I fly SWA SPECIFICALLY because of you, Ernie….. The passion, but most importantly enthusiasm you and your fellow aviators have for SWA and your craft makes me feel immensely more comfortable knowing consummate professionals are at the yoke. Add on top majority of the team are US Veterans, SWA is a true winner. P.S. SWA if you see this, Give Ern that fourth stripe!

Hey there Ern. I recently got accepted into Destination 225 program with Southwest! I am supposed to be assigned a pilot mentor soon. Your videos have been a bit inspiration to me. Maybe we’ll be flying together in the future!
You have the best cockpit videos and just seeing the interior and explanation of the setup for flight never gets old. Your presentation is one of a kind. Thanks Ern.
Ernie I just want to say that your energy is amazing and you are an inspiration to me. One day I hope to be a pilot for southwest because ever since I was a kid I’ve flown southwest and every time it has gone so smooth and I love everything about the airline.
I flew on the MAX one time before it was grounded. It was the best aircraft I ever flew on. I am very anxious to get to fly on it again soon. Smoothest flying, quietest plane in the skies.
Hey Big Ern! New subscriber here. I guess you could say I grew up in the airline industry. My dad was as a lead A&P on line maintenance at KRDU, 30 years in. He started at PHI Helicopters on the gulf coast, then went to Piedmont Airlines in the mid-80s and on to USAir after their merger. He spent a couple of years at ComAir in Greensboro, NC KGSO working phase-check maintenance on their CRJ's. I think he enjoyed spending his last years in the industry inside a hangar, after so many years on line maintenance in Raleigh, in the weather. lol He passed away in 2013 but it's because of him that I have such a profound love of all things that fly. Unfortunately I did not go the aviation route as a career even though that was my life's passion. Anyway, I am a huge 737 fan going all the way back to the 200's. The Max is just the absolute pinnacle of the family. What a beautiful aircraft. That cockpit is utterly amazing. Things have come so far! I'm glad they are working so hard to bring them out and back to the field. Thanks for what you do! I have thoroughly enjoyed the videos I have seen so far. It really brings back so many memories of crawling all over them with my dad as a kid. I can almost smell the skydrol sometimes! LOL
Love how ya still get excited about the airport and a hotel with airport view. Glad I am not alone on that one - or has a spouse that doesnt care about the av geek either. Lol
Whenever I go to visit my parents in Maryland I fly out of Orange County (SNA) and I fly into Baltimore (BWI) using Southwest. It's always been a great flight. It would be an honor if I was on the same flight as you Ernie.
Speaking of the Max. I just ordered a SWA Max in diecast (N8730Q) and according to FR24 its currently flying from OGG to SMF. Nice Virgin dreamliner and Sun Country seven-three at the beginning.
no peppermill, what the.....lol, I used ti live blocks away from peppermill nice place and loved living in reno, in Minnapolis now again but I watch your videos all the time and love em' , especially when the green hornet is being utilized, keep taping, hopefully we'll all get to see some wheels up footage in the southwest theater of operations, Peace, Brent
What you said about the wing making it harder to get down because it’s too aerodynamic (if that’s such a thing) is the exact same thing I experience on the aircraft i fly now. Thing does not like to slow the F down Thanks big Ern I’m looking to maybe one day joining you on the 737 one day. Wanna say thank you in person.! I got about 570 multi turbine time and sic on two types. I’ll be going for pic ride in a few days.
Glad to see SWA taking more deliveries of the MAX recently. Would be pretty cool Ern if you got the opportunity to fly one of the brand new jets from the delivery center at Boeing Field down to Phoenix!
Damn, I love BigEm's channel !!! Always look forward to each new posting. Gotta luv SWA too, (flying with them next week: nonstop TPA to BDL - business select. ) "CAVU" , Guys. :-)
Awesome video Ern! I peaked at the tail number and my wife and I just recently flew on this exact plane. So smooth and quiet, I fell asleep actually. Good videos keep it up!
That's what I call a room with a view! And that Southwest livery is just gorgeous on the Max. Always love when you take us on the walk around Ernie. Great upload, as always.
I know what you mean about the hotel room you can see the runway from the MGM in Vegas the wife and I watched the planes for hours have to be a Airplane geek!!
The Peppermill and the GSR are my two favorite hotels in Reno… we went to the ‘Mill a lot during my undergrad for the midnight steak and eggs for 5 bucks. Haven’t been there in a while with COVID, should go back again soon. I have a guy in my flotilla that works for them. I haven’t seen too many Maxes in RNO, hoping that I might get to be on one soon, and that I’ll have you as the FO!
Love how you give an inside look at the daily operations of flight crew @ SWA. Look forward to flying with you!! I'm a BWI based FA. Keep the videos coming Ern!!
Hey ERN always wondered who cleans the cock pit ,I have been told the main cabin cleaners aren't allowed in the flight deck ,I guess in case they touch something and cause all kinds of chaos ,I can't imagine an engineer cleaning are there specially trained cleaners or does an engineer oversee the cleaning just curious . G,day Big Ernie from Sydney Australia. Are the charts on the screen in the MAX Jeppersen or straight from the FAA? With the "walk around" inspection of the aircraft, can we spend alittle more time having a look at the jet engines (donks) connections etc. Please...... 🐝💨
Great video big Ern! Hopefully looking forward to flying on the SWA Max in August from BWI to San Diego. I always admire how you critique yourself. Always trying to improve! Safe travels!
Hi Ern! I thoroughly enjoyed ur video! This is my first time watching u and I just subscribed!!! I always use ur Airlines out of Midway to visit my niece and her family in Minneapolis. It's the best for great rates and employees both on the ground and in the air!!! I hope to meet u sometime. Keep up the great job of getting us safely to and from our destinations. 😉✈
Hey Ern! When are u gonna get that 4th stripe ? Just read on google that the clearance between the max's engine and the ground is 43 centimeters, that is not very much indeed! Great vid as always!
I find the Max much harder to get a good rate of descent at lower speeds even with the speed brake out. Maybe better descent planning! Or as you say drop the gear.. damn as I write this your talking about it now!! haha
Hey Big Ern! Im new here but love the channel. I have been searching around and havent seen your take on the issues the 737 Maxx had and your trust in the way is was corrected. I traveled on one before the accidents back and forth to Europe but nowadays im not so sure I'd be quick to travel on that plane again. Thoughts?
Love Southwest! I fly SW exclusively except if there is a city I have to be SW doesn’t fly there. I have a list of every N-Number plane I’ve ever flown on SW. I’m starting to fly on multiple N numbers as I fly out of KMCI. I’m leaving for Memphis in the morning through KMDW and on to KMEM. I’ve flown on the Maxs several times they are very comfortable and yes they’re very quiet! Southwest is the very best in the air! Love using my Companion Status using it to go to the beach!
Love your videos! A good friend of mine is also a FO at SW in Phoenix (you know him, he's on the hiring team with you apparently. Initials KK.) I'm an avid flightsim enthusiast and I talk to him a lot about flows, procedures and all stuff Southwest to make my simulation as real as I can get it in my X-Plane Zibo B738. What I'd really like to see is a video of when and what stage of flight the various lights are turned on/off (LANDING/RETRACTABLE, TURN-OFF, TAXI, LOGO, WING & WHEEL WELL). [Position and Anti-Collision are obvious.😉] Altitudes (10,000 or FL180, etc) when they go on/off. Sounds silly, I'm sure, but I've pretty much mastered all the other systems. I just can't find anything on the specifics of the use of lights at SWA. Keep them videos coming! Between you and KK (and of course my VR headset!) I feel like I'm sitting in the left seat next to you guys!
No way I was a ramp agent at reno when you guys landed. We don’t get much maxes besides the ones Southwest brings in so I remember admiring it as its my favorite plane (other than the Dreamliner)😂. I’m heading to college to study aviation and get my pilots license…all because it’s my dream to fly a max!!!
Can sure use those MAX's right about now with increasing fuel prices. Also, heard from a 30yr Boeing friend I know that the wing tips on the MAX are interchangeable, meaning they can actually swap them over to an NG series without issue and in fact, Boeing will be installing them onto the NG series (for the fuel savings). Also mentioned that the MAX can continue to operate if just 1 of the winglets becomes damaged (via ground or bird strike), unlike winglets on non-MAX aircraft.... I guess that happens often, eh?? Thought that was interesting information. ~ Happy Flying
Another great video BigErn. Love those large screens on the MAX. When I flew the B737 many moons ago the displays were called EADI & EHSI. We had both a speed tape and an analog AS Indicator. The altimeter and VSI were analog as well. I’ve been on the Airbus for quite some time and now it’s just PFD and ND. Is it called that as well on the B737?
IIRC, when the NG’s were fairly new at the time when the Classics reigned WN’s fleet, the NG’s didn’t have an operational VNAV. That way, pilots could fly the NG’s the same manner they fly the Classics.
Interesting to know the max 8 is really slippery as well. I fly the max 9 and that thing just wants to goo, energy management vs the ng is very tricky.
Awesome video Erin🙏 Got a question; will you be sad when Southwest retires all of their NG’s? I mean, the Avgeek in me loves the sound of those engines. 😁
Hi Big Ern, Thanks for the video. Great as always. I love the MAX. I recently flew on it LAX-OAK and SJC-LAX. It was much quieter than the NG, but I was expecting it to be even more quiet because of the hype. The AC didn’t blow as hard as the NG, though. What were your legs to get back to PHX on day three? @@guitarstar717 Unfortunately, that too isn't allowed. FAA is pretty strict with that for commercial jets, probably something to do with preventing another 9/11.

I see screw holes like a panel is missing or something is out of place. Just a wire laying there seems awfully out of place. Just so wondering, Great vid.
I sure wish we could see a few takeoffs and landings. I watch Just Planes on UA-cam and they show the entire flights at times. Is there a reason we can’t do that here?
Hi, Ern. I'm flying from Las Vegas to Ontario/LA this Friday. Early Morning. Are you flying that day for the first flight I believe? That would be cool!

I miss the nav lights on the back of the winglets
can u actually do some full flights instead of start up and shut down only please
Love the SWA 737 MAX 🥰🥰🥰 It's always my dream to fly wit SWA...hopefully soon!
I'm a big fan of the Marriott just down the road. Great patio seating that overlooks the runways. Makes for a pleasant happy hour.
Hey there Ern. I recently got accepted into Destination 225 program with Southwest! I am supposed to be assigned a pilot mentor soon. Your videos have been a bit inspiration to me. Maybe we’ll be flying together in the future!
Welcome to the 225 program! It’s a party 🎉
I wish I knew about that program when I started flight school a few years back . Good luck man give it all you got
Congratulations!!
If I gave you my email can I email you with some questions?
Congratulations and see you in the sky
What I am surprised about is the MAX you flew (N8814K) was one I recently flew on
You have the best cockpit videos and just seeing the interior and explanation of the setup for flight never gets old. Your presentation is one of a kind. Thanks Ern.
Flew for the first time in the Max last week, TPA->FLL->HAV. I was kinda nervous given all the accidents but hey it was a smooth ride.

The 737 MAX 8 sure is a beauty! I love the look of the bigger engines and dual winglets!
Yeap bigger engines in the Max. Isn’t where all the issues started from?
It's not anymore
Love that big, keen attitude you got going there, Big Ern. It's refreshing, just the way I like tom roll in this job, too.
Listening to you guys laugh about the landing rating is awesome. Thank you for sharing this and your positive voice , attitudes and smiles.

Hi Ern. Great to see you in the Max! So what is different now with the MCAS system?
MCAS is no issue today, multiple added redundancies and safeguards in place to prevent anything from happening. Incredibly safe aircraft

No safety vest? Just asking.
