Life Racing Engines (90) - An amateurish Italian effort who purchased an abandoned 1989 F1rst chassis and built their own engine. The L190 powered by a Life W12 engine was comfortably the worst car in F1 history. No, seriously. It was notable for having a body held together by tape, glue and hopeful thoughts, an engine that peaked at 420HP on the few occasions it even worked in a season where the title-winning Mclaren was putting out 700. The team was infamous for lacking basic equipment like tyre pressure gauges and constantly trying to borrow them off of rival teams. The engine had constant misfire issues meaning its fastest time in San Marino prequalifying was over seven minutes and when the team eventually replaced the W12 with a Judd engine the engine cover didn't fit properly and blew off on a straight. Tecno F1 (72 - 73) - Another Italian effort by a team trying to make their own car and engine in the early 70s. Not nearly as awful as Life but so clueless they were half a year late in joining the 72 season and even then built their car several inches wider than the rules permitted, realised this only days before their debut and hurriedly chop-shopped the suspension to make it narrower. Lamborghini Modena SPA (91) - Originally supposed to be GLAS Lamborghini until the owner mysteriously disappeared with the entire (albeit very small) team budget leaving a half finished, very weirdly shaped and awful car that was eventually run by Modena to... zero success. Mastercard Lola (97) - A well documented failure rushed to track a year early, built with F3000 (F2) technology and didn't even see the inside of a wind tunnel until around the time it was due at its first race. Pacific Racing (94 - 95) - A sucessful F3000 (F2) team that tried to jump to F1 and faceplanted hard. The PR01 was basically a two year old Reynard F1 prototype based on the B192 purchased by a group who barely had any clue or budget. The car according to one of their drivers had the torsional strength of spaghetti. In their second year they purchased the husk of the old Lotus team and struggled on for another year but things did not improve much. US F1 - The 'other' recent failed team that was granted an entry in 2010 only to be so inepty managed that by the time the season was due to start they'd produced a few renders of a very primitive looking car, a chassis tub mould and not much else. The FIA was so unimpressed they straight up banned the owners and the team from ever entering F1 again. Notable for being part-owned by former Williams engineer and current UA-cam F1 pundit Peter Windsor.
The three teams who joined in 2010 entered under a false promise of a budget cap. Once it failed to materialise it was the death lock for the three of them.
And Marussia/Manor GP almost survived the false cap. Had they secured 10th place in the constructors on the 2016 Season, they could still exist and fight in the backpart of the midfield, with the Williams and The Alfa Romeos
In defence of HRT (despite how poor they were) they were the only team that didn't really get bought out unlike Virgin that became Marussia and then Manor Racing, Lotus Racing that became Catheram and was planned to be CF1 for 2015 but folded before that came to reality. As for the car, drivers (besides Dani Ricc) it was a pretty bid shambles I'll agree :)
Actually they did, HRT began life as Campos Racing and entered F1 as Campos Meta before Campos was bought out by José Ramón Carabante and rebranded as HRT
These new teams were set up to fail, Bernie and Max promised some amazing cost capping and closer racing for 2010 but that never materialised. It's surprising HRT survived 3 seasons.
Williams 2019. Pretty obvious one. Also, Life is another one. Apparently at the Monaco GP, they were slower than F3 cars. Great video man. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍
BMPH didn't Life enter the 1989 season with a F3000 car before building a proper F1 spec that year? Though as regards that team did they ever pre qualify and actually race?
@@simonbutterfield4860 There's two teams in this story: "First Racing" modified a F3000 car and planned to enter F1 1989 season with Judd V8 engines. Their initial chassis failed mandatory crash test. Second one passed, but was so badly overweight that they withdrew from the season before first race. Ernesto Vita bought that second chassis and use it for Life team in 1989.

I disagree, I’d argue what they achieved was actually pretty amazing considering they had less budget than Lotus/Manor, didn’t design or manufacture large parts of their cars themselves (Dallara did a lot of the first car), had less testing and were the only (and I think first) team based in Spain. Of course they didn’t score points but they were competitive with Lotus & Manor/Virgin
