There's hard-core carp anglers, and the there's Ben Mir. I carp fished around the Scottish Borders for around 10 years, and the weather alone is enough to put most off. Nothing is colder than a gale force Easterly that's come straight off the North Sea. Top film and an absolute legend!
Absolutely excellent little film, a carp angling pal of mine used to bream fish this venue, before he got into carp fishing, we’re from the north east of England, ( and he was actually the official bream record holder ) Scottish record, caught from castle Loch ! he used to talk about the carp in there and what it was like hooking one accidentally on the bream tackle ( always snapped you up or got away) but bream wise he was the boyo for a few years. Nowadays he’s a successful carp angler. 💯🔥
Great video Ben cracking fish you go far and beyond most carp anglers I have ever seen lovely to see your still chasing the dream not seen you since once on Cromwell but I new then you were special keep it up Ben and take care ray at York
What a lovely geezer, that is one hell of a bit of angling, to have these captures in Scotland is no easy task and I should think very few people will ever accomplish these kind of results, brilliant video and I hope to see more of this man in the future 💪👊
Was about to go to sleep then saw the title of the video. Safe to say I’ve just finished the whole thing. Fished castle loch with my old man as a kid for pike. Incredible to think fish like that are in there. Incredible proper hardcore angling that! 👏
Brilliant story buddy I was impressed by your journey on Castle Loch I fished on the loch on 😂holiday 40 years ago for a bit of piking. Was renowned for big bream and big pike at the time a magical place. Good luck with your quest buddy.
You my friend are the ideal example of a dedicated angler.well done for what you have achieved. Keep angling my friend and formally all your dreams congratulations. There's nothing like a buitifull common . Mirrors are buitifull fish but there's something about a common carp
Probably one of the best Avid videos I've seen. Fairplay to him for his persistence and skills, respect sir. Loved the shot with the drone through the back of the bivvy, nice one.
That’s tough going and dedication so much effort and time really enjoyed your video and admire your determination and thinking regards from Bournemouth

Cracking to hear your stories Ben. A pioneer in scottish carping for sure. Met you a few times back in the day before a moved away. I had a few big tench off the canal when you got that 1st 30lbr. Some area.Keep the catch reports coming 🎣🏴

Great listening to ur carping adventures over the years , u deserved them fish the time and effort u put in , wishing u many more memories to come , found it really interesting , keep up the good work 👍 👏
Great video, I fished Castle Loch back in the 90s after Bream remember talking to people, how said you see the odd carp on top in summer but no body fishes for them. Such a shame the massive head of Bream has been all but wiped out, sure the lake still holds Scottish Bream record.
Did you ever catch the tench or bream ,while after the carp ,,we used to hook carp after the bream biggest 23 lb common ,but hooked into some larger ones but never banked them on bream tackle 😮
lot off hard work put in, i wont say you only catch fat gold fish anymore,. great insight into what you do, to catch big fish. keep up the good work mate
One of the greatest uk captures of all time. As proper as it gets!

Totally agree Russell, outstanding capture from a phenomenally hard piece of water

Great story telling👏🎣
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m complaining about 6 fish on a commercial fishery and there is this legend happy with 5 BITES in the whole winter haha
😮😮😮 thats some capture 😮😮😮
Great video. Looks like Scotland could do with someone dropping in a few mirrors !
Those armour plated old commons just seem to last so much longer with the otters. It seems the mirrors are much easier for the otters to grab hold of
@@AvidCarpFishingTV Interesting....i guess there are more scales to slip and let a common get away.
Awsome fish.🎣
I remember these captures back in the day only just realised it was the same bloke! So makes it so much more impressive 👌👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fair play to ya mate uve caught some mega carp in Scotland. Well done 👏
