- A match between Dural and Jacky from the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5.
Yes, I know the commentary isn't all that great and no, I can't turn it off (although I wish I could).
EDIT: Apparently, you can turn off the commentary if you set it to zero in the game options. I'll be doing that now in my next VF5 videos :)

I didn't bother with DoA until last year. It surprises me that it's actually a well polished fighter. Almost designed like Virtua Fighter, yet has some things that make it different. I think that a VF/DoA crossover will be an awesome idea. Especially since the control scheme won't be weird for someone who plays just one of the two.
VF is like DOA a lot of similiarities i've seen are combat techniques such as staggers and hard hitting combos:D
The losers who shit on this game in the comment section are the same simpletons who spam Hwoarang kicks, Bryan Fury snake edge and Kazuyas 4 jumping spin kicks. Then they think they are skillful.
Wow, this was just total domination from Dural.
I'd expect nothing less from the final boss of Virtua Fighter.
I am sick of listening to those who dislike this game. It is one of the few figthing games where buttonmashing doesnt mean victory. It is also one of the most complete fighting games of all time, since its pretty much the most balanced fighting game of all time. I might like Tekken better, but I would play this game anyday over unbalanced fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
hey man i like the commentary! its a great idea, i hope they keep trying it because it can only get better. Considering it was AM2's first attempt at having commentary ina fighting game it wasn't THAT bad. Ive seen wrestling games with worst commentating. imagine if they could get someone like joe rogan or an MMA dude to do the commentary for VF5FS or VF6(hopefully there's a VF6 in the next console gen.) in the future! that would be awesome!!

Virtua Fighter may be more realistic than Tekken, but that doesn't mean it more fun, which is all that matters to me when playing video games.
VF is the most realistic looking fighting game ever. DOA looks like 2 people having a funky dance party.
@theend1245 That's because it's a staple to Virtua Fighter. Ever since the first game, it's always aimed to be as realistic as possible.
VF isn't that hard to learn but to play it well requires a great knowledge of the game and a knowledge of your opponents habits.

You mean the juggles, right? Those I find harder to do than the most basic combo.
I find the Tekken vs Virtua Fighter debate really confusing because, on one side, Tekken combos are hard and can finish the fight quicker, while the other side, Tekken's just a button masher as VF is more realistic.
I for would not go realistic because that would ruin the fun for me. Must a game be easy to lurn, hard to master? Or hard to control, big to reward?

It's not that you asked a question, rather that you seemed to assume that VF ripped off Tekken when it was in fact the other way around.

This is like...watching chess with controllers. Even though I'm a Blazblue/MK9 player, I have to admit I find Street Fighter and Tekken more entertaining to watch.
@leokliensen66 Well, both characters fight using jeet kune do, the style that Bruce Lee invented. But on tekken 6, I don't use Law. Too many people play with him. I play with Armor King. And on VF I do however play with Jacky, but I actually went to training with him. I also like how people say that VF does no juggling, but then this video of Jacky fighting Dural contradicts that. And It's actually worse, since there's ring out on this game.
Actually, VF is extremely successful in the East, where as Tekken has a somewhat similar success in the West. Tekken is top dog in the West, VF is top dog in the East.
While I do like Tekken a bit more, I do admit that the whole auto gaurd thing is pretty bullshit. Hell, it's practically exploitable in some versions of the series. When I say exploitable, I mean that people have beaten others in arcades without touching the stick. VF isn't as noob friendly in regards to defensive play.
I have a feeling AM2 would make an option to either turn off the commentary or have it in Japanese.
say i set the settings to very easy and to 1 round. would i still get dural when i beat arcade mode with every character?
the thing I like about this game in comparison to tekken is that there is no cheap combos, there are combos but they are in no way cheap. there's a good balance.

I love Soul Calibur, like Tekken and Super Street Fighter, and still deciding about Mortal Kombat. Not sure what I think about this one....
1. Virtua fighter 5. Very much fighting immersion, lots of moves, great gameplay.
2. Soul Calibur 2. Deep gameplay, variety of players, cool weapons.
3.Bloody Roar 2. Amazing game has all those moves, deep fighting mechanics since 1999

Ha ha I totally forgot it had this commentary in it ! It just amuses me that someone earned their paycheck by shouting "BIG ELBOW! " and "CANT ESCAPE !" . As amusing as this is it could be cool in a future fighting game if they could have a more realistic Esport like commentary
I haven't played trek ken since relentless tag ps2, but virtua fighter 5 is my favourite fighter this gen. It's the one I played most, occasionally online but trying recently it seems hardly anyone does now. Cool game.

Tekken is all about flashy characters (Bears, Jack, and Unknown say hello.), flashy graphics, and appeal, why Virtua is straight up fighting.

I am a Sarah Bryant player, does Dural have any weaknesses? I fought her, she seems impossible, due that she does not exploit any weaknesses. Tactics anybody or advice??
Wow. Just goes to show how powerful Dural is in the game. A valiant effort by Jacky, though.
Virtua Fighter or DOA will never sell more than Tekken
any one who says this game plays like tekken...you fail lol this series was out before tekken, therefore tekkens gameplay is like this :P no virtua fighter= no tekken
America knows this series is good as recognized by the Smithsonian.

Middle up to Quest Mode, when you start taking on the Master AI (the "dan" of the character screen matters little), you arent going to do that.

Lol, nothing obviously, some fanboy mustve posted some story about Street Fighter being the best.. Ive only played VF since evolution on PS2, but at least its had some genuine effort.. all the street fighter games this decade have felt like uninspired cash-ins tbh.

I think I may pick it up just to test out it's gameplay, I know the last time I tried it was ps2 and it was pretty fun, and now it didn't seem to make any major graphical enhancements with the competition. I guess the better the gameplay the more sacrifices you gotta make. Eg: Vitua fighter:Tekken:SFIV:MK:MvC from complicated programing to simpler programming.
@RagnaTheBadguy No kidding. Even though I'm more of a Tekken guy, I have to say objectively VF is the most in-depth 3D fighting game out there
wuw...those were some awesome moves by Dural. I only have Virtua Fighter 4 evolution, but it seems they gave her moves from every character...women's agility, guys punches, wolf's throw...That was pretty awesome tho. Jacky didn't stand a chance. 5/5 tho the comments are, of course, very obvious and irritating. The part I liked tho was when they said "That's not the way you wanna go out" haha. Jacky must have felt like crap. Almost excellent too at the end.
That silver thing looks broken, but this franchise seems to have come a long way since I played it on the Dreamcast...
@TAY141P Well when this game starts getting played in tournaments the game'll commentate itself. It's already one step ahead of Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and Tekken.

Um Virtua Fighters First game was in 1993 but in 2.5d. MORTAL KOMBAT was realesed in 1992 but in 2.5d. Mortal Kombats first 3D game's final release was in 1997 and Virtua's was in 2004 people.

Those people would be wrong anyway because Tekken has a similar, yet different mostly combo system. Virtua Fighter has combos with commands no longer than maybe 6 buttons and you only meed to press them one at a time in [most] cases.
In Tekken, commands are longer, more complicated (and confusing) commands and most segments of a combo require two buttons at once per segment.
Similar, yet they differ. Personally, Virtua Fighter is the better series. Just looking at characters, VF is better.
yeah i agree VF games imo take a greater amount of skill than other fighting games, and other games in general

Actually, if it wasn't for Sega's Heavyweight Champ, the first ever fist-fighting game, there would be no fighting games. Although it was Street Fighter II that defined the genre and made it into what it is now.

You are way off. For starters, Tekken uses a sort of Auto Guard feature where as Virtua Fighter requires you to actually push a button to guard. along with that, they are different in button layout, arena setup, physics, and much more that make the two completely different. I've played various parts of both series and can tell you straight forward that both games are way too different to be compared.
....and back to Super Street Fighter IV. Virtua Fighter used to be dope back in the day. What happened?!?

I do admit, I think Brawl is a great game, but it just seems overly mainstream and has far more popularity than the other fighters you mentioned. Even all the kids act like it's the only fighter.
To be saying random button mashing gets combo's in this game is absurd. There's only THREE buttons, you're saying jamming them in gets combos? No sense at all because if he were, chances are he's mashing the guard button and preventing him from even attacking in the fire place.

@StickyickyX I don't like it for noob discouragement or for complicated mechanics, I just like it when a fighting game uses character animations that can be seen in real martial arts (even if their all form techniques instead of sparring techniques).
I like to look at characters who don't fight with form so shitty that even I could beat them, and who aren't so unrealistically powerful no one could beat them.
It's just a martial artist's prejudice towards realism, but it's not unwarranted :P

Fighting games by Sega vs fighting games by Namco vs fighting games by Tecmo. The boss would be Raidou. Engine would be VF5's...and the console release would have a guest character...Geese!
I like virtua fighter. Don't get me wrong about this.....But like can you even unlock characters in those games. The game seems boring after awhile. I guess I'm a Tekken and Mortal Kombat person.

The Virtua Fighter series is way better than the Tekken series. VF actually has matches. Tekken doesn't have matches so much as is has ownagefests where every attack does the same amount of damage (HUGE damage) so matches are boring and last only 15 seconds. There's a degree of strategy involved in Virtua Fighter. Tekken also has ungodly long button commands for special moves that no one can memorize. VF keeps it generally simple.

VF is perhaps THE most balanced fighter i ever played with all characters seemingly able to compete against one another on equal grounds but Dural has got to be the most broken evil she bitch to grace the series lol. THANK GOD she's banned from tournys lol.

The only button mashing that is useful in tekken is with eddy guardo, theres no fucking way it gets you any type of combo, In tekken the combos are all about split second timing, they are much more complicated than you think. Tekken owns this fucking game.
I like Tekken even more than Viruta Fighter with an only Reason: In virtua Fighter there are no good unlockable things besides boring Clothes and only one Charakter ( Dural). What i say with that is: In Virtua Fighter 5 there is no Long-Time-Motivation.

Virtua Fighter is still 'dope'. Virtua series has always sold very well and has always been critically acclaimed for it's technicality and realism than other fighting games. Virtua Fighter 5 was ranked as one of the best next-gen fighters due to it's expansion, creativity such as change of clothing and items for characters, graphics and more importantly, balance. To consider youself a great fighting gamer, you have to master Virtua Fighter 5. Tekken's too easy IMO.
@UzumakiSonic619 yeah i agree with you i see no reason to hate on another fighting game that i don't know much about. Maybe the hate for VF comes from ppl having bad experiences not being able to master the game. seriously sometimes when i play my VF4 evo i feel like chucking my controllers or punching the wall lol, especially after losing to the same cpu three times in a row and seeing my win/loss ratio slide in quest.

@puertorricanstar man you gotta know your things. i don't know to much about tekken but i can guarantee you every VF character has uniqueness in their own moves. Actually every fighter in VF uses a form of martial arts, for example jacky uses bruce lee's jeet kune do while wolf uses pro-wrestling moves. theres also shaolin, drunken fist, mantis fist, aikido, mma, some other martial arts. If you go watch a few videos u'll know what i am talking about.
