Great demonstration accompanied with an indepth explanation of how to put together a group planting. Best video I've seen on UA-cam about the subject. Thanks Corin.
Great video Corin. Your many years of experience and teaching show through and your relaxed style is refreshing. In a very short period of time you have created, for me at least, the most watchable and informative bonsai channel.
I have to say I’m just showing your videos to my in-laws and we’re all captivated by your natural style of presenting. You’re clearly very very talented and a great ambassador for Nottingham in EnglandI’ve subscribed I will be watching your future videos for sure. Thank you
Loving your content, this channel is so refreshing compared to a lot of other bonsai channels on you tube. Your skill and experience really comes across well. 5 years into my bonsai journey now and learning all the time ,thanks for sharing your knowledge.🙂
I am impressed by the short periode of time used to make this composition. It is really helpfull to hear about how to select and form a natural looking group.
This is a really good informative video about group plantings. I learned a lot from it and I'm glad that UA-cam's mysterious algoritmes made me find your channel. Thanks for taking the trouble making your videos!
I started 9 different size maples last year and was going to make a forest planting this year with them but after watching your video I think I will wait at least one more year. Great video on this topic, it inspires me to do more. Thanks!!
Great video Corin, good example of how to put a forest planting together. You do have the advantage of having many trees to choose from!! May be not as easy for for newer people with limited choice of trees
Another instructive video Corin. As mentioned we don't all have the luxury of so much tree choice (do you do sale or return 😀), but shows the possibilities. Well done. looking forward to the next video. Did a larch group planting with your dad in the mid nineties. Due for a repot today!!
I consider myself a bonsai amateur with few "pre-bonsais" on my balcony, but if i had the possibility to try and create bonsai forest, this video would definitely make me fall in love with this style. Your presentation, commentary and skill makes it look very easy, although it surely can be pretty difficult to create... Particularly I love the way you explain your thoughts about composition and logic behind your decisions like when you put that little curved tree on the left next to main one. Look forward to future content. Personally I would love to see some clump style tutorial as those trees look really gorgeous, at least to me.
Corin, Great video and and absolute pleasure to be able to watch in real time you put the group together. Thank you for the help in putting my own grouping together and look forward to many more visits
A different method to how I put a group together, and now very keen to try your method. Thanks for sharing such an in-depth informative video. Love it 🌲
Thank you, very much! You've taken a lot of the mystery away in group planting. I'm excited to know that the first stage of your demonstration tells how you allow a year for the trees to become accustomed to the environment and only much later the grouping is removed as a whole, having a chance to establish itself for further enhancement. I have never seen a grouping created from the beginning. I so appreciate it. You make me feel like I could, maybe, attempt this. A great video, thanks again. Fraser Valley ca
What a chose!! I am so glad I found your videos a few weeks ago. You have inspired me to give my hand at bonsai. You have got so many beautiful trees. I liked the pot that was colored more like the bark. Love your accent, and have to say your so damn good looking to. Love the show and wish me luck when my trees get here. Merry Christmas!
Thanks Corin. Great explanation and technique. Just as i remember when you were here in NJ. Timely too, our club is doing a workshop at the end of the month with Larches at one of our members backyard nursery. Digging up and everything. Glad you're getting the exposure. Steve.
One of the best forest videos I have seen. I just found your channel and am currently “binge” watching. Love your content. Thank you for sharing, Steve (periodwoodworker).
Thanks Corin. Greatly appreciate your time doing these videos. Liked and subscribed! I miss visiting my favourite bonsai nursery in lockdown - lovely place to spend a few hours.
Hi Corin, I’ve been spending a lot of tIme watching utube videos lately and I have to say that was possibly one of the most instructive I have seen to date. Your method of assembling the group so much simpler than some I’ve seen on here. Well done and please keep producing more of same. Can’t wait for normality to return and to be able to visit your nursery.
This is a wonderful tutorial on acer forest plantings! I just discovered your channel as recommended on Bill Valavanis posts, and realized how much I have been missing! Cheers! and keep on the great videos coming! Thanks!
This is the best demonstration I have seen on a forest group planting. Very detailed and informative. I had been looking for a good video demonstration on a forest group and this is the best I have come across. I am currently working on a miniature cedar forest arrangement with staked upright Procumbens Nana junipers, shaped into a facsimile of a windswept coastal cedar forest. Your use of ample heavy soil was very informative. Your relaxed style reminds me of Grahm Potter who was one of my favorites.
Cheers Mr T glad to see you've kept it up..Keep posting please. I liked the superimposing of leaf onto the bone structure, good editing and good vids. Thanks
Fantastic job Corin. Clear, concise and easy to follow tutorial as always. I'll be doing my Birch group planting in the next few days, hopefully if it's only half as good as yours I'll be a happy bunny. Keep doing what you're doing.
I watch a lot of your videos this one perfect for me,info comes from your real personal experiences and learning. Look forward to pay a visit to your establishment.
Great video and another alternative for positioning and securing the trees into the pot. That’s always been a struggle - usually secured to a buried bamboo framework but that can be limiting on depth.
I have literally found this channel this evening . This is a great video , Very good presentation style too . I actually went on to your website too see if u sold them but couldn't find any . But I will 100% have a crack at this technique
Loved the way you explained the soil used then to akadama in a couple of years I will definitely try your technique of using generous amount of soil and "excavating " to get the trees placed
Fantastic video as always Corin. Thank you for putting yourself out there. One of the top bonsai practitioners. A beautiful composition. I can see myself forking out for some Acers this year, in preparation for a group planting next year. Inspiring
Thanks Corin. Very instructive. Having only got 10 maples from you last year, we’re thinking we might need a few more before embarking on the forest project, plus a pot of course. Chris & Sue F
A great video in real time. Please continue to make videos this way as it give us noodles a better understanding of how these trees are put together. I watched it all the way through enjoying every second. Once again thank you very much for such a great video Corin. 👍
Corin, im new to the channel as well as Bonsai so my praise will come more often than most of your older followers. i really wish i had discovered Bonsai alot earlier in life, there is so much to learn and so much i want to do, but when im done here ill more than likely watch another. amazing work!! Oh, thanks for the links, i dont know where i was looking, but i signed up and will order soon.
I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. I've always wanted to try a maple group planting and will give it a try this Spring. Wish I was in the UK so that I could visit your nursery. Thanks for sharing your expertise
Brilliant video, Corin. The forests that you have on the bench behind you are fantastic - good to see what is possible a few years down the line. I found this video really inspirational and makes me want to get out and have a go. The idea of planting into a John Innes based compost is also an amazing snip of information that I have not come across before - previous guidance suggests using the bamboo frame - this makes putting the composition together so much more straight forward. How long would you envisage leaving the trees in the JI before repotting into akadama? Thank you for this video and the others you have recently made - brilliant stuff!!
Just the best group planting video I've ever seen. I was just wondering if you have done a revisit to this group yet as I can't find it I would love to see this two years on if possible Corin
Very helpful video your knowledge comes across as well as the skill you show in putting these forrest groups together . Another fab watch really looking forward to the next one , any video's coming on soil & tools also?
Great job and very timely for me as I have a forest that I plan to renovate and add more trees to this spring. I always wonder if you lose any trees as a result of such heavy root pruning. It would be very interesting to see this forest again in 2-3 months after it has leafed out and had time to settle in. Thanks-Larry
we all used to have to go on a course to be shown this sort of thing suddenly we get to watch how to do it for free. very grateful corin
These longer videos are great. Keep them coming.
A very nice composition, looks great!
Great demonstration accompanied with an indepth explanation of how to put together a group planting. Best video I've seen on UA-cam about the subject. Thanks Corin.
Definitely a natural teacher so easily puts information across great new channel keep it up 👍🏻
Your videos are always well explained, with clarity, humour and clear camera work, many thanks
I second that!!

Nice one Corin. I enjoyed the talk through as you plant each tree in the forest. Beautiful outcome.
What a great video. Good to see the composition from start to finish. The planting looks amazing and good luck with your future night time sorties.
Very informative lovely planting hope to see a follow-up late spring to see the leaf colours as they emerge thanks

An excellent video by a very competent instructor; many thanks.

Great looking forest. Thanks for explaining everything you did for us.
Cracking video... Well made, instructional video... Beautiful group composition 👍

This is so satisfying! It's so beautiful, I can imagine how it's going to look when it starts to bloom, Love it! Thank you!
Excellent & very informative video - thanks Corin
Very enjoyable and informative tutorial. I was so worried the pot would crash down off the tripod turntable though.

Excellent video! I hope you make more like this. The group planting looks like it will turn out beautifully. I'll be following your channel.
Great video! Glad the moss was scraped off your neighbours wall "under the cover of darkness" 😂
