The Swamp Jon! 9.5ft Wood Boat Build Part 2of2

Beau finishes the Swamp Jon. The total cost of this built was about $400 with plenty of scrap wood. The build took about two months. This two part series shows the entire build with measurements included. I built this boat to serve like a fishing kayak. I wanted something that I could put in the back of my truck without too much fuss. It serves the purpose pretty well. The build came out heavier than I expected. Using the 3/4 inch material on the floor added quite a bit of weight. I originally bought a piece of 1/2 inch Sandyply for the floor that would have saved a good bit of weight. That being said, I would have made the boat a little wider and may not have saved much weight due to different design decisions. I look forward to using the boat this summer and Thomas and I will make some videos showing the boat in action. Thomas fished out of it this weekend and really loves it.

NIce Boat build , have had a boat design in my head for yrs. hope to start on my own soon, if you add chine runners on the bottom it will help with the stability

Great build. That foam is really expensive here in Oz so I just jam empty plastic soft drink bottles in the floatation chambers.
