Of course his ratings helped, but everything good must come to an end. This just spelled the end of “cable news” in general.

Elon's sense of humor is priceless
What a character this man is. I heard him say in an interview regarding SpaceX that he'd "never made anything before". But he ended up being the top engineer for the company when he couldn't find any one willing to take the risk. Asked how he could prepare for that kind of complex job he just said he "read a few books and talked to some people". The magnitude of that individual accomplishment is almost unparalleled.
I don't think Elon is contributing much to the engineering side of SpaceX. Learning rocket science probably takes a little more time and effort than reading a few books and talking to some people. He's probably more focused on the business side.

I was talking to someone 15-20 years ago, when I was a teen. I asked him how someone can be successful with the economy and the world the way it was then. He said something I’ll never forget. If you want to be successful, create something that will benefit society, create and think of ideas that will benefit society as a whole. Then I look at Musk and he’s done and is doing those things. His wealth speaks for itself.

You can tell that Elon is very genuine in his conversation and emotional at the same time. He really cares about this country and sees where it is going based on his actions. For example, look at his take on AI. The fact that he reversed his stance on the technology knowing that it will do more harm than good tells you a bit about who he is. I once had a boss that ended up doing something similar. He was on a business trip staying at a hotel trying to sleep and he couldn’t because of the noise so he asked the hotel manager to allow him to move to a different room.
