This isn't accurate. Yes he was brought in on the pretense he was doing background characters to be surprised by the news he'd been last as Vincent, which is a nice story. No, he didn't record Vincent's lines that day.
I like to think Roche knew degradation was coming, and decided to go all in to get one final good fight on his own terms before he was no longer able to even come close to fighting cloud. Probably accepted the test subject status pretending he was gonna be a loyal shinra goon and follow orders only to instantly disobey and go find cloud for that final fight. His final fantasy.

So Matthew Mercer had no idea he was playing Vincent until he came in to record. He thought he was there for background characters. His reaction to learning who he was ACTUALLY playing went something like this: “No fuck- Are you fucking serious?! Ha haha ha! Oh man, I’m not going to lie, that means a lot to me” He said it broke him in a beautiful way and it would be a memory he’d carry with him for a very long time
Nico about Cid I need you to remember, when you meet cid in the original game, it's on a very bad day for him. After that introduction he acts a bit kinder to y'all, even if he falls asleep too often lol. And he still yells at us if he's upset. Cid is someone who can act jolly if he's in a good mood, he's more of a over emotive person which can show here, like when he laughs at Yuffie when she's on the floor. At worse he's a bit apathetic to things, which I'd say is still true here since he hasn't had his full arc. I guess you can say swears less, as he and Barret were the big swearers in the original game. But even Barret's swears less here. Consider the scenarios of the tiny bronco going down. In the original game is was forcibly gonna be stolen from him, got shot down, and forced to never fly again. So of course he'd be a very upset about it. But here it was something that happened under his control, and he was able to adapt with a hearty chuckle. That's still in character with the cid we know. Considering how cid acts consistently outside of [Redacted] Town, through AC, Dirge, KH ans here, I think you need to think you need not let [Redacted Town] color your entire impression of Cid as a character lol P.S. womanizer doesn't mean how you used it lol
There is also the fact that Cid in the OG might not be the "proper" Cid. Have to remember that there was a lot of localization quirks that got through that didn't translate well from Japanese to English. Similarly to how Red XIII's transition to Nanaki in Japanese is also more pronounced (because of how you say "I" in Japanese is in so many ways - Red XIII uses a more formal version, while Nanaki uses a childish, country bumpkin version). Little differences in translations and localizations can make a huge difference.

I do appreciate the joke, and the Machinabridged reference, but for anyone wondering what the canon answer is - there was some NPC dialog in Nibelheim when we first arrived, that Shinra produces and distributes these black robes TO these guys, presumably HERE. Still doesn't answer where Roche's came from, but at least the robes have more of an explanation now than in OG.

The fact that Vincent doesn't know that his terminal is on/off tells me a few things. 1. He's used to old tech (which isn't surprising) 2. Shinra visits OFTEN and gives him new tech, even though he has no idea how it works 3. He gets regular shipments of potions and books (why else is there a bench and vending machine there?) Does that mean he's more aware of the situation than we realize...?
I always wondered why there's a vending machine in there. And I can imagine Vincent's grumbling whenever they add 'New Tech' in his place where he just barely figured out how to operate this doohickey thing he's holding in his hand right now.
So, about the cat having 1 hp…this means that even though you completed the side quest, you only got the minimum boost of affection with Tifa, since this was her side quest. When post game chapter select unlocks, you can also reset the quests if you want to do them again. The game always remembers the best outcomes you’ve managed to get, so you can redo this quest to keep the cat’s hp high and get the best outcome without nuking the other quests you already did well on.
if he finishes the game without seeing it during the date, he can select chapter 12 with the date of his choice and how close the relationship should be in the menu without needing to replay the side quest.
@nicob Fun fact: Matt didn’t know he was going to voice Vincent. The producers played a prank on him by asking him to come in and voice some NPC’s. In the middle of the session, the screen went black with the words: ‘What if you came to voice a different character’ with a picture of Vincent been shown. He was really happy and surprised.

I think the gray silver hair was due to Jenova. I personally feel he went mad not because he was an experiment or him mom is an alien. But that he was the son of the walking grease ball Hojo.
So fun fact, Mercer has now Voiced Three of his favourite characters, He Voices Vincent in FFVII Rebirth, He Voiced Ganondorf in ToTK and for those who are fans of DnD, he is voicing Vecna "The Lich" for Dead by Daylight, and he voiced all three of these in relatively close succession

@@BlaxeFrost-X Yeah in kingdom hearts 1 the original idea was to meet and fight both Cloud and Vincent at the Olympus colosseum. But they had to cut one of the characters so they decided to keep Cloud because he was the protagonist of their most successful game. But Nomura decided to give Cloud some of Vincent’s outfit design as a way to reference him.
Nico, about your early comment about the game being wonky about sending your characters into midair... for Cloud, you have to dodge then hold the Attack button (not mash it, that's the blade beams) and he'll charge at the enemy in the air. Tifa's synergy abilities launch her into the air. Aerith has no business there, Barret doesn't either, Yuffie can just throw her shuriken but otherwise she auto-dashes to enemies in midair iirc, and Cait, if you dodge then attack then he'll throw out ranged attacks just like Cloud. I think his hold button attack also hits enemies in midair.
I love Vincent and Caith Sith's few little interactions. They were my main team in my most recent replay of OG and I can't wait to reunite them in part 3.
There's another reason why Vincent attack us. Cloud musta step one of his dear spider friends at the secret room, which is something HOJO (demonic voice) would do as well.
I like how Vincent’s coffin has a Cerberus Motif with a chain tail. Like in Dirge of Cerberus where his gun, Cerberus, has a chain you can equip materia on.

I cannot and will not ever get over how awesome it was getting on that tiny bronco and getting the whole party finally together. All nine of these people. Each with their own desires, hopes, dreams… shadows. All connected by their desire to see tomorrow come. Cloud, the fragmented and confused man, trying so desperately to find himself. An empty… well as Sephiroth would say. Not Yet. Tifa, a kindhearted and loving woman who just wants to keep the tiny part of her old life with her. Even if it means lying to him. Barret, an idealist father who wants to create a better world for himself and his daughter, even if that means causing damage to the people of today. Aerith, the last Cetra. A young spunky and weird girl who loves life and wants to so desperately help her friends, especially Cloud. Nanaki, guardian of the vale. Son of Seto. A true watcher of the planet itself. A young boy trying to become like his father after finally realizing he was wrong about him. Cait Sith, a Shinra “paper pusher” who cares about people’s lives more than anyone in Shinra. A voice stomped out by the loud voices that only care for their own self interest. Yuffie, Wutai’s white rose. The youngest, and definitely most idealistic of the group. A girl who wants to restore her homeland by any means necessary. Cid, the man who just wants to be free. To know that he isn’t bogged down by anything. Not Shinra. Not gravity. To hell with things like that. And Vincent. The man with such a deep and intrinsic connection to Sephiroth. The man who wants to right the sins of the past. Finally he awakens from his slumber. Finally convinced to do something. Chaos Incarnate. These are the greatest batch of characters I have ever seen. Not all good, definitely not all heroes. But all connected. All with a single desire. To put an end to Sephiroth, and save the planet.
Nico, it’s probably best you do the quests and protorelics before you head to the Gold Saucer. Also, you need to talk to the piano guy again as you missed something.
If you want to do all the side quests before the end of the game, I would suggest doing everything you possibly can for now. Some things will get locked out until nearly the end of the game if you wait too much longer, and then the pacing will feel weird to jump away. Personally, I'd love to see the next few episodes be nothing but side content, because some of the best side stuff is still left.

Hey NIco, heres a quick tip on fighting as Cait Sith! When you are on the moogles back, you should let go of the left stick and let the moogle attack on his own. The moogle does a lot of damage on his own and it also builds up his triangle move much faster. Hope this helps, loving the LP so far!
I absolutely love Matt Mercer as Vincent. But-I am just crazy-or did he really speak german for a second there at 14:42? It sounds to me like he said: "Fass' ja nichts an!"-german for "don't you dare and touch anything!". It's difficult to understand because of his whole coffin thing going on, but he definitely didn't say anything about a terminal, contrary to the subtitle. So, Vincent very old, very well traveled, multilingual vampire confirmed? 🤔
Nico playing against Dale around 55 minutes, that's some WILD THEMES in there - he's toying with you? Keeps snatching victory away at the last second? Just keeps replacing cards when he should be done and out of options? He's a black robe dude - HE'S SEPHIROTH. Those are Sephiroth tactics. Dayum, imagine if Seph just pops in for a single game of QB with his ultimate rival thru this random dude... Canonically, though, I would imagine that Dale is perhaps THE STRONGEST personality, able to SAY THINGS other than words Sephiroth is thinking, means his love of Queen's Blood is keeping him the furthest out of Sephiroth's reach!

Everytime Vincent shows up, I can't resist the urge to dirge. Also, that Roche fight feels like a Kingdom Hearts fight gameplay wise, coz he has the Terranort revenge combo attack.
I wonder how much of the difference with Cid is just the circumstances in which we meet him - in the OG, we barge into his house and find him drunk and pissed off not being able to fly. In Rebirth, not only is he meeting us in a business context (so he has to put on a friendly face) but he still has access to his plane and can still fly, so it might be understandable that his demeanour is totally different. Plus we do see the mask drop a lil bit when he gets stressed (Also, we haven’t seen him interact with [redacted] yet, which was front and centre in his OG introduction, which I’m interested to see if that changes)

This is PURELY Speculation on my part but I wholeheartedly believe the reason Cid is a different character is cause he's "On the Job" when we meet him. Since he's CEO of Bronco Airlines, he's acting more professionally when meeting his clients (aka our party, plus anyone else)
Yes! Best boy is finally here and he is so cool. ^_^ It was so exciting to see his first appearance here and the encounter with Cloud and his group (the interaction with him and Cait Sith was quite funny). I adore Vincent and his great voice actor Matthew Mercer, too. He really fits in this role. ^^ Also a fun fact is that Matthew Mercer is a big FF7-fan and he really wanting to voice as Vincent, but was invited to voice as a random NPC in FF7 Rebirth. That was a prank from the producers/VA studios and he did not know back then that he was chosen to do Vincent´s voice, only when he was ready about recording his character, the scene went black and then he saw that it showed him the real character that he is voicing in FF7 Rebirth "Vincent Valentine". He was so happy about it and I am also happy for him to get his dream role, too. ^^ The side quests are also nice and entertaining (especially the quest with Tifa´s cat "Fluffy" was so cute and sweet). The interactions and conversations between Coud and his group were amazing (and I wish that for the next Kingdom Hearts game, too). To be honest, I like this Cid a lot better than the Cid in the original game, but I do not mind if he acted a bit like his original character later (in part 3) and maybe he really will be a bit different in the next FF7 game after some events. There are so many possibilities open for the 3rd part of the new FF7 Remake/Rebirth game and I am curious about all the surprises in there, too. ;-)
I never noticed it in my playthrough but at 40:33 Cloud says "I'm sorry about this" when using Braver. I love how they add different voice lines depending on the context of the fight. Square really didn't need to but I think it shows that they care, I say as if they haven't been showing us that the entire game.
Acknowledge the fact that Cloud has more personality after slowly regaining his memories instead of this "keeping it serious attitude", sooner or later we might see Cloud smiling, being happy and still kicking ass at the same time.
It’s wild to think how much Tifas dad DID NOT like Cloud 😭😭 For whatever reason he just would not let Tifa hang around him especially after the Mt. Nibel incident. It’s so bad even Tifa said “Sorry to bring him up.”
And now the game TRULY begins! So many things to do! ...but before that I wanna take a second to defend my boy Cid. A LOT of people do not have fond memories of him in OG, mostly because of how he treats Shera, his assistant, in your intital interactions with him. I will say that the way he treated Shera was scummy, basically treating her like a maid and belittling her, so I understand if that's a big deal breaker for people because I also wasn't a fan of that initial interaction. However, outside of his treatment of Shera in his introduction...he's literally like he is in Rebirth throughout the rest of OG's story: a sassy old man with a heart of gold. I can't get into too many details because of OG spoilers, but Cid steps up a lot to help the party out in dire times throughout the rest of the game, and even has a moment late in the game where he apologizes to Shera for how he treated her and thanks her for doing the thing he initially was mad at her for as it ends up saving his life. I am very curious how much of the darker side of Cid we will see in the final game, especially for how much of his story has seemed to have changed already (pretty sure he didn't know Ilfalna in OG, and also his whole dynamic with Shinra seems to have been tweaked a lot as he was a full employee when we first meet him in OG). I just wanted to point out to people that what we've seen of Cid in Rebirth is true to his OG character (outside of him no longer smoking which GOD DAMMIT SQUARE LET HIM SMOKE IN PART 3 SO WE CAN SEE THE BEST LIMIT BREAK EVER!)
My theory for why Vincent is not a party member is because plot. Sephiroth is seeing and manipulating cloud. In the original story, Vincent explains Sephiroth origins at this time. One person, that's a spoiler to new fans, which sephiroth never finds out about them.. If he explain there, essentially, Sephiroth would learn this. Thus, they decided to keep him out of the game until later. Imagine Sephiroth learning about that person at this point of the game and how it could change the course of the plot.
The amount of fangirling when I finally found Vincent 😁 My 3yo daughter was like "mama, what's wrong with you?" I almost woke up my husband, who works nights and sleeps like the dead! absolutely CANNOT wait for Part 3!

I agree that Cid is completly different and probably because it would be too much in newer years for new commers. With them saving Rocket Town for next game, maybe we are seeing Cid in his best and save the OG Cid for when he's at his worst.
At this point in the game you pretty much have access to all sidequests in the game, though some aren't unlocked until you beat another quest; one example being Yuffies quest in the Nibel Region. Also I'm pretty sure Red's affinity is currently the highest, and I'm guessing he's not your preference for a first playthrough =| I'd do as many quests as possible if I were you.
I actually think cloud has a way to get into the air? Kind of i guess, if you do his basic range attack (dodge and then attack, the wind slash thing) but hold the attack button while he's doing it he will charge the enemy and enter this aerial mode or something its hard to explain try it yourself. I found flying enemies to be easier when i found this because i dont think the game tells you or maybe im crazy. Just add a jump button square dont make it complicated. (Alternatively you can do that fire lighting attack he has but thats 1 atb,)

I mean HPMP materia is also good to use on a member you're not using currently. You can give them that and a healing materia and have pretty much unlimited healing out of combat.

I like to think Roche knew degradation was coming, and decided to go all in to get one final good fight on his own terms before he was no longer able to even come close to fighting cloud. Probably accepted the test subject status pretending he was gonna be a loyal shinra goon and follow orders only to instantly disobey and go find cloud for that final fight. His final fantasy.

So Matthew Mercer had no idea he was playing Vincent until he came in to record. He thought he was there for background characters. His reaction to learning who he was ACTUALLY playing went something like this:
“No fuck- Are you fucking serious?! Ha haha ha! Oh man, I’m not going to lie, that means a lot to me” He said it broke him in a beautiful way and it would be a memory he’d carry with him for a very long time

Nico about Cid I need you to remember, when you meet cid in the original game, it's on a very bad day for him. After that introduction he acts a bit kinder to y'all, even if he falls asleep too often lol. And he still yells at us if he's upset. Cid is someone who can act jolly if he's in a good mood, he's more of a over emotive person which can show here, like when he laughs at Yuffie when she's on the floor. At worse he's a bit apathetic to things, which I'd say is still true here since he hasn't had his full arc. I guess you can say swears less, as he and Barret were the big swearers in the original game. But even Barret's swears less here.
Consider the scenarios of the tiny bronco going down. In the original game is was forcibly gonna be stolen from him, got shot down, and forced to never fly again. So of course he'd be a very upset about it. But here it was something that happened under his control, and he was able to adapt with a hearty chuckle. That's still in character with the cid we know.
Considering how cid acts consistently outside of [Redacted] Town, through AC, Dirge, KH ans here, I think you need to think you need not let [Redacted Town] color your entire impression of Cid as a character lol

There is also the fact that Cid in the OG might not be the "proper" Cid. Have to remember that there was a lot of localization quirks that got through that didn't translate well from Japanese to English. Similarly to how Red XIII's transition to Nanaki in Japanese is also more pronounced (because of how you say "I" in Japanese is in so many ways - Red XIII uses a more formal version, while Nanaki uses a childish, country bumpkin version).
Little differences in translations and localizations can make a huge difference.
Also, Cid was renowned as being a very nice person to people in the OG, the guys on the highwind all said he was incredibly kind

Still doesn't answer where Roche's came from, but at least the robes have more of an explanation now than in OG.

Which is extremely great advice, due to how in many instances its true. Also, the basement of his house becomes a BDSM dungeon where he gets whipped by Shera who Cid keeps telling to bring him some GOD! DAMN! TEA! Hence why there were comments in the video where Cid first showed up mentioning tea.

The fact that Vincent doesn't know that his terminal is on/off tells me a few things.
1. He's used to old tech (which isn't surprising)
2. Shinra visits OFTEN and gives him new tech, even though he has no idea how it works
3. He gets regular shipments of potions and books (why else is there a bench and vending machine there?)
Does that mean he's more aware of the situation than we realize...?
I always wondered why there's a vending machine in there.

So, about the cat having 1 hp…this means that even though you completed the side quest, you only got the minimum boost of affection with Tifa, since this was her side quest. When post game chapter select unlocks, you can also reset the quests if you want to do them again. The game always remembers the best outcomes you’ve managed to get, so you can redo this quest to keep the cat’s hp high and get the best outcome without nuking the other quests you already did well on.
Nico should definitely see this. I wanna see him get the Tifa date so much.
if he finishes the game without seeing it during the date, he can select chapter 12 with the date of his choice and how close the relationship should be in the menu without needing to replay the side quest.

But they had to cut one of the characters so they decided to keep Cloud because he was the protagonist of their most successful game. But Nomura decided to give Cloud some of Vincent’s outfit design as a way to reference him.
Nico, about your early comment about the game being wonky about sending your characters into midair... for Cloud, you have to dodge then hold the Attack button (not mash it, that's the blade beams) and he'll charge at the enemy in the air. Tifa's synergy abilities launch her into the air. Aerith has no business there, Barret doesn't either, Yuffie can just throw her shuriken but otherwise she auto-dashes to enemies in midair iirc, and Cait, if you dodge then attack then he'll throw out ranged attacks just like Cloud. I think his hold button attack also hits enemies in midair.

I cannot and will not ever get over how awesome it was getting on that tiny bronco and getting the whole party finally together. All nine of these people. Each with their own desires, hopes, dreams… shadows. All connected by their desire to see tomorrow come.
Cloud, the fragmented and confused man, trying so desperately to find himself. An empty… well as Sephiroth would say. Not Yet.
Tifa, a kindhearted and loving woman who just wants to keep the tiny part of her old life with her. Even if it means lying to him.
Barret, an idealist father who wants to create a better world for himself and his daughter, even if that means causing damage to the people of today.
Aerith, the last Cetra. A young spunky and weird girl who loves life and wants to so desperately help her friends, especially Cloud.
Nanaki, guardian of the vale. Son of Seto. A true watcher of the planet itself. A young boy trying to become like his father after finally realizing he was wrong about him.
Cait Sith, a Shinra “paper pusher” who cares about people’s lives more than anyone in Shinra. A voice stomped out by the loud voices that only care for their own self interest.
Yuffie, Wutai’s white rose. The youngest, and definitely most idealistic of the group. A girl who wants to restore her homeland by any means necessary.
Cid, the man who just wants to be free. To know that he isn’t bogged down by anything. Not Shinra. Not gravity. To hell with things like that.
And Vincent. The man with such a deep and intrinsic connection to Sephiroth. The man who wants to right the sins of the past. Finally he awakens from his slumber. Finally convinced to do something. Chaos Incarnate.
These are the greatest batch of characters I have ever seen. Not all good, definitely not all heroes. But all connected. All with a single desire. To put an end to Sephiroth, and save the planet.

Nico, it’s probably best you do the quests and protorelics before you head to the Gold Saucer. Also, you need to talk to the piano guy again as you missed something.
If you want to do all the side quests before the end of the game, I would suggest doing everything you possibly can for now. Some things will get locked out until nearly the end of the game if you wait too much longer, and then the pacing will feel weird to jump away.
Personally, I'd love to see the next few episodes be nothing but side content, because some of the best side stuff is still left.

When you are on the moogles back, you should let go of the left stick and let the moogle attack on his own. The moogle does a lot of damage on his own and it also builds up his triangle move much faster. Hope this helps, loving the LP so far!
I absolutely love Matt Mercer as Vincent. But-I am just crazy-or did he really speak german for a second there at 14:42? It sounds to me like he said: "Fass' ja nichts an!"-german for "don't you dare and touch anything!". It's difficult to understand because of his whole coffin thing going on, but he definitely didn't say anything about a terminal, contrary to the subtitle. So, Vincent very old, very well traveled, multilingual vampire confirmed? 🤔

Also, that Roche fight feels like a Kingdom Hearts fight gameplay wise, coz he has the Terranort revenge combo attack.
I wonder how much of the difference with Cid is just the circumstances in which we meet him - in the OG, we barge into his house and find him drunk and pissed off not being able to fly. In Rebirth, not only is he meeting us in a business context (so he has to put on a friendly face) but he still has access to his plane and can still fly, so it might be understandable that his demeanour is totally different. Plus we do see the mask drop a lil bit when he gets stressed (Also, we haven’t seen him interact with [redacted] yet, which was front and centre in his OG introduction, which I’m interested to see if that changes)

This is PURELY Speculation on my part but I wholeheartedly believe the reason Cid is a different character is cause he's "On the Job" when we meet him. Since he's CEO of Bronco Airlines, he's acting more professionally when meeting his clients (aka our party, plus anyone else)

Yes! Best boy is finally here and he is so cool. ^_^ It was so exciting to see his first appearance here and the encounter with Cloud and his group (the interaction with him and Cait Sith was quite funny).
I adore Vincent and his great voice actor Matthew Mercer, too. He really fits in this role. ^^
Also a fun fact is that Matthew Mercer is a big FF7-fan and he really wanting to voice as Vincent, but was invited to voice as a random NPC in FF7 Rebirth. That was a prank from the producers/VA studios and he did not know back then that he was chosen to do Vincent´s voice, only when he was ready about recording his character, the scene went black and then he saw that it showed him the real character that he is voicing in FF7 Rebirth "Vincent Valentine". He was so happy about it and I am also happy for him to get his dream role, too. ^^
The side quests are also nice and entertaining (especially the quest with Tifa´s cat "Fluffy" was so cute and sweet).
The interactions and conversations between Coud and his group were amazing (and I wish that for the next Kingdom Hearts game, too).
To be honest, I like this Cid a lot better than the Cid in the original game, but I do not mind if he acted a bit like his original character later (in part 3) and maybe he really will be a bit different in the next FF7 game after some events. There are so many possibilities open for the 3rd part of the new FF7 Remake/Rebirth game and I am curious about all the surprises in there, too. ;-)
I never noticed it in my playthrough but at 40:33 Cloud says "I'm sorry about this" when using Braver. I love how they add different voice lines depending on the context of the fight. Square really didn't need to but I think it shows that they care, I say as if they haven't been showing us that the entire game.
Acknowledge the fact that Cloud has more personality after slowly regaining his memories instead of this "keeping it serious attitude", sooner or later we might see Cloud smiling, being happy and still kicking ass at the same time.
It’s wild to think how much Tifas dad DID NOT like Cloud 😭😭 For whatever reason he just would not let Tifa hang around him especially after the Mt. Nibel incident. It’s so bad even Tifa said “Sorry to bring him up.”

And now the game TRULY begins! So many things to do!
...but before that I wanna take a second to defend my boy Cid. A LOT of people do not have fond memories of him in OG, mostly because of how he treats Shera, his assistant, in your intital interactions with him. I will say that the way he treated Shera was scummy, basically treating her like a maid and belittling her, so I understand if that's a big deal breaker for people because I also wasn't a fan of that initial interaction. However, outside of his treatment of Shera in his introduction...he's literally like he is in Rebirth throughout the rest of OG's story: a sassy old man with a heart of gold. I can't get into too many details because of OG spoilers, but Cid steps up a lot to help the party out in dire times throughout the rest of the game, and even has a moment late in the game where he apologizes to Shera for how he treated her and thanks her for doing the thing he initially was mad at her for as it ends up saving his life.
I am very curious how much of the darker side of Cid we will see in the final game, especially for how much of his story has seemed to have changed already (pretty sure he didn't know Ilfalna in OG, and also his whole dynamic with Shinra seems to have been tweaked a lot as he was a full employee when we first meet him in OG). I just wanted to point out to people that what we've seen of Cid in Rebirth is true to his OG character (outside of him no longer smoking which GOD DAMMIT SQUARE LET HIM SMOKE IN PART 3 SO WE CAN SEE THE BEST LIMIT BREAK EVER!)

My theory for why Vincent is not a party member is because plot. Sephiroth is seeing and manipulating cloud. In the original story, Vincent explains Sephiroth origins at this time. One person, that's a spoiler to new fans, which sephiroth never finds out about them.. If he explain there, essentially, Sephiroth would learn this. I agree that Cid is completly different and probably because it would be too much in newer years for new commers. With them saving Rocket Town for next game, maybe we are seeing Cid in his best and save the OG Cid for when he's at his worst.
At this point in the game you pretty much have access to all sidequests in the game, though some aren't unlocked until you beat another quest; one example being Yuffies quest in the Nibel Region. Also I'm pretty sure Red's affinity is currently the highest, and I'm guessing he's not your preference for a first playthrough =| I'd do as many quests as possible if I were you.
Oh, that entire Fluffy quest with Cloud and Tifa was fantastic
I actually think cloud has a way to get into the air? Kind of i guess, if you do his basic range attack (dodge and then attack, the wind slash thing) but hold the attack button while he's doing it he will charge the enemy and enter this aerial mode or something its hard to explain try it yourself. I found flying enemies to be easier when i found this because i dont think the game tells you or maybe im crazy. Just add a jump button square dont make it complicated. (Alternatively you can do that fire lighting attack he has but thats 1 atb,)
