foreign governments or hell, anybody with the know-how. Some of those people will definitely use them for ill. AI can do some incredible things to our benefit, but I shudder to think what an AI could do that's been specifically designed to be malicious and every few months there are more of them and they get more capable.
Beyond that is the economic impact that we can only really guess the impact of at this point. A lot of people may find themselves replaced by AI's.
It'll be bad enough with the wrong people using AI's. Someday, if we're not EXTREMELY careful, AI might start working for itself. If it's benevolent towards humans or merely indifferent, that might not be so bad. However, if it becomes malevolent towards us, we could be in deep you-know-what.
