Imagine being the kid born at a Rolling Stones concert
i wish i was that kid
“Hey mommy where was I born?”
“At a Rolling Stones concert”
I'd hate it, would've said a lot about my mom

The circle of life
It was a quiet day.

I think that John Lennon saying that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus should have been in at least honorable mentions because everyone burned Beatles records and radio stations banned the Beatles. Queen releasing the video for their song I want to break free should have been on here because it got banned by MTV for being offensive because they were dressed in drag.
How much work do you want them to do before putting these lists together? They may go on to discover the hubbub surrounding the censorship of Elis on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Connie Smith who’s ‘Elis’? I think u mean Elvis
I love the Beatles yet that was a terrible moment for them
I Want to Break Free was only banned in the USA because they didn’t understand where I came from (Parody of a British Soap) and Queen are a British band and drag was seen as comedic in the UK.
I’m wondering about Woodstock
"Nipplegate" derailed and permanently damaged Janet's career while Justin's was completely unaffected. Yet he was the one to tear her clothes.
Dont worry, Man of the Woods killed JT's career.

Hannah Shoshana you say that like the two of them didn’t plan on him doing that lol
Hannah Shoshana justin and janet agreed that justin would remove her dress but it turned out that janet didn’t put her bra properly so it exposed her tits

I just realized why i had that U2 album on my phone
Rob_gamer34
Me, too! I thought my husband must have bought it...but he doesn't really like U2. I never even asked 😂😂😂
Rob_gamer34 when i saw the U2 album on my ipad i thought my mother brought it, that’s what i was thinking for many years until like this moment i started to find out
Me too. I knew I didn’t buy it!
I remember hearing the story and then months later wondering what U2 is doing on my iPad. Then I remembered the story.

Lol right
Sinead was right about all the abuse that went on in the church, she deserved better, i'm glad she regrets nothing.
Sinead got martyred and so did the Dixie Chicks whose careers tanked for speaking out against the Iraq War.
yeah like who got offended by her standing up to sexual abuse ? pedophiles ?
@Louis Kirkwood not KGB, but CIA
@@lipecunha5833 Well, at that time, it seems to be that all USA got offended, unbelievable
Im glad sinead did what she did and happy she doesnt regret it
“Were more popular than Jesus now.”
John Lennon
Did you forget about that?
The Sinead 'O' Connor controversy wasn't much of a controversy to me, especially today when we see on the news catholic priest getting arrested and charged for child abuse and sexual assault.
And now there is a big joke about it on South Park and reddit.
And I don't shed a god-damned tear when one of those pedophile priests get killed in prison. Kill em all I say,and let God decide if it's just!🤬
Right, just think of all the ones that have gotten away with it.
You should've included when John Lennon said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, and the world went crazy and started burning Beatles records
I was expecting it to be #1
Yup, was the first thing that came to my mind.
but instead they put stupid kanjo west
Or when the Dixie Chicks dissed George W. Bush. I know he wasn't a good president, but everyone started protesting and publicly wrecking their records with a bulldozer.
the Dixie Chicks thing was downright ridiculous. What she said is mild compared to the vile things people say about Obama

Sinead is actually amazing for having done so. You can see and hear she was nervous about it but went ahead because it was for a major cause. I just wish people didn't blindly believe the church and actually paid attention to what others have to say about it

U2 got way too much hate for it imo. The idea (which wasn't great) was it was supposed to stay in the cloud as a free download if you wanted it. The problem is Apple messed up and pushed it onto devices; the issue wasn't the album, it was Apple not letting you delete it
It’s still on my phone and stuck in my cloud. But good band
Song for Someone and Every Breaking Wave were good. Only reason I kept the album
Did anyone else notice that they labeled Enter Sandman as One at 9:32?

Are we just gonna ignore the fact that nirvana ended a whole decade of hair metal WITH A SINGLE SONG?!
Molly B. One of the worst moments in rock history

@@andrija3511 Nirvana released "Nevermind", which was a game-changing album but, what TikTok is talking about is their first song on the album: "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which ultimately killed off metal and ushered in the Alt/Grunge rock scenes.
TikTok Baddie Pearl Jam, soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Mudhoney, we’re all pushing against the hair metal scene before nirvana
Anonymous Mouse That’s nice but nobody knew about grunge or any of those bands until Nirvana released Nevermind and especially Smells Like Teen Spirit
That’s right, the 1999 Woodstock is where Flea performed naked during the Chili Peppers’ performance

What about Varg Vikernes burning down all those churches and murdering that one guy. But, I guess somebody lip syncing is more "infamous" than that.
ah... but that didn't happen in "America" you see...
Check out watch Mojos top 10 SHOCKING musical scandals, its on that list :)

1. Varg burned down three which is a lot and he did jumpstart the burnings but compared to the 50+ that were burned down is a relatively small number
2. That one guy was euronymous
3. These events weren’t very mainstream and didn’t effect the music industry all that much as a whole though I do think that if they do another one of these they might be on there
Euronymous
I was expecting to see the Norwegian Black Metal mass church burnings somewhere on here

"... While The Tragically Hip were booed for just being Canadian." rofl
That was weird that they stuck that in there!!! LOL
Tragically Hip is trash anyway and this is coming from a Canadian
Pherhaps not a top ten, but I'd give a mention to when the sex pistols chartered a boat, sailed down the river, and disturbed the queens anniversary by playing "God save the queen" (Not a song exactly praising the queen if you listen to the lyrics). They got stopped by the police after a few songs, and their manager got beat up for yelling "fascists" or something if I remember corectly.
A very successful publicity stunt.
RuneBjorg that was pretty fucking hilarious you have to admit
Damn
I just shared a comment syaing the same thing. Some people called for The Sex Pistols to be hanged at Traitors Gate. I daresay that's the most infamous, intense, extreme thing ever. Even the Black Metal Church burnings didn't prompt that kind of reaction.
Damn that is legendary
According to some sources, the Queen was amused by this and contacted Johnny Rotten to do it again during the next Jubilee, but he turned it down because it was about the statement of the act, not the publicity.
How do the Stones make number 1 with Altamont, but the Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen' during the Queens Jubilee, that resulted in their sailing gig down the Thames being stopped n boarded and the band being arrested - with calls for their being tried and hanged at Traitors Gate - doesn't?
I think public discourse veering even near the direction of death penalty for musical performance is rather more infamous, don't you?
i agree.
AHAHAH Hiring the Hell's Angels as security! Should have seen it coming!
this was actually a regional mishap since the Stones' manager thought that the American Hell's Angels were non-violent motorcycle enthusiasts that the British version was. The worse thing was that the manager paid the gang in beer which they were halfway through by the halfway point of the concert.
Remember that baseball game where everyone started burning disco records?
Commonly known as "Disco Demolition Night" at the then Comiskey Park. July 12, 1979. Steve Dahl was fired from his previous disc jockey post because they switched to Disco music, so he joined WLUP "the Loop" and was selected to promote the destruction of disco records in between games of a doubleheader. The rest is alot to try to shorten but basically thousands rushed the field, destroyed it, and it became known as the night disco died. For more info i'll post the wiki page about it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night
Well, that's something.
wish i'd see dat in 2016 as POP DEMOLITION NIGHT
Throw rap/hip hop/edm in there as well
Or simply, the "Disco Sucks" movement.

what's funny is that some in Metallica questioned Axl's excuses that his voice was not working well after he was interviewed on MTV about the riots while smoking a cigarette on a cigarette holder with one hand and the other hand with a glass of wine.

I don't blame Kanye. he was right and Beyonce should be grateful he said that.
Everybody be cool now, come on.

Holy shit, I finally found out where all those U2 songs came from lol
I still think Metallica had every right to pursue legal action against Napster.

When it comes to Woodstock 99, a large contributing factor to the riot, and looting of vendor booths was a lack of water. The entire weekend of the event saw temperatures in the 90's with Sunday afternoon hitting 100 degrees. Now this wouldn't have been a problem initially as there were free water fountains set up at many locations throughout the event. The big problem started when a certain subgroup of attendants, the so called "Mud People" couldn't play in the mud like their parents did during the first Woodstock, due to lack of rain, so they decided to make their own... BY SMASHING THE WATER FOUNTAINS, as well as tipping over a few portable toilets just for good measure. This happened Friday afternoon, and seeing the sudden shortage of clean drinking water, many vendors started price gouging people for the bottled water they had in stock, in some cases charging as much as $10 for a 1 liter bottle. After 3 days of this most of the crowd were both thirsty, and angry.

Dixie chicks vs the president , the Beatles take on Jesus, the nightclub fire, the shooting of dime bag (I know you said no deaths but he was shot on stage. Kinda puts him in a dif category) Britney and Christina kiss madonna, The Who stampede (cmon that was awful) more recently the shooting in Paris during a concert (while most had never heard of the band the members are pretty well known). The premiere of MTV , the burning of disco albums, the Beatles break up, madonnas erotica (even more controversial than like a prayer could only be played after midnight), what's his name sitting on top of the building and freaking everyone out at the vmas. So many moments you left out. You could have even added the first Grammy winner , the time a musical score swept the academy awards, prince at the Super Bowl, even go way back and mention the crazy concert of Beethoven. B.B. King and the fire and the story of Lucille. All music didn't just start in the 80s.

The Rite of Spring premiere riots, the Beatles come to the US (cause obnoxious screaming girls), Isle of Wight 1970, Roskilde 2000 disaster, Bob Dylan goes electric at acoustic-only Newport, Red Hot Chili Peppers unplugging at Super Bowl, MIA middle finger Super Bowl, Rolling Stones at some motel in like Mississippi, Mozart vs Salieri, Madonna’s Justify My Love video, Mariah Carey’s lipping fail (after this was released, ditto Vegas Massacre), Green Day tantrum at iHeartRadio, Richard Wagner’s anti-semitism...
Wow, mystery solved. I always wondered where the hell that U2 album came from 😄
My mom and I honestly thought that my dad got the U2 album. We still thought it was super annoying when U2 songs starting playing while listening to music though. I would’ve never expected to ever find out the actual reason why U2 songs were in our playlist. But now that we know my mom deleted them almost immediately. And it sucks to think that if my mom hadn’t watched this the U2 songs would still be on the playlist for quite awhile longer.
How about when Dylan went electric?
Nathan Tompkins Honestly I thought that would've been at least mid-list

Tori Bigando I think. She still sung the song, but she just lip-synced live. Many artist do that.

Two events that somehow missed the list are:
1978: Elvis Costello plays "Radio Radio" on Saturday Night Live, stirring the wrath of NBC.
1980: Dead Kennedys perform at the Bay Area Music Awards. They started with "California Über Alles" then switched to a song they wrote specifically for the show - "Pull My Strings."
The Metallica/Guns N'Roses show on August 8, 1992, at Montreal's Olympic Stadium. James Hetfield is critically injured by a mistimed pyrotechnic and has to be rushed to the ER. GNR, asked to fill the remaining time, causes a riot when Axl quits after only one or two songs. The audience, already pissed about the long delay in getting GNR on stage, went nuts. The ensuing riot caused millions in damages and nearly caused the Quebec government to call out the army.
Mostly right. They absurdly asked Guns to go on early, the reason Metallica opened these shows was because they knew they could do their show and get on with their lives and then it was up to Guns. So Guns was asked to go on early, went on later than even they were supposed to without the accident, then peaced after 55 minutes, not one or two songs. Then the riot happened.

I think Mike Love's speech at the Beach Boys' Hall of Fame induction in 1988 deserves a place in this list.
I think that Disco Demolition night was infamous.

The "Like a Prayer" video should have been on the list instead of an honorable mention. It caused such a controversy when it first came out, but now it's considered iconic.
Dylan Madsen how so?
The song is a thinly disguised paean to oral sex. Some people considered the juxtaposition of erotic and religious imagery blasphemous. There was also a contingent who objected to the theme of what they called 'race mixing'.

There will be another top 10 infamous moments in Music History.
I hope so, because they left out KISS unmasking on MTV, among quite a few other historic music industry moments and events.
Manchester Bombing.
@@razorback9999able That was definitely an historic event, but I don't see how it connects to the music industry, which is the current subject.
Green Day's rant at the iHeart Radio Festival. He smashed a guitar screamed loads of fucks
things like that have happened plenty of times and to a bigger scale. that was nothing
Yeah, Jim Morrison did something like that, except instead of smashing his guitar, he pulled his man parts out for the world to see
what happened?
So basically, when Green Day were performing, someone in the crowd held up a sign saying "one minute", meaning they have little time left in their set. Billie saw it and got pissed off, cussed out the guy, smashed his guitar, flipped everyone the bird and stormed off stage. He felt they were being cut short
Also important to note, two days after this he went to drug and alcohol rehab.
Vark Vikernes deserves #1 on the list. He was charged for burning down three churches (he is believed even to have taken photo of church being burned down and featuring it on the cover of his "Aske" minialbum) and murdering his bandmate. Mostly because of that scandal, metal music is considered to be satanistic in some societies...
That guy is near pure evil.
👀 .... The second I realized why I had U2 album on my iPhone when I never really listened to them.... the second I put those eyes at the beginning of my statement!
i was happy to find the U2 album on my phone. i wouldn't mind getting other free albums like that.

+TheRedChameleon Says the guy with the anime profile pic
***** I suppose I can relate to that.
Funny thing about "Payola" is that's how modern radio works. You hear the same 10 songs in rotation because stations are all owned by big companies getting paid to play popular music. The music is only popular because it's constantly played and people think that because of how much it's played, it's obviously good so it's all an illusion.
It's really the reason music is so shit nowadays
HopeHouse44 you have to buy advertising on their forum....it's the new payola..
