Fellow San Diegan here. Since this video is 3 years old, can you tell me how Hampstead has grown since you did this? My family and I are considering moving there and it seems like there has been a lot of new neighborhoods pop up. Wondering if there are a lot of young families moving in?
Hey Todd, Hampstead has grown a lot in the past 3 years. There is a bypass that will connect the north east end of Wilmington to Hampstead first phase scheduled to be completed 2024 second phase 2030. The extension of municipal sewer lines to some of the areas of Hampstead has also spurred business owners to start plans for additional commercial and shopping. On a side note me and my family now live in Hampstead and kids attend the Topsail school district, and I would be happy to discuss in more detail if interested. my email is Jake@MovingWilmington.com
Hi Heidi, Hurricane Florence did a number on some areas of Hampstead but there are many neighborhoods that are at a higher elevation not in flood zones that did not have flooding issues such as Pelican Reef, Washington Acres ect. If you want to send us an email of what you are looking for in a community and price range we would be happy to send you some areas that meet what you are looking for and performed well during Florence flooding. Thanks for watching! jake@wilmingtonnchomes.com
Thanks so much for these videos! We are relocating soon and they are helpful for us.. especially the Hampstead video. Any word on churches and restaurant scene in Hampstead? Seems spotty if there is only 4,000 people there.. Probably renting for a year but then may need to call y’all :)
There are some pretty good restaurants in Hampstead also Porterneck (northern Wilmington) is just about 20 min south of Hampstead which has a lot of restaurants and shopping. As far as churches we are in the south so never far from a community church! Let us know if you need some advice regarding communities, even if you are renting we would be happy to point you in the right direction.
We can't wait to chat with you! My phone number is 910.216,.4388 email is Jake@WilmingtonNCHomes.com we would love to show you around while you are here in town.
Is the Virginia creek campground area in Hampstead prone to flooding? We just bought a camper there in June and are supposed to move at the end of this month
I am looking to transfer from my job to the location in Hampstead. Not sure where the exact address is rt now but I cant wait to be closer to the water! My son & I are intrested in surfing & being closer for the beach vibes..but we dont want to be too close to be effected by any hurricanes. Also which side is the military base on?..I dnt want to live near a MB
Hi Aimee, Actually Hampstead might be exactly the area you are looking for! It is very close to the Intracoastal waterway and Beaches including Surf City, which has a very good surf break. The Marine Military base Camp Lejeune is to the North of Wilmington and Hampstead about 45 minute drive and does not have much impact on this area. There are a number of water front communities in Hampstead as well that are not in flood zones and have historically not had issues due to a higher elevation not in flood zones such as Pelican Reef, Washington Acres ect. If you want to send us an email of what you are looking for in a community and price range we would be happy to send you some areas that meet what you are looking for and performed well during Florence flooding. William we are being honest with people, and that has not been our experience. My family decided to leave for Hurricane Flo but that has been the only hurricane season that we have decided to do so in 6 years. There are some bad hurricanes that hit the area as is the case with most South east coastal cities. Do you live in Wilmington area in a flood prone spot?
Family has never evacuated and they’ve had very little damage over the years. They fall into a routine of boarding up windows when they have ample warning and making sure they don’t have any other items that might get blown around. It Really has not been difficult for 30 years
its a lovely area and always has been.dont buy homes there as an investment tho, people dont find bigger paying jobsto find and other than a retirement couple buying from somewhere else u will take a cutt on your home.too many from up north have came and kinda messed up the family values and simple life values that the locals had for years.
Thanks for the info Jeremy...im originally from San Diego CA so some of the local pronunciation of specific items is a work in progress, and honestly probably never be 100% !
@@bowhunternc79 I didnt take it like that at all..I would rather some one tell me something in incorrect so I can correct it! Its like walking around with broccoli stuck in your teeth all day an no one telling you !
You need to talk louder or more directly into a microphone. The only place I have to listen is on my UTube on my phone and I can barely hear you even with my phone volume as high as it will go!!!
As a recent transplant from Long Island, Wilmington reminds me of Nassau County and Hampstead is like Eastern Suffolk.

Is there any area of Hampstead that did NOT get flooded during the hurricane?

Check out Renovation Church in Hampstead. Burrito Shak is a good restaurant here.
We will be in contact tomorrow. Hope to meet you the first week of August. We’re coming there from your home town, San Diego.

Is this area “safer” when it comes to flooding is concerned?
Hampstead has low areas and high areas like everywhere. Overall the area sits higher than leland and the brunswick county side.

I love Hampstead
You need to be honest with people and tell them they will probably have to evacuate every hurricane season or every other!

boy you are clueless as far as common sense
Not being rude but it's not Top Sail , it's pronounced Topsul, unless of course, you aren't from the area

@@livinginwilmington2783 no worries, I really wasn't trying to come off rude, even though it may sound like it.
