I take care of my elderly mother. 90 years of age of a loving giving life. Today she was diagnosed with advanced dementia and I'm in a whole new world. I came home, held her hand, made her a cup of tea and just took in her marvelous smile. Then off to my room to cry. Then she fell. I rushed to her as she laughed and said "oopsie". I helped her up and back to her chair. Then I brought up UA-cam for some reason and was blessed with this beautiful song. I hope you, the Petersens, know how much your music is adored, and today for nyself, much needed. Thank you.
I did not know this gospel tune and I loved it. I am a french christian and the Petersens music helps me when I am feeling blue. Kate mentioned at the end of the video that she went thru hard times , i pray for her that it is all over , because she is charming and seems so kind.

This is a song that got me through the death of my 3 year old daughter. I think we played it at her funeral. Because the only way I can survive this grief is by the holy, benevolent and enduring love, grace and power of God.
My wife decided to end our marriage. I am leaving our home for the final time in just a few minutes. This hymn came to me by Sovereign design. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about the end of your marriage. Been through it myself and it's not a nice time. Christ does sustain through things. I've had circumstances in my life that he's just sovereignly put together. Hang on in and keep trusting. God bless!
Praying! God is your refuge and strength. It's very brave of you to encourage others through your note even though those few minutes must be emotional moments. God be with you.
Returning home each day from radiation treatments I keep coming back to this song for strength and peace of heart. May God continue to bless you all and the ministry you provide to His glory; amen.
I agree! This wonderful performance shows once again that there is something very powerful about hymns. They carry the Good News to more ears than any sermon will reach and take it deeper into our hearts than any theological tract can touch.
How Firm A Foundation is a Christian hymn dating back to the eighteenth century, included at number 128 in the collection of the English Baptist minister John Rippon "A Selection of Hymns from the Best Authors" of 1787, also known as "Rippon's Selection" The author of this Hymn has never been identified with certainty. However, the most credited would have to be Robert Keen (or Keene), who was the cantor at Carter Lane Baptist Church in London when John Rippon was the pastor. The hymn is sung to this day on the melody of "Protection" (also called "Foundation") contained in No. 254 in "A Compilation of Genuine Church Music" compiled by the American composer Joseph Funk in 1832. However the real composer of "Protection" does not appear to be J. Funk , but still unknown. How Firm a Foundation is a well-known hymn, which is also highly regarded in political and military circles. It was General Robert E. Lee's favorite hymn. It was sung at several funerals of prominent US politicians and presidents, including Theodore Roosevelt. What a pretty hymn, and so beautifully played! They sang a few lines of this hymn in the church scene in Outer Range (S1E1) and you know church singing, could barely pick up the lyrics. Yet I tried a search this morning to find "the hymn in episode one," sure it was an absolute long shot, and here it is! Wow. Seek, and ye shall find. Thanks for sharing!
[Thank you/Countryroad brought me here.] The sentence 'Manners maketh man.' noticed in a shop reminded me of the movie 'King's man', 'Countryroad -one of my nickname in the christians' broadcasting system in korea' whrere i walked for 1 hour to go to church in this sunday time zone'. After listening that, i became to listen to this. You all are beautiful and handsom, charming. i was very glad to see & listen to the sound of contrabass especially.

This is my latest Petersen obsession song, and not only for the performance, which was the height of joyful excellence. Looking through the comments, it's wonderful to see the gift music is; in hard times and in good. I've also got to say that it's impossible for me to not be charmed by Katie's happiness in the outro. God bless you all.
❤️ Suonata e cantata splendidamente, come sempre. Ciao The Petersens.
Using these words right now as we pray for a dear sister and friend to be raised up from her sickbed of liver cancer. Blessings to all of you for this wonderful and encouraging spiritual song!.
Such a powerful message in this day and age, even though this hymn is centuries old. There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Love yall bunches and we’ll see you next month.
I love the old hymns they have a lot packed into the verses and chorus lines. The writers knew God, walked with Him, and it blesses my heart to hear you all perform them!
Bagged myself a ticket for the Sept 2023 gig, Bush Hall, London..🇬🇧.Extremely pleased. A big fan here from lockdown March 2020.... this is going to be a real treat and it saves me a flight to Branson! Cannot wait...😊
Wonderful hymn choice, Petersens (and Emmett, of course)! Perfect timing on the release... I just learned that Tim Keller passed away today and these words are so comforting in the face of this deep loss for the Church: When through the deep waters I call you to go The rivers of sorrow will not overflow For I will be with you, your troubles to bless And sanctify to you your deepest distress
I don’t believe in God, but I find this music incredibly beautiful… this music makes me want to try to believe. -my dog died and I became homeless, it’s been darkness. -Yet the brightest song (and the people behind it) seemingly appears with the light breaking thru. Here in South England, I have begun to learn the banjo and so I stumbled upon this. It’s really gorgeous. This song somehow reminds me of being with my dog… so thank you for that gift. I am grateful. Oh and the second melody of the fiddle is gorgeous right? -Josh
Now it is mine too, thank you so much Katie and the rest of the band for such a beautifull performance... I started counting down the days until your performance in Cork🎉😊
Throughout the past five years I've been building a plan to relocate to Southern Missouri, where my heart really is. Much of the motivation, a side from access to a more opportunistic job market, has been a deep longing to actually meet The Petersens. I've been very keen to meet them since first discovering them in 2017. I shall be in Missouri to stay in late Spring of 2024!😊😊😊
Thank you for this beautiful song, it showed up at just the right time, I love the Petersons music, it has helped me through several trials in the last few years, especially when I lost my husband to covid in 2020, and now as I am in the hospital going into the 12th day.... I am so thankful my Redeemer lives, and that he loves me and cares for me, Praise the Lord!!!
Once again what is most striking is the extraordinary musical arrangement. In particular the instrumental interludes where the dobro and the fiddle blend in perfect harmony and Mamma who towards the end underlines the melody with the bow. And of course Katie's emotional voice that reaches soaring heights when she sings these hymns. Thanks as always! ❤
Hey Roberto! Beautiful comment, to which I say a big Amen! I love this arrangement as well. It is very creative and definitely makes me reflect upon the lyrics to a entirely new level!
@@emmajo4880 Thanks Emma. Yes, I think it's a great arrangement, very new and unique to this hymn! Tomorrow I want to start looking for the chords because it seems to me that this time too there are some peculiarities and surprises. Have a great weekend, as usual!
A Petersens video loads. I've clicked "Like" even before the first musical notes arrive - it's a simple given that even a song I've never heard before (like this one) will become a favourite of mine.
Without that foundation faith in Christ Jesus life isn't worth living. Thanks for this song. I watch all your music. I live in the UK it's great seeing you. I wondered where your sister was. Be nice to see the young lady back. She's missed. 4:40
I attended the 2nd to last live travel show (Booth Playhouse, Charlotte, NC in August of 2022) before the exodus of our beloved Julianne. Now, it is at the end of this amazing musical tribute to our savior, that we learn of the impending return to full family strength of The Petersens... That is a prayer answered!!!
*LYRICS - How Firm A Foundation*
------------
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word
What more can He say than to you He hath said?
To you, who for refuge to Jesus have fled
Fear not, I am with you, oh be not dismayed
For I am your God and will still give you aid
I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand
Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand
When through the deep waters I call you to go
The rivers of sorrow will not overflow
For I will be with you, your troubles to bless
And sanctify to you your deepest distress
When through fiery trials your pathway will lie
My grace all-sufficient will be your supply
The flame will not hurt you, I only design
Your dross to consume, and your gold to refine
That soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I will not desert to its foes
That soul, though all Hell should endeavor to shake
Well, I'll never - no never - no never forsake
That soul, though all Hell should endeavor to shake
I'll never - no never - no never forsake
Album: Hopefully a future album
Thanks, Liz!

In the heartland where the bluegrass thrives,
There's a band that brings joy with their musical vibes.
Their name is The Petersens, a family united,
Each member gifted, their talents ignited.
Katie, the fiddler with strings full of grace,
Her melodies soar, a sweet violin embrace.
Ellen, the banjo mistress, her fingers so swift,
Plucking the strings with a rhythm and lift.
Their brother Matt, the backbone, on the guitar,
His steady beats grounding each note with grace.
And Julianne, the youngest, sings with pure delight,
Her voice, a beacon, shining through the night.
Emmett Franz, the dobro player, a soulful sound,
His strings weeping, emotions unbound.
Together they gather at the Little Opry Theater,
Sharing their gifts, making spirits feel lighter.
In the midst of this musical kinship divine,
Stands Karen, the matriarch, a force so fine.
With grace and love, she strums the bass with pride,
Her steady hand, a pillar by their side.
Their songs, melodic, touch deep in the soul,
Gospels and covers, a tapestry that they unroll.
"Take Me Home, Country Roads," their anthem rings,
Transporting us to places where the heart sings.
And "Jolene," a timeless classic they embrace,
Breathing new life into its cherished space.
With harmonies woven, their voices entwined,
They bring new dimensions to songs of every kind.
On UA-cam, their presence shines bright,
A global audience captivated by their light.
But it's the stage where they truly come alive,
The Petersens, a band for whom we all strive.
So let's raise our voices, let the music resound,
For The Petersens, whose passion knows no bounds.
May their bluegrass melodies forever flow,
Bringing joy and inspiration wherever they go.

Looking through the comments, it's wonderful to see the gift music is; in hard times and in good. I've also got to say that it's impossible for me to not be charmed by Katie's happiness in the outro. God bless you all.
Everything you guys do is so seemingly effortless. Such raw talent and skill
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF THE PETERSENS
Suonata e cantata splendidamente, come sempre.
Ciao The Petersens.
Your family and your music has been inspirational and it is wonderful to see more glory to Jesus and our father in heaven God bless you all
Using these words right now as we pray for a dear sister and friend to be raised up from her sickbed of liver cancer. Blessings to all of you for this wonderful and encouraging spiritual song!.
Katie's beautiful voice ,and dobro in perfect harmony with the fiddle sounds like the ringing of bells.
I just love this hymn and this is one of the best renditions I've ever seen. Thank you.
Such a powerful message in this day and age, even though this hymn is centuries old. There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Love yall bunches and we’ll see you next month.
There is no foundation other than Jesus Christ! Let us take heed how we build on the foundation. Thank you for a wonderful song.
I'm here dear friends! Happy to see you again Ciao from Italy 🇮🇹! With love and friendship.
I can see why this song has become a favorite for Katie. And you can tell it is because I think this is purest and strongest I've heard her sing.
Big Fan from Brazil
Wonderful hymn choice, Petersens (and Emmett, of course)!
Perfect timing on the release... I just learned that Tim Keller passed away today and these words are so comforting in the face of this deep loss for the Church:
When through the deep waters I call you to go
The rivers of sorrow will not overflow
For I will be with you, your troubles to bless
And sanctify to you your deepest distress
Waiting very exited for your ticket link to Cologne. Thank you for comming to Germany this year!
Did you get tickets? There are only a few left now www.kvstickets.com/the-petersens-kulturkirche-koeln
Did you see the band are unexpectedly back in Cologne this summer! Ticket links in the description of the latest video 😊
wow, you made me cry. Thanks for being a light in dark times. Your music uplifts the weary hearted traveler....
Listening to a new arrangement of a classic hymn really adds to my understanding of the meaning behind the poetry. Thank you for that. God is great!
-Josh
How Firm a Foundation is one my favorite hymns, it's powerful and truthful. Thank you for singing it and uplifting us.
Beautiful hymn and the music and words are peaceful yet powerful. Truth, strength and peace through Christ our firm foundation.
The song gives me hope when all around we seem to have lost our Christian values and our faith, thank you
Now it is mine too, thank you so much Katie and the rest of the band for such a beautifull performance...
Your family is a well of strength for so many people. God bless you Petersens.
The words to this song are awesome, like so many of the old hymns. Thank you for sharing!
She brought me to tears today.
Way to belt it out Katie! Lovely job all the way around. Your hymns always touch this ole heart.
Thank you for blessing us with your gift of music 🎶
Robert E Lee 's favorite hymn, thanks so much for your beautiful rendition.
You were absolutely right, Roberto, where you wrote in a previous comment I'd love this one too ! :)
@@Oldfaithful61 👍
Roberto you said it just right. God bless you my friend
Another great performance. Blessings to you all.
WOW! Not at all what I was expecting. Excellent arrangement. And as worshipful as the old standard. Well done!
Дай Вам - Господь - Здоровья и Божьей Благодати!!!
One of my favorite hymns sung by one of my favorite groups. Jesus the believer's unshakable foundation.
Wonderful music as always - thank you for sharing your gift to the world. And congratulations to Michael & Ellen!
Congrats on baby, college graduation, and continued good performances
A Petersens video loads. I've clicked "Like" even before the first musical notes arrive - it's a simple given that even a song I've never heard before (like this one) will become a favourite of mine.
I'm a fan. Such a talented and lovely family. Come tour in the Pacific Northwest! I'd love to see a full concert. Love the old-timey hymns.
Without that foundation faith in Christ Jesus life isn't worth living. Thanks for this song. I watch all your music. I live in the UK it's great seeing you. I wondered where your sister was. Be nice to see the young lady back. She's missed. 4:40
Thanks guys ! Prayers. God Bless you all in ❤ Lets go home soon ! Maranatha !
"Actually, this our last video . . ." NOOOOOO!
". . . without Julianne . . ." YES!!!!!
BTW, that was a beautiful performance.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for introducing me to this hymn. Congratulations to Julianne on her graduation!
There is a lot of passion exhibited in the way y’all sand that song. Very nice.
You're a blessing.
What lovely musicality they bring to this hymn ! It's the signature of great talent !!!
