Hey Danie, I love the build and the channel! I’m an upholsterer and just have a tip for the corners. If you tack off each edge with just one or two staples in the centre and then pull your corners diagonally and tack them off. This holds everything in place. From there, you can staple along each edge from the centres and make a couple neat pleats on each corner. I love that you are not afraid to try anything, it’s really inspiring to me to keep myself moving forward too ☺️
That waterfall edge is *chef’s kiss*. A great concept overall. I love pieces that can be used in a lot of different ways. They always have longer lives and make refreshing our homes so much easier when all you have to do is a little rejig. I mean, just moving the wood piece around would give me that design high every day 😂. Really well executed, Danie 😊
All I could think of was missed opportunity storage for sofa blankets. That's a perfect spot to store blankets for the sofa without always having them out. Love the idea so want to steal it.
Ooh, I love the pencil line trick for helping to make sure the entire surface has been sanded. Having 60+ year old eyes 👀 it sometimes can be challenging to see that I have sanded the entire surface evenly. You never know when an old Seahag like me is going to learn from a wee little whipper snapper like Danie.😂❤️ BTW - GREAT JOB! She is a beauty.👏 Also, that hat is on point.🌺
Beautiful and wonderful project. Great job, Danie. As mothers, we love to see our children over the moon with happiness as you displayed. I am sure your Mom was just as happy as you when she saw the joy you showed with receiving your new saw.
They should be called foot tables! Your project is awesome! Your Mom is incredible. I remember surprise gifts from my mom. They are memories that stuck in my brain.
1:01 "IT'S SHAKING!" Haven't even gotten into the project, but lk reminded why I like this channel. The honesty and humor about DIY/creativity. Glad you and the editor kept that in. BOOP!
The ottoman/coffee table solution is brilliant, and the waterfall table is stunning. You really showcased the wood’s natural beauty! I particularly like that you used the L brackets, because that makes the project manageable for non-expert woodworkers.
It was brilliant! And I thought the same thing!! If necessary, she could cover the "L" brackets with very thin wood strips and use Restore Finish. Either way, this entire set up is beautiful!
Now I'm not a professional but after I reupholstered the ottoman in my bedroom, like you, I didn't like the corners. So when I made an upholstered footstool, I instead decided to sow the corners first to get a clean finish. I did this by putting the fabric over the foam & wood inside out, pinning the fabric at the corners so I had nice smooth seams & got the look I was after. Then I quickly hand sowed, turned it the right way around & put it over the top to check the finish was how I want it, before sowing using a machine & adding the fabric properly.
Another option is to do the corners last and do folded corners. You would staple the fabric on the same way you have but leave about 2 in undone on each side at the corners to manipulate the fabric later.
Girlie as the edit said you need to trust your process. You have a very special magic to you. In most the video your stress and lack of confidence in your skill was on your sleeve. Remeber to have faith in yourself and your vision. It all works out the way its meant to whether it's a learning project or turns out just as you invission. This table ottoman is stunning. I hope you are truely able to see that.
It’s incredible Danie!! You knocked it out of the park this time. You are making some incredible furniture lately. Maybe you’ve found your niche?? You are super good at designing and creating unique pieces of furniture. I love your ability to laugh at and with yourself and be so honest with your confidence level of a certain project. That’s totally fine. We are all newbies when learning a new skill. We all start somewhere! I also have never heard of that wood. But WOW is it incredible!!!
16:54 - BUILD DISCUSSION! I made a cushion just like how you're doing, but for the bathtub (b/c we're not tub people). I used some "boat seating fabric" since it was waterproof and came in a variety of colors for reasonably cheap on Amazon. The cats get a ton of use sitting on it, heck - we sit on it whenever we're brushing teeth, putting socks on, you name it. It's also great for having extra storage space since under the cushions is the tub - store ALL the toilet paper, backup shampoos, or your Christmas presents for others inside. No one would look there. It's a bath tub. :P
Love this idea! 😮❤ Be sure you put a couple coats of water repellant on the fabric. It'd be a shame to have it stain because of a spill. 😢 Put some tap-in glides on the bottom of the wood piece AND on the bottom of the ottoman legs so it will slide across the floor more easily. If you want to get fancy, add rope handles on the 2 short sides of the ottoman to make moving it easier. Get the color to match the fabric. Make it taught, right under the cording that separates the top from the bottom. It won't really be visible, but will make moving it SO much easier! 😊 To get REALLY fancy, add handles on the open ends of the wood piece as well. Get the color to match the wood. Make it taught, right up against the underside of the table top, and set 1" or so back from the edge. It won't really be visible, but will make moving it SO much easier! 😊
Dani, you're a Rockstar! Love your personality and how you go about figuring things out and just jumping into a project. I do the same. Hope the pottery is going well. Remember, failure is your best teacher. You learn the most, and I always tell my students that if you're not failing on a regular basis, you're not pushing yourself. ❤
Hello my fellow female drooler🤤 of tools.😂 I love the new tool! And the build is beautiful! You could have easily turned the ottoman into a storage piece too!😃 A piano hinge and/or hydraulic arms and putting a bottom on there , that would be cool too. Love the coffee table! 🥰😘
Fantastic job Danie!! The only thing I would have done differently is routing out a channel for the L-brackets so you don't risk them ever catching on the ottoman😁
Danie! You, once again, outdid yourself! It is gorgeous. The waterfall, the finish, the ottoman (chenille might be the type of fabric), the color choices "Chef's kiss" P.S. To avoid stress on the table part, I would suggest hidden tiny casters....maybe!?
we called ours the conversation table because my parents don't drink coffee, and my mom felt like it was weird to call it that. 😅 It was always used as a footrest though.
Danie, how could you not make something that sparkles?!♥️ “Love your magic sparkles!” I love the hat on you. I love the coffee table/ ottoman combo! What a creative design.
I was literally thinking about building the same coffee table yesterday! I’m good at woodworking but sucks at sewing, and the thought of sewing box corners with thick upholstery fabric scares me. So thank you for this!!! 💛
Your ottoman/coffee table is absolutely gorgeous, the soft look of the ottoman versus that live edge table whith the beautiful continuing woodgrain is sooooooo stunning!!!😍😍😍
My grandparents neighbors had catalpa trees along the fence line. Very cool trees. My grandparents had that immaculate yard aesthetic so the leaves , bean pods and branches had to be picked up as part of our chores. Great shade trees,
You “think” the waterfall edge looks great? You silly goose it looks phenomenal!!!!! You HAVE to quit saying you’re not a professional woodworker! Your pieces are freakin’ awesome! Thanks for sharing your work and your fun fun personality!
I know Geoff isn’t much for being on camera all the time but if it’s something he would be willing to do I would love to see his reactions to the pieces you create. I’m sure he loves them and is proud of all the things you’re able to do but would just be fun to see what he thinks.
Danie, I’m a long time follower and die hard fan, I look forward to seeing your videos every Saturday morning. I sit down with my coffee and watch you and Gator and I call it my Saturday morning cartoons lol. I love this build, it’s GORGEOUS. I wanted to make a suggestion though, consider some low profile wheels or casters for smooth rolling, like the barrel shaped kind that don’t swivel and only roll back and forth. Long term, it should cut down on the wear and tear of your beautiful rug too. They inset into the bottom edge and you can barely even them so it wouldn’t disrupt the aesthetic or take anything away from the beauty you’ve created.
This is my favorite DIY ever. I love the green, the waterfall and liveedge is gorgeous. I would have loved to see Jeffs reaction to the finished project in the space. You are a artist my lady. ❤ Shout out to Momma for the tools!!
I love how this table came out! I lwill be using the upholstery tip to hide the seam.❤Your jokes are similar to mine, I think we'd get along in real life!😂
I think that's the most beautiful piece you've ever made - the waterfall was seemless and you can see the gorgeous warm colour of the wood. I'd pay for that piece! x
I’m generally not a fan of waterfall edges because they are overused, often in impractical ways (like in a kitchen island where toe kicks are better suited), but this is the perfect place for a waterfall. And you executed it perfectly. Beautiful work!
lol your eyes literally LIT UP ~ showing us all your new toy....I am sure you will get every ounce of use out of it !! Mom's are the best 🥰 And your new 'all beverage' footstool/table is perfect in your space. Damn gurl!!!
I LOVE THIS BUILD SO MUCH! This is the perfect coffee table. I have an ottoman that I got to use as a coffee table and it just isn’t great for anything but feet. I will say that for slightly more complexity, you could have added storage space for blankets etc in the ottoman!
Just watched drunk shopping - can't tell you how many times I have ordered stuff and when it came was surprised and wondered what it was.... lol. Your rug is great. I needed to laugh! Love your channel and all of your creativeness! TY.
Danie, got to be one of your best or the best you've ever made. It wouldn't look out of place in some high end (high price) store. It's A-MAY-ZING!!! And I LOVE your excitement over the plunge saw.
I love what you did, Danie. It looks amazing!! If I could make one suggestion though - consider recessing those L-brackets and covering the recess slots to save the fabric of the ottoman from an inadvertant snag.
Dear Danny, all your projects are wonderful and this one is no exception❤ and I would like to leave here a small word of appreciation to your personality. You're shiny and funny. Just want you to know that you are the reason to be happy today for many people in the whole world. Your videos always make my day❤❤❤❤ Stay positive, stay creative and keep on diying🎉
The room looks beautiful! I'm so happy you talk to your furniture. I do too. Especially when I am change its environment. I don't want it to feel bad. And my two adult sons do it too! And one is a tough Marine and the other is tough builder😊 and I'm 74.
It is beautiful! Icringe a little when you have to cut off so much fabric, etc. If you do one side, then pull to the other side or end staple and cut it off with a possible big piece of fabric for other DIY items. It does look great! I'm surprised you did not make it with storage underneath the top. Even if you do not need it now it could be a positive opportunity later. Plus, by not making it long enough for two people to have their feet up while using the table.
You outdo yourself all the time everyone is going to copy you,me I love it want one now,and keep up the good work be proud, you are truly a professional LOVE IT🥰👌👍
I'd prob shrivel up n implode if I didn't have u to watch on the weekends. U are appreciated for ur creativity and talents, thank u😍 big fan. Hi Kanobi! xojodia, 50+ NorthEast coast 🇺🇸 💌🇨🇦
Today, I learned that what I have called the Catawba tree all my life is called a Catalba tree. I thought because Catawba worms aoften eat the leaves and that there is a Catawba Native American reservation near where I live in SC, that it was a Catawba tree. (Catawba worms are great for fishing so we had one in our back yard so my brother could fish when he wanted.) Learned something new.
It’s beautiful! Unlike you, I would have made it a storage ottoman - we always have blankets or extra cushions/pillows, and it would be nice to have them stored right there. I might think a little differently than most because I’ve lived in houses where space was short, and I learned nothing ever just “sits there”. Everything must have multiple uses if it’s going to take up space in my house.
Out-of-the-park! Danie! Incredible! They are both do beautiful! I have to ottoman, now, the table! Thanks Mom! Ibet now you are thinking of ways to create DIYs just so you can use your new toy!! I bet Graham, from Team AG, will ve a bit jelly once he sees this! Have a blessed day and a fabulous week!! xxoo
Dude, you have totally outdone yourself! What an incredible piece. The green goes so well with the natural edge. It's like a mossy tree! Gorgeous, what an amazing job!
I love that piece! There’s nothing like a woman’s ability to solve combination problems with combination solutions. I really like seeing your thinking process in action!❤
Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!!!!! Dani you did it again you outdid yourself, truly you are talented what a lovely gift you have. Dani's mom love that surprise you gave her. Dani love your excitement ❤❤❤
It might be one of the hottest builds you ever ever done. It is also one of the coolest. You might say (wait for it…) it is a hot/cold combo of build for all your hot/cold combos.
OMG I actually squeaked when I saw the table and ottoman! It's probably one of my most favorite builds of yours. You have come so very far--great to see!
I have to say when you showed it put together all done. I said WOW out loud (which came out a bit to loud) You did a great job. One other thing before you ask me what I want for Christmas this year ...... I’ll take one of those in a blue denim linen kind of color. Welldone Girl you rock.
i'm so amazed every single time by how you delve into new things and challenge yourself and almost always have amazing results ! I love the ottoman you should give more props to yourself because it turned out beautiful, and guess what the way i see it is wow she has one more amazing skill and is able to make something so beautiful..! This whole episode blew my mind honestly, from start to finish; from the plan, to the functional purpose, and the execution and of course the aesthetics !
YOU NAILED IT! I love how perfectly it flows with what you have going in your living room. As usual taking us along as you are planning your build is so helpful. You make it look doable. 😊DDecker
The design looks perfect in your living room. There were a few scary points in the build that you completely smashed! Looks so amazing!!! You give me courage and inspiration! Love 😁
I LOVE THIS! ❤ It’s reminding me of the L-shaped couch / corner table my grandma had from Sears in the 60’s. It was actual two beds, one would slide under the corner table out of the way during the day, with bolster pillows for back support and removable blue corduroy covers you would remove for sleeping.
Looks fantastic, Danie, great job. A tip for upholstery, start in the middle on all 4 sides first, then work your way towards the corners. This helps to ensure even tension all the way around.❤
I am doing this for a couple areas in my home. Hands down this is cool. I can see me wanting the storage option for living room to hold the remotes but I would put inset hidden wheels in the wood against the floor of the waterfall slab to slide easier to the side omg what a freaking awesome idea! Well done. Love the slab you got too that’s killer. I am betting to cut costs (maybe) a person could use plywood or cheaper planks and veneer really awesome grained veneer on it. I like burl or figured like tiger maple or quilted or birds eye maple etc for example. Planks in that would be house down payment money 😂 so veneer would be an incredible option too. Oooh excited so many ideas off this one idea. Thank you!
WOW Danie! Just wow. 😊💛 the waterfall edge is absolutely perfection, imho. I used to have a bunch of live edge walnut that had blue steaks in it. It was stunning, would've been great here. You are awesome. I will be recovering a little stool and an oval table tomorrow! And I WILL start scrounging for supplies for the headboard I have put off making. I still love that inlaid live edge table more. 😂😅
That ottoman looks amazing Danie! I've always wanted to unholster something (weird dream, but it's true). Thanks for showing us that you don't need to be an expert to make something amazing. 🤩
OMG! I love the seam trick! I always think I have to use piping which is enough to deter me from doing any upholstery but this is a game changer! Thank you!
This might be my favorite piece that you've made (and that's saying something). I'm no expert on upholstery but the ottoman looks lovely and professional and I love the color. The beautiful catalpa (I never heard of it either but after reading your description, I think I have one in the backyard!) encasing the ottoman is just perfect. Love the grain, color and the soft curves on some of the edges. The combo is both beautiful and functional! Yay Danie!
Beautiful! Love it, and the waterfall wood is stunning. I have to say the pencil trick for sanding it genius, and satisfying knowing it is all done evenly.
I didn't know what 'waterfall' meant in regards to wood. But I can say that I ❤ the effect! I'm a resin artist and love some glitter in my resin!! A beautiful piece of art there.
I love that you are not afraid to try anything, it’s really inspiring to me to keep myself moving forward too ☺️
thanks for the tip!!!
@@DIYDanie ❤️
In love with this design!
That is such a cool tip - thank you! 🙏
Also trim the fabric that you fold under. Getting rid of excess bulk is what makes it look more professional! 😊
That waterfall edge is *chef’s kiss*. A great concept overall. I love pieces that can be used in a lot of different ways. They always have longer lives and make refreshing our homes so much easier when all you have to do is a little rejig. thank you so much!! xo
All I could think of was missed opportunity storage for sofa blankets. That's a perfect spot to store blankets for the sofa without always having them out. Love the idea so want to steal it.
Ooh, I love the pencil line trick for helping to make sure the entire surface has been sanded. SEAHAG 😂😂😂 Im dying!!!!
Seahag is now officially the next stage of life I hope to achieve. 😍😆❤
I am simply rocking crone! I have a full-length hooded cloak and a walking staff.
And your hat is perfect!
@@RaeC5280 I was born in July, a cancer. So I am a water sign, this makes me an official Seahag.
Its official! We are bringing seahag back into our vocabulary 😂

Awesome! Maybe the wood is a left over from the forest moon of Endor. One of my next projects will be a hot chocolate table to go over my ottoman. ❤
Cancelled! 😆
ETA: Dayyyyummm! This is incredible. It looks very high end. Many congrats 👏🏼
ONLY FURNITURE PIECES! YOU HEAR ME!?!?
Everything must have multiple uses if it’s going to take up space in my house.
totally fair!
In german we call a coffee table a couch table, because it is in front of a sofa/couch. 😉 What a creative idea! Love it.
I love that piece! There’s nothing like a woman’s ability to solve combination problems with combination solutions. I really like seeing your thinking process in action!❤
Oh my. That is gorgeous. I love the waterfall effect of the wood grain.
I couldn’t picture the waterfall at first but then it was done and WOW! That’s so beautiful!!
Dannie,
I think you've found your calling, one of a kind furniture. I love all the pieces you've made so far❣️
I’m literally never not AMAZED with your work. So beautiful
The ottoman/coffee table turned out so, so well. The grain on the wood is just gorgeous. 😚🤎
I'd like a decaffeinated coffee table.
Danie!! This is my favorite DIY........EVER!!!
The wood is beautiful, the green ottoman is stunning.
Great job girl! 💜
I also love the liive edge look. It's like the outdoors refined and brought inside.
I'm ON IT!
@DIYDanie
I will need mine with yellow linen please. And walnut I think.
i'm so amazed every single time by how you delve into new things and challenge yourself and almost always have amazing results !
Another winner! I love live edge tables and the waterfall is so satisfying. Quite peaceful. Thank you for sharing❤
Good morning all ❤ soo excited luv ya my fabulous DIYer Danie❤
Good morning!
Absolutely gorgeous! And now, because you made it look so easy, my niece asked me to make her one!!! Wish me luck.
😊💛
Looks fantastic, Danie, great job. A tip for upholstery, start in the middle on all 4 sides first, then work your way towards the corners. This helps to ensure even tension all the way around.❤
GOOD TIP! will remember that!
Thank you!
The waterfall edge is perfection!!! Love the green ottoman as well and the two together look great!!! Great job as usual. ❤❤❤
the green was lovely, wasn't it? worked out really well!
WOW Danie!
Beautifully done. The wood is stunning. Love the fabric color
Was gonna say, girl looks like she is a part of the Dune cast when sanding haha. Great project. Nice work. Live the green.
Thank you!
I agree! I hate working with piping, but that “fold” Dani used here is an amazing hack!
Sparkle, Danie, sparkle!!!
YAAASSS QUEEEEEN
*standing ovation* 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
