Since you are working with clay…. You could make your own knobs and texture them and glaze them to go with furniture. You wouldn’t need to throw them on the wheel of course! BTW you taking your first class in pottery reminded me of my first class. I ❤loved❤ it so much! The studio allowed us to go in on a Saturday to work on our own. Some days I went in at 10am and closed the door after 3am. My roommate thought I had met a guy and was in love. Half true 😉. @@heatherburrill Exactly 😂 Your idea for Danie to create her own unique pulls is brilliant! Love the cabinet! You took your time and the level of your expertise is completely unfolding! Good job! However, I’m not a fan of the knobs with this particular piece… but you will find something that you love to replace the in due time! Btw, I love the rug 🤩
The console table came out BEAUTIFUL. I think an antique gold knob would look great on it...would pick up the other antique gold accents in the room and look great against the black. 🥰
Danie - how do you stay cheerful throughout? I always end up swearing and crying. There’s always a point where i hit rock bottom - I regret starting, I don’t think I’ll ever make it work, and I just generally hate everything. Then, I work through it and finish and I feel good again.

You say it’s modern and chunky and not for everyone honey it’s absolutely gorgeous. Way to go, girl😍❣️🥰❣️❤️❤️❤️❣️
I’m glad I’m not the only one who can get so excited about projects that I forget what order everything needs to happen in 😂 Love the idea of doing an ordered list at the top of the day
It's beautiful, Danie! I like the shell drawer pulls, but I don't think they are quite right fir the piece. I'd try a slightly larger pull with woven leather to bring the warmth of your leather furniture over to that side of the room. In any case, a work of art!!
I love the light colored knobs accented with gold! I think your new console table looks very high-end, and a wicker knob or wooden knob is too casual for this stunning piece. I think the knobs also tie-in with the light colors of your new rug. Great job!😍
For the rare times when you need a larger planer or a jointer you can probably find a shop that rents time/access. I found out about them from Cam from Blacktail Studios- he created a website to track locations. There's probably woodworking guilds in your area too. Makes a lot of sense for occasional woodworkers vs buying.
I’m so excited for you! Pottery on the electric wheel is wonderful. I started 7 years ago out of a bad depression. I wouldn’t leave the house anymore and just moped around. Then I made the decision, found a course, and I haven’t looked back since. It’s such a joy to create something out of a lump of clay, shape it and watch it transform into something unique. Granted, my husband has now more Cornflakes bowls than he could ever need, but he enjoys choosing one that matches his mood of the day. I hope you’ll find a new passion.
That outgoing console table should be shipped straight away to Mr Kate for her patio. Perfect fit for her current aesthetic and storm proof for outdoor serving.❤
The knobs definitely work; it’s a beautiful piece and I’d be proud to have this in my home. It looks like a very expensive piece of furniture; well done Danie!!
I don’t understand why a large tool company doesn’t sponsor you and give you ALL the tools you will ever need! If I was working for a tool company I would so think that was a great idea!!!
I am not a fan of the knobs. Perhaps something darker just not so white. This is a fantastic piece. What an amazing job. You are the ninja of DIY. I know I say it every week but you are so cute. Cutest and best DIYer ever. Amazing workmanship!
You did an incredible job! Very impressive! For me, I would have opted for a notch in the wood under the drawer instead of pulls. Watching you create this was very inspiring! Well done Danie 🤩
I have ADHD hyperfixations, and I've got to say, Dani has been one of mine for many years now...And that rarely happens! She's a bloody marvel, and has always kept my attention, she's a goddess.
I got an Albany park couch in their green velvet and it’s amazing! All the covers are removable and stain resistant. It’s also modular so you can have a bunch of different configurations and should a major tear happen you only need to replace one section. It’s like lounging on a cloud ☁️ it’s boyfriend and pittie approved 😊
Wow! Did not expect it to look that good! Not my house but I think it looks absolutely terrific in your living room. It really pulls together the floating shelves. Love the wood and black(?) chair on the left. I think the brown leather keeps it all from fading into the background. But again, not my house just my opinion. Excellent job. Every project just brings you to another level. Don't stop at level 99 though. The sky is the limit...no, there is no limit! 😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤❤❤❤
I would have preferred finger pull cut outs in keeping with the MCM look.. I think the knobs take away from the beauty of the wood. Just a suggestion. Beautiful piece.
The fact you are even recording everything and explaining to the camera as you work is outstanding . Loving the edits this week (Arnold "No Problemo" lol) and the music choices got excited and jamming out as watched video 😂👏🫶 thanks for sharing the process, keep up the punns! 😂❤🎉 P.s. love reading the comments such a positive DIY Community ❤❤❤
If (when) you get tired of this, you could probably sell it to one of us for enough to fund you for a year! This is a gorgeous piece of furniture. I wasn't sure about the dark stain, but it looks really really good. (And I vote for changing the knobs to ones a little sleeker that would also draw less attention away from the console itself).
Maybe instead the knobs you may try something similar to the Sorry Girls did in Becky’s vanity - it is lovely. But anyway - you rock girl - this piece is a master piece! 🔥😍
Yes! Although rather than having a frame that goes all around the drawer as Rochelle did for Becky, maybe just a strip of wood at the top that has a groove in the bottom to hook with your fingers. (Rochelle was making an Ikea piece look much better. Danie's console is already beautiful so doesn't need as much)
Danie I love ❤️ how the console table turned out. I would have put a wavy brass handle on the drawers to give a nod to the last console table. Great job I also agree with Geoffrey about match the heights of the legs and shelf to make it cohesive.
Wow, that piece is totally pro. Kudos to you. Yes it’s modern but all that matters is YOU (and Jeffrey -sp?) like it. Maple also looks great with a paint wash to cool it, and then a linseed oil and wax finish. White wax adds the final pale touch.
Daniel, that piece is absolutely beautiful. I would buy it for my home in a heartbeat. It actually reminds me of several pieces we bought from a Canadian company many years ago. This was another home run❣️
What a stunning piece! I absolutely love the knobs, I can't think of anything else that would make that piece pop the way these do. Oh my goodness, that stain! When I saw you could see the grain with the deep color I was in love. Congratulations!
Danie, you need a biscuit joiner if you're going to keep gluing boards together! It makes a much stronger joint, and helps keep the boards aligned during gluing.
Love this piece, I'd make wood handles, stained to match the piece so they blend in. I have to laugh about all the videos I watch where people switch their rugs out quite often, I get one rug and then have it for the next 30 years lol
It snowed today. I am glad to see extra snow before dry summer days. Our main moisture is always winter. Still... I loved what seemed like a week of spring.
I ask my husband to keep the sawdust he creates making stuff. I use it around the raised beds for pathway/walkways. I also want to get into pottery. Boy the prices for the classes have gone up! Love the table and the chunkiness of it. I was surprised that I also like how dark it turned out.
This video has saved my life. Cheap drawer pull info, and the tip to make the sides first has helped me get over a mental blank for putting 11 drawers into 2 storage cabinets. Phew! No excuse now😅😅😂 Also fabulous result! I love your living room look. Knobs are gorgeous and they add Danie flair, and they also stand out a bit. Wicker or walnut might meld if that’s what you’re thinking🤩🤩🥳🤩🤩. You did good❤
This is going to be so beautiful! You could Pocket hole , dowel, or biscuit joint the boards together and get yourself a dove tail jig for your router for your drawers.
A masterpiece! You outdid yourself! Love the sides-first drawer hack. Regarding the knobs, maybe leather knobs or pulls to tie in with the leather of the chair/couch
I was thinking something similar, like recycle an old soft leather belt the color of couch in a simple loop and attach near top middle of drawer if possible or where current knobs are now. Attach from under so leather falls over. Cabinet is gorgeous !!!
I LOVE this piece! I think if you really want knobs, they need to be slimmer and more linear pulls. Or you could still do a knob, but keep the lines similar. The piece is very linear and clean, sophisticated. It needs matching hardware. Buy I'm also very much an advocate of no hardware at all. It a standalone piece that needs no jewelry 😊❤
It looks amazing! One thing I have found that makes drawers easier is undermount drawer slides. Yes they are expensive, but, my gosh, they are worth it. I, too, have had such a struggle with drawers and drawer slides.
Oh wow!! Love it!!! I feel like a wooden or wicker knob would look really nice and would pull the room into it. If you do change out the knobs please show us the new look!!! And a Kenobi sighting, yay!!!! 😍❤️
The console table looks amazing! 100% would buy this (and pay top dollar for it) if I saw it for sale. And I think the knobs you currently have work so well against the stain you chose 🔥🔥🔥
What's not to love?! I do like the knobs, they do stand out but look so good with how you styled around them, the only other option I can think that might be better is maybe a leather knob, either black to disappear or the cognac of the other furniture...so hard to tell unless you sample it, so many options! Truly though, as is, it's a gorgeous piece and I stand amazed at what you do!!!
I love the piece, you did a wonderful job! I am not a fan of the knobs. It looks like big buttons. I think an antique brass or matte gold knob will let the wonderful structure of the piece standout. The white knobs distract. You are so very talented and still my favorite content creator!
Danie-I would love a video on how you became so good at woodworking. Did you go to school? Are you self taught? Who or what inspired you to start building and diying?
Every time you say “editor, roll the tape!” I think of the those bushes baked beans commercials from the 2000s. “Roll that beautiful bean footage!” 🫘 🎥
It is always crazy to see how much work goes into such a seemingly simple looking piece! It turned out great, I'm just not a fan of the knobs. I think an elongated handle would fit the piece much better than the knobs that are on it now, but that's just my taste :) Thank you for taking us along with you and have a nice weekend! :)
i think it would look SO good if you just made, like, a 1 x 0.5 in piece of wood stained like the rest that goes all the way along the top of the drawers, or even if you just brought the drawer fronts up about a quarter of an inch, so that they look the same height all the way across, but you have a small lip to pull, but it wouldn't greatly impede on the visuals or space for the books. i think the simplicity of the original piece without stand-out handles was what really made it so special, along with the lines of it. But otherwise, it reminds me so much of prairie-style houses (a la Frank Lloyd Wright) that are very horizontal, and I would continue with something horizontal, to not break up the lines. It's so beautiful, though!! 💜
It turned out so goooood Danie!!! That stain/oil combo takes it up a notch for sure! Not a fan of the hardware, really liked your idea of not having any. At the end of the day tho it's what you love and what makes your house a home!
Throwing pots is a lot harder than most think. If the clay is not perfectly centered on the wheel, it’s not going to end well at all. I took private lessons with a professional pottery artist. She taught me so much! Danie, Enjoy throwing pots with your hubby!
Love the table! I have to agree that the knobs just don’t serve it. Maybe wooden pulls stained to match, or leather pulls that would be a nod to the couch.
Girl, you are TALENTED! My mom loved decorating, and we DIYed a lot, too. Our house was always evolving, even if it was just moving the furniture around. I love your vibe. Keep up the good work.😄❤️❤️
This is PERFECT, and that’s not a word I use! You did a beautiful job and it definitely shows! The knobs totally work, can’t think of a single thing I’d change!
So gorgeous! I love the single piece across the front and you've conquered the drawers with this project! 🙆♀️ Tho, I think a matte black drawer pull would blend in and look so much better, as the white looks so out of place to my eye.
This is probably my top favorite of all the items you have created. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL... YOU ARE TOO AMAZING❤❤ BTW...You have some of the coolest meme inserts, (I guess that's what you would call them🤔😜🥰)
OMG!!!! Gorgeous! I had a maple bedroom suite finished just like this and I had forgotten how much I loved it. I love your drawer work around it makes sense to me and boy, did it work! You have taken your work to the next level!! You go girl!!!!❤❤
For the knobs, you could stick with the overall theme of the piece and make your own wood ones. I don't know how to best explain this but you could start with a cube, then cut your sides in so that the bigger square is at the front and it tapers to a smaller square in the back so that you can grasp it to pull open the drawers. If stained the same as the rest of the piece then it would all flow together and let the overall architecture of the piece shine instead of having knobs that kind of pull attention away from the architecture of it. Overall, great work in this! If there is decent structural integrity to the old piece, it could maybe serve as a small bench in a room somewhere?
I vote for chunky antique bronze knobs, something quirky, maybe a dragon. Beautiful cabinet!
I was thinking this too!

Too much contrast, it looks like glowing eyes in total darkness. I'll bet it looks Great in person but video...
Agree! It needs no embellishments. No knobs or pulls, unless they are leather(?)
yes -- either the finger grooves she originally discussed or maybe very simple wood handles (not knobs) stained to match the console
Agree on that one, it doesnt need hardware, just a groove in the wood at the top to open. But this is a stunning build and design 🤩

It looks amazing! One thing I have found that makes drawers easier is undermount drawer slides. Yes they are expensive, but, my gosh, they are worth it. I, too, have had such a struggle with drawers and drawer slides.
I really like how the final piece looks. This knobs look really good in contrast with dark brown
Oh wow!! Love it!!! I feel like a wooden or wicker knob would look really nice and would pull the room into it. If you do change out the knobs please show us the new look!!! And a Kenobi sighting, yay!!!! 😍❤️
Of course I will!
It is BE-UTIFUL!! As always!!
Maybe black knobs to fade into the piece! Great job though!
You out did yourself here. I just wish you left it without knobs and did a puush open. These knobs are beautiful or maybe an antique gold.
I actually think copper knobs or drawer pulls would look so good!
The Sorry Girls did a wood frame and handle to an IKEA cabinet in Becky's bathroom redo. Check that out. They turned out perfect for the look.
i think it would look SO good if you just made, like, a 1 x 0.5 in piece of wood stained like the rest that goes all the way along the top of the drawers, or even if you just brought the drawer fronts up about a quarter of an inch, so that they look the same height all the way across, but you have a small lip to pull, but it wouldn't greatly impede on the visuals or space for the books. i think the simplicity of the original piece without stand-out handles was what really made it so special, along with the lines of it. But otherwise, it reminds me so much of prairie-style houses (a la Frank Lloyd Wright) that are very horizontal, and I would continue with something horizontal, to not break up the lines. It's so beautiful, though!! 💜
Also, keep that sawdust!! Lol it'll be great for future maple projects if you need a wood filler! just mix it with stain-able wood glue.
It turned out so goooood Danie!!! That stain/oil combo takes it up a notch for sure! Not a fan of the hardware, really liked your idea of not having any. At the end of the day tho it's what you love and what makes your house a home!
Beautiful 😍 I would go for a leather band thats matching the Color of your leather chair instead of a doorknob 😍 it would Blend in sooo nicely
This piece is stunning. It's what was always meant for this room. Job well done, Danie. I wish I had your skill.... and tools. LOL
Those knobs are beautiful, but I'd say an interesting brass knob would look great
Throwing pots is a lot harder than most think. If the clay is not perfectly centered on the wheel, it’s not going to end well at all. I took private lessons with a professional pottery artist. She taught me so much! Danie, Enjoy throwing pots with your hubby!
Girl - this is GORGEOUS!! Fits in your space so well and that room is beautiful and cozy. Chef’s kiss all around!!
Love the table!
I have to agree that the knobs just don’t serve it. Maybe wooden pulls stained to match, or leather pulls that would be a nod to the couch.
@ 7:58 your Dutchie roots are definitely showing!! You're making the stamppot dike, where we put the gravy!!!
YOU ARE TOO AMAZING❤❤ BTW...You have some of the coolest meme inserts, (I guess that's what you would call them🤔😜🥰)
I actually like the knobs you put on. The whole unit looks fantastic, well done Danie.
Gorgeous! And I like those pulls, but I think rattan/wicker would also look totally beautiful! ❤
OMG!!!! Gorgeous! I had a maple bedroom suite finished just like this and I had forgotten how much I loved it. I love your drawer work around it makes sense to me and boy, did it work! You have taken your work to the next level!! You go girl!!!!❤❤
Love the new couch. Not to throw any shade on the much loved Article number, but this certainly looks a lot smarter. I think the color is lovely.
Wowowow she's a beaut!! Love the extra shelf for books and more on top
Thank You friend!! ❤️❤️🫂
Ummmm WOW!!! This is the piece that space needed. This looks absolutely beautiful!!! Great job Dani.
Dani you have out done yourself! I love this console! It’s gorgeous. I don’t mind the handles, they add a nice contrast!😊🇨🇦
