So far after treatment on my 2013 T700 with the paccar has been in the shop 3 times. Up to $8k in repairs and still having the same problem. Def is full flashing red light dash info shows low def and check engine light with wrench on and then finally the big derate and 🛑 engine light. I’ve had some bad luck with this truck. But I do like the engine so far.
Ray Nieto, exactly the same problem I am having with the 2012 T700 my fleet owner bought for me. I am waiting to be towed back to the Kenworth on Poplar Road in Greensboro, NC. They had the truck for 12 days, gave it back, and 120 miles into a moneymaker, I get all the dash warnings saying that I'm empty--but DEF is pouring out of the tank! When I do buy my own, it will not be a Kenworth!
It’s the wiring harness. After paying for controllers, dosers, nox sensors over and over. Finally went to a shop that said the harness is bad giving false readings. Had both replaced, after treatment and scr. That was two years ago. No problems since..... knock on wood

They will all give you problems if they have emissions no matter what brand. The paccar is a big problem because of so many proprietary parts and also the software needed to work on them. Not nearly as many options when on the road. Just keep that in mind.

My 2012 kw with paccar engine is showing mi def blinking light and abs. Egr has being deleted. But the truck don’t start. Any ideas what sensors cause the truck to quite and don’t start?
Don't get caught with that delete on the road. Dot will shut you down. Plus it's illegal to run that way. And no dealer or some shops won't touch or work on your truck because of that.
Lee Hill some things are better not to say Out in public especially in writing on UA-cam but there’s some tricks to keep em running and out of the shop.
I drive a paccar 485 .its been at the dealership over 1 month because they can't figure out why the "low def" light comes on & the red check engine light comes on shortly. The engine powers down to 5mph. I keep getting the truck back & the problem starts all over again. I liked this engine for the past 3 years until now. The dealership can't even figure out the problem
Been learning from the things you show. Including replacing thermo king motor mounts. Got a stumper on my hands. The stop engine, and cell light have come on. The original codes were low fuel pressure. Kw changes the front unit pump, resealed the o rings on injectors, and a control valve. After charging me $453 to replace a fuel filter. Get it back ran ok. Made it 70 miles. Lights back on again. Ran like top till then. Repair guessing is killing me. Presently at kw, different kw. Tech says the front unit pump isnt fueling again. 70 miles and it doing same thing . I need help.
Old thread but did you ever figure out what the issue was with get the low fuel pressure I am running into the exact same issue at mhc now getting new injector seals
Best part about those insta type airline fittings is when they leak you take them off throw them away, and replace with a compression style fitting and never have a problem with the air leak again.. Those things are Junk..
sorry I didnt go throught the whole vid... but do you have the recall engine mount on this engine.. the belt issue with the idler and the a/c compressor issues was fixed with the belt rerouting and the new recall engine mount with the slot cast into it for the re routing of the belt. and there is a different belt
+harry_nads__ I am so fed up with MHC that unless it is a job entirely too big for my shop to handle that I won’t take anything to MHC. They have been a huge ripoff since we started trucking. It’s sad to say but it’s true. I’ve had issues after issues with MHC not wanting to “warranty” stuff and overcharging on every estimate they have ever done for us. I have tried Tupelo MHC and also Memphis MHC and it’s all the same song and dance. It’s cheaper for me to pay for parts at full retail and fix them ourselves than to even walk into MHC. I had a good friend of mine that worked at another dealership and then moved to MHC. He called me to get me to come see him about some trucks after me calling him because I thought he was at “the other dealership” still. After learning he went to work at MHC I told him no way never mind. He promised me things had changed and all this and new Management has fixed it. Well needless to say we bought 6 trucks from him. A few months later he seen what I was talking about and he also quit. So no warranty work has been done to engine mounts or idler pulleys. Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching. I hope I didn’t offend you talking about MHC but hat is how I feel as well as most of my drivers as well as my entire shop crew.

The so-called PACCAR engine is a DAF engine from the Netherlands. I don't know why you have so many problems in the US with this engine. In Europe DAF Trucks is the second in selling for the 16+ tons and that for many years. You won't get there with bad quality. Since 2013 DAF Trucks is manufacturing in Brazil with engines from DAF Trucks The Netherlands and satisfaction over there is great. I heard from a guy that he has seen the PACCAR engines build by Cummins. Has the quality to do with the police of Cummins?
That’s there for a reason. I know this is 2 years late. But you shouldn’t be idling anyways. Get your fat ass out the truck if you wanna sit down somewhere comfy. Emissions is the main reason why it’s there.
The so-called PACCAR engine is from DAF Trucks Eindhoven the Netherlands. In Europe DAF Trucks is the second in selling trucks 16+ tons already for many years. So about the engine you will buy quality.
@@e4die_on_ig So .... ? PACCAR is the proud mother of three great truck brands. The technology of the MX-13 still is Dutch, developed at Brainport Eindhoven. Another company from there is the very well known ASML.
+Jesus Martinez I am a peterbilt fan can’t ever go wrong with a long nose large car either ! I do like paccar engines better than anything in the emissions engine market today. I do like the 60 series Detroit engine but can only get them in a glider kit now. Good thing about a peterbilt they will sell faster and hold their value really well when ur ready to upgrade.
+Jesus Martinez man there’s nothing I can’t walk you through on that paccar engine. They have Cummins emission systems on them as most trucks do now so don’t let that scare you either but I even have a trick for that ! 😉 they are good engines and with the proper software you can make them pull hard and get great mileage ! Easy to service. We have 11 of those engines in our fleet for a reason ! I have a video that will be out next week and it shows step by step how to do a full service on the paccar engines. I shot it on a Kenworth t680 but all the same on a Pete. You can service and grease everything just by watching the video step by step. Had a guy ask about it and wanted me to do it so ..... it will be up next week. Let me know if u have any questions at all I will be happy to help you and if ur ever running through North Mississippi swing it by the shop and we will look over everything for ya ! I will hook you up with anything u need on them !

+Ray Nieto I can plug up to it and check the actuator for ya or if you take it somewhere that has the Paccar Davey software they can also. Any codes on the dash ?
Gentlemen, today is one of the hardest Sundays. I must to deliver Chiquita container bananas to Kroger, Delaware, OH for Monday morning. On May 15, I picked my truck from The Peterbilt Store - Delaware. And today I did drop again my truck at The Peterbilt Store. I did ride to Shop on my risk, THE CHECK ENGINE, and THE HIGH TEMPERATURES, and STOP ENGINE LIGHTS. ENGINE was shoting down 5 times before I get to shop. The Emission System is killing truck business. It is the SUCK the HUGE MONEY $$$$$ for THE DIAGNOSTIC, and to REPLACE SENSORS, and REPAIRS, and LABORS. And mileage on my truck only 465000. PLEASE I ask you Gentlemen, what kind of trucks do you ride, and THE PROBLEMS do you have with your trucks. THANKS A LOT!
Koon Trucking Thank you. I will. Just few hours ago I got a text from my mechanic of Peterbilt Shop. "All right man so you need an after treatment harness. Has to do with all the emissions on the truck. We can have it tomorrow With parts and labor you're looking at $1995. Can have it done tomorrow "
@@KoonTrucking I've seen a 2012 384 with 504k on the clock that I'm seriously interested in. I was wondering if I bought it could i have it delivered to you to do a once over, DOT and "service it" to a standard to keep me out of the shop. Could you take a delivery and price it out for me?
Honestly with emissions on them they are all JUNK ! Cummins are easier to get parts for and more people can work on them. I don’t think they last as long until a rebuild as a paccar engine will. If you are wanting less problems buy a glider kit with a cat or a Detroit 60 series in them.
I work at a Peterbilt dealership. Paccar are less reliable. Right now they are having a substantial problem with cam failures. 4 in the last month all under 400k miles Had to install long blocks. The fuel systems are also very problematic. Difficult to work on. Wish they would have left them in Europe.
@@kylewilcox8928 These problems are American made. No engine problems in Europe or Brazil, cause these engines are made by DAF Trucks in The Netherlands.

so... i hate to say the common issues you listed, have nothing to do with the Paccar engine it self, all of the parts you listed are not even made by Paccar, their common items all makes and brands of trucks and engine makers use, particularly Cummins,....

The smaller paccar engines are made by cummins even on the valve cover they say Paccar powered by Cummins. Same as the 6.7 liters. The MX13 is made in Columbus MS just south of us.

You might have to replace your def fluid lines that come off the def fluid pump sometimes them wires rub possibly change your def fluid filter
Clean them def fluid injectors that sit above the pump I believe it's 3 of them ran hott water threw mines no issues✌️
whats the best oil for this motors??
What does that “air disconnect line operate “?
Pretty sure it's for the fuel injector for exhaust after treatment

Best part about those insta type airline fittings is when they leak you take them off throw them away, and replace with a compression style fitting and never have a problem with the air leak again..

Could you show me where the idle shut down sensor is or fuse is located
That’s there for a reason. I know this is 2 years late. But you shouldn’t be idling anyways. Get your fat ass out the truck if you wanna sit down somewhere comfy. Emissions is the main reason why it’s there.

You can service and grease everything just by watching the video step by step. is paccar engine less problem than the cumming x15 ?
Honestly with emissions on them they are all JUNK ! Cummins are easier to get parts for and more people can work on them. I don’t think they last as long until a rebuild as a paccar engine will.
If you are wanting less problems buy a glider kit with a cat or a Detroit 60 series in them.
I work at a Peterbilt dealership. Paccar are less reliable. Right now they are having a substantial problem with cam failures. 4 in the last month all under 400k miles Had to install long blocks.
