    I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

    Who the hell clicked DISLIKE...... John's video's are always a pleasure to view.He is always trying to make it as easy as possible for viewers, hence metric and imperial in this instance and he has on offer a 100 page...... YES, a 100 page flipping document regarding his in depth workstation (that of which most of you would have checked out his individual videos) and he's only charging $9.90 for it where most people out there charge $10 a jig design. I'd get it but I've already got a bench that I'm happy with. ( Problem is, I have retractable wheels on it and it's struggling I think with the weight aspect)

    Thanks so much for the ultimate workstation series, it's fantastic. I was not compelled to get the plans because my tools are all different dimensions, but I watched the series like 4 times and took lots of notes. My version of the workstation is "finished," I love it and I use it all the time. Thanks for all the inspiration! I have purchased a couple of T-shirts to support the cause, & encourage anyone out there getting a lot out of these videos to do the same. Keep up the good work! -Mark

    Love your videos and channel! Would also love to see a video where you go over the last few projects, maybe a monthly thing, or something after every 5 projects that goes over how they've worked out, what you love about them, and what you would change if you could. I know viewers love seeing UA-cam creators make some mistakes sometimes, as it makes us feel more normal when we make our own, lol. Keep up the great work!

    I dunno how I missed this video, John... I guess life got in the way (cross country move, divorce, etc.). I absolutely loved the series during the original build, as well as the new router review video right after. Anyway, I just wanted to say congrats on the wedding, and I'm heading over to buy the plans now. I've been a woodworker for the last 15ish years, as well as an industrial designer and draftsman, handyman, kitchen and bath designer, fabricator, and more. You're take on an all-in-one bench is one of the most refreshing, creative, and well designed ones I've ever seen... So much so that I'll be building one like it soon (modified for my tools, of course). My circumstances have dictated a smaller-than-single-car garage to be my workspace for the foreseeable future (5+ years). It's good to know that I can maximize the space, but still put out quality work and keep a tidy shop, all utilizing your design. Well done, fine sir!

    Your workbench reminded me of a concept I had for an "Ultimate" workbench. It was made up of three modules (for easier moving) with all of the tools stored in order of use (in a counter clockwise direction).
    The tools would flip up, flip over, swing out, swing up from their stored positions, their platforms level with the table saw (visible), router table (router visible) and bench top.
    Each module had electrical outlets evenly spaced and each tool had dust collection tubing (with barrier panels that can turn on or off each tool / emergency stops still work).
    The modules would lock together, forcing electrical and dust exhaust to connect precisely. Sorry for the long comment. ;-)

    I just got done watching the series and noticed that the bottom of the miter saw section was left open. I think you should add a small box there for you to store your extra miter saw blades. I think I will make my own version of this sometime, but I have a smaller shop than you do, so I will need to modify it quite a bit. I also think you should get an impact. I have a Bosch that has the same 12 volt battery your drill does, the only thing I would change about it is the lag when you press the trigger. they are a lot better for driving screws. Great series, I plan on watching the whole thing at least one more time.

    Cheers from Mexico,and congrats on the wedding!

    What an amazing project! I'm so close to buying the plans. Only thing that bothers me is the size of the bench. I would have liked to be able to cut it in half and shove both parts in a corner. As it is now it would take to up to much room. I wonder if I would be able to modify your plan to suit my needs.
    Having said that I'm in awe at your ingenuity and engineering skills. Amazing.

    Hi, I am enjoying your workbench build. I just watched you install your mitre saw. What angle of mitre is possible with the recessed platform? Can you cut up to 45 degrees? I had a small idea for you: with the vice installed, make a bung or peg to go into the hand hole in the top drawer. The bung should be a snug fit in the drawer hand hole and the diameter remaining outside the drawer to be level with the bars in your vice. This would support a longer board in the vice, level, for say, to plane an edge.

    Really like your work its given me loads of ideas, by coincidence I have the same table saw and mitre saw. I think there is a design flaw on the Metabo KGS mitre saw in that when you screw on an auxiliary fence the sliding part is not secure and lifts up, did you have the same issue ?

    Peter, have to say I’am hooked on your videos,👍🏻 I’ve just. About finished my bench, all by the table saw which I’am still to buy, can I ask you what you think of your Makita, it’s the one I want to buy, it’s been updated now, new fence clamps front and back, plus new flat cutting top, it’s the right price $650 here in Australia, can afford the dewalt and Bosch etc, but I still have to buy thickness and shop-vac etc so it’s within my budget I set myself when starting up the project.

    I have a couple of questions for you. I know you hesitated with the electrical but I am familiar electrical wiring but don’t know what it’s American equivalent of what you show. I am also very curious as to what you used to set up your compressor to be automatic draining. I am the guy who when done with compressor empties the air and water valve

    • @WoodshopJunkies
      @WoodshopJunkies  5 років тому

      I used a normally closed contact on the main contactor. When switching off the compressor is switched off the contactor disengages, closing the normally closed contacted and powering the valve that dumps the compressor. I then added a timer so that the valve is not always energized when the compressor is not powered on.

    Before I buy the plans, can you give me the measurements of the final build? I have a small shop and want to make sure it will fit in my area. Height, length, and depth please. You stated the plans are available for $9.90 but when I went to buy it shows $12.90. Is there a coupon I am not aware of?

    • @WoodshopJunkies
      @WoodshopJunkies  7 місяців тому

      Hey, the bench is 1600x2400mm that's about 5.2x7.8ft so the bench is quite large. The original price was 9.90. Since moving the plans over to a dedicated website and getting more people involved the costs of the site have gone up and so the products also. Soon I am building a bench better suited to small shops. Maybe hang on for that one. It might work better for you.
