I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come back to this video to perfect the way I make my sets. Thanks for the great videos and the trapper rendezvous. It was really fun and I bought the predator trapping package #1
I've been keeping a record of my sets the past two seasons, no joke out of 83 coyotes in 2017 2018 top dog took 47 dogs 9 Bobcats. I'm a believer, love top dog .
Nice job, as like you my coyote sets are small. Not a firm believer in 10 or 11 inches back, I'm sure it works for guys that way. An old adage I learned from one of the best in the business, drop a hot dog in front of a large dog and watch where he steps.
I like to put stirred foam underneath my trap pan and it works great for anything that walks. And I use the smallest trap out there for coyotes. The trap I use is duke 1.75 or bridger 1.75. But I have had to experiment with stakes a little bit cause last to times I caught coyotes they have pulled my stakes out the ground and got away.
FYI I've used top dog for years I always buy new each season any I have left I use for catfishing best bait for predators on land or in water just saying
Curious .....How long is your cable length on your stake typically ? Also i've noticed in your video's that you typically remake a set after a catch using the same trap but if the animal is caught on a drag and appears to have left the set area/dirthole immediately without leaving much scent at the trap location are you also reusing that trap ? Keep up the good work on the video's, they are informative and enjoyable.
We just use the standard Berkshire Disposable Stake with 15" Cable. In most cases 12" would be enough. Yes, we re-set the same trap, We have thought of that as well - so far no issues. Thank-you!
Great content guys!! Really like your trowel. Seems like it is made for dirthole sets!! Is that a fab piece or can you purchase that trowel somewhere?!

yes, we sell it - it is under the lure ingredients in the catalog and website. Normally I start with about 4 oz. to a gallon of meat. May require more.
I assume you are asking about dead carcasses or composted carcasses. Normally, I stay at least 10 yards away or further. Set down wind. Setting close will have alot of issues with non-target catches

Coyote will dance on its hind legs to pull up trap, using one stake it needs to be 3 ft long or two crosses 2 ft long if using steel stakes
Good set charlie
Great job thank you

What can I use to stop a meat base bait from continuing to age?
sodium benzoate
@@HoosierTrapperSupply Do you sell it? How much per pound of meat?

How far away from dead pits do you typically set traps?
