Probably because I also share the same memories as you when our family spent Christmas together. They also bought these Christmas lights together to make my Christmas days a little bit more special, since we all figured out we didn't really have close friends and there would be no visitors to the house on Christmas eve... They would prop up these lights around our living room, turn off the television and evening radio, prop up the dinner table and light up candles as a power outage happens coincidentally... then we would quietly but happily share the evening together with some food and hopes and dreams for the future...

I was born legally blind, and my parents bought a set of these lights when I was very young, as they thought I would never be able to see any lights. Although I can see some things, and recently my sight has slightly Improved, this turned out to create some special memories of the wonderful Christmas I had in my early years. I used to get so excited when it was time to put up the tree and hang the decorations.
A lot of us here shed tears to this, or got very emotional. The world has hardened our hearts. This brought us back to our childhood for just a moment.

It works quite similarly to this, except the battery box doesn’t make the music; rather, it contains a microphone that listens to the area around the battery box. Whenever it hears any sound that is above a certain decibel level, it makes the lights flash, so if you put on a bass-heavy song, really cool stuff happens! The brand is Light Mix, if anyone is wondering. Sure, it’s a newer thing and not as old as these lights are, but it’s still very fun!
Same here. I thought I wouldn’t be hearing this anymore when I moved to the US. My aunt in the Philippines had this with the same music control and same tune. The only difference was her’s was clear and the pitch of the music is lower.
I just showed these to my daughter and told her how wonderful it was when these came out and how my mom would leave them on all night on Xmas Eve for Santa and I cried a little in front of her. Happy tears, though. These things were special. 🎄

My mom would put these every year up until I was around 16 when she stopped decorating for Christmas. I have been looking for this for so many hours now. I had no way of finding it! Chiptune is the closest I could think of, and that's an entirely different genre. I am so thankful for this....it reminds me of my family, and so many beautiful Christmases togoether. It brings me back to the sounds, smells, looks, overall vibe..... it's amazing how music can transport you.
