When I was in 8th grade (9 years ago), we had done so many band competitions but my teacher wanted us to try to squeeze one more concert to send the 8th graders off to high school. I was percussion, and most of us had our parts down, some woodwinds, and maybe a trombone or two, but ultimately we ran out of time and didn’t get to perform this. I played this my 9th grade year, and the other bass clarinet didn't want to learn bass and so I basically did a solo by myself. My band director conducted me wrong and he panicked because I didn't come in when he said to, but I came in correctly. Ever since then I've loved Marche Diabolique with all my heart ❤
We played this in GMEA All state for 7th and 8th grade. I still can't believe how every time we practiced, somebody different every time would rest for a half note at the end instead of a whole note. When we did our concert, nobody messed it up.
I love this song way too much. Specifically the clarinets at the beginning. And, since I’m biased, the French horn solo riff thing. You know what I’m talking about. 0:37. Then later there’s a lower version.
I’m playing this in band rn as a percussionist on Timpani. You have not experienced real fun until you have played this piece from measure 70 to the end on Timpani
