Thank you everyone for your kind words and remembering me . I am truly grateful and fortunate for I have equally learnt a lot from all of you over 35 years in Commandos. Reading your comments recalling “Tekong”, the mascot dog; to the advise that helped see you through, to the back brace , to buying the right running shoes , to my fitness, to my code name Rebel ……makes me SMILE 😊 It is what it is, Alzheimer’s chose me and I will give my best to slow the progression. Evon and I are advocating for Dementia which will take us to the Camino 100km walk next week and we will do our best to create awareness of this invisible disease so that people can seek early diagnosis. I still quote when sharing “ It’s not about being the best; It’s about Giving your Best”. Take good care of yourselves and families. Peter Estrop P/S I look better than Vivian B 😂😂😂
He was my OC at SISPEC Alpha Coy. He once shared a story with us on his past experience and how to be a real leader. “You might not have the ability but you must have the responsibility”. Till now I still hold onto this value in the private sector.
Yes, 2005 SISPEC in Tekong.... was a great OC. what a great person, always shares great stories with us and always look up to him. Sir, our prayers are with you all the time, you have come across great hurdles in life, this is not going to pin you down. P/S we had a Mario like CSM with us.... If you all can remember me, I am the one who do lots of pull ups, Pull up king.
I absolutely have huge respect for Encik Peter. When i was an NS medic in Tekong, he was with SISPEC, if i remember with Delta Coy. He asked me to help treat an injured dog (sort of their company's mascot). I agreed on condition he helped to hold the dog. So, i helped to remove a rock stuck in the dog's paw and bandaged it. Encik Peter was such a nice person although we all know his reputation as a Ranger. I meet him again when i am working as the FMA in SAFTI MI and he is still the same humble man. May God bless him and his family.
Delta Coy OC was WO Lim Song Siam also a commando. WO Peter was Alpha OC. The dog's name is Vicky a narco dog that used to be from SAFPU. I'm from SISPEC 9th BSLC. And a retired master sergeant from the SAF.
I was a medic (in a lifetime ago) attached to Scout Training in Tekong when I first met En. Estrop. He was lovely and not as intimidating/fierce to us the support team, as when he was conducting training for the trainees. He was nice , fatherly in fact and a consumate professional. Remembered when he shared his experience and compared the US Rangers course and SAF Ranger course to us, Medics and Lobos at Tekong jetty where we had our bbq 😃. Wishing you well, En and Mrs Estrop, in dealing with this disease. Lead the way.
Wow! Sir, you were my Encik when I was in 1st Commando Battalion. You are truly showing the commando fighting spirit! Keep it up and keep fighting! Love and blessings to you and your wife.
Peter if your men in the army remember and reach out to you, then you are truly a very good SAF commander. It is not about being the best, it is about giving the best. Respect
Dear Peter, we cross path when i was serving my NS in the battalion.......u hv always been a serious Encik on your job.....i wish you all the very best! Be your Best!!
Had the pleasure of meeting him at Pasir Ris Camp. He brought me in to give talks on buying the right running shoes for the commando recruits. He cares for all and ensures that they are injury free during their course. Wishing you well Peter and God's blessings.
Dementia is such a horrible disease. My grandfather was diagnosed with early dementia about 4 years back. Year after year, his condition had worsen, you see an adult transform into a child and into a baby. Currently he is bed ridden and just waiting for his time. Hope this lovely couple stay strong, it is definitely not easy caring for a dementia patient not to mention when the person starts to forget you and even himself.
Sir I know you might not remember this but we talk about it all the time. You hurt your back when you went to test the sky and afterwards we (trainees) had a 6km run. You strapped a back brace and you went for the run with us. We were like errr Sir aren't you in pain. And you said ya that's why I'm only running 6 click and not 20. 😅 The tenacity and determination in you is an inspiration to us all.
Beautiful couple and outlook towards dementia. I perfectly understand as I lost my husband from Alzheimers too, just 2 years ago, January 6,2021. He had the slow type and he had the symptoms since we got married, which I had no clue then. We were married for more than 18 years. I took care of him and he was my soulmate, too. I know how hard it would be, Evon and I just want to give you a big warm hug. ❤
WO Estrop codename 'Rebel' was our CO at Alpha Coy Sispec. We still talk about him with immense fondness and respect. Take care Sir God bless you and your family. You are what we all aspire to be 🫡
He is a familiar face in the army. I only managed to know him better during one of the CoC parade during NS. He took good care of us. Thank you Encik Peter.
Encik Commando Estrop: you have always given your best and have always done work for Honour and Glory. God Bless you my brother, prof tony rappa and MAJ Ivan TS Tan (2nd Coy and 4th Coy and HQ Cdo .... minor roles for us) Commando!
Hey Peter, you are the brave man we know and as like this show sharing with us about it. Kudos to you. Be blessed. Smile as you have built memories with many.
Once i asked an opinion from this Encik and he took time to humbly listen, till today am thankful for his advise that changed my life. Take care, Encik!
I met this man 18 years ago at the SAF parade rehearsal. A real tough man and yet knows to motivate young men. This quality cannot be described in words. You have to meet him in person.
He was my OC during my time in SISPEC, for both basic and advanced SISPEC in Pasir Lebar camp. He was really fit and could outrun any of us youngsters. We really respected him, not becos he was a ranger, but he really led by example in both in a physical and caring aspect. Really sadden to see him being diagnosed with dementia, we will pray that you and your wife will be able to cope and enjoy your twilight years. 🙏
o man what he said really hit me. Even when i am not facing what hes facing... just some toughie at work! its not about being the best its about giving the best. that is just so inspiring... dang :(
There is a reason for everything. Fight the good fight Enchik. Maybe God has chosen the warrior in you to put this disease to shame and bring hope to other patients and their families. You are a leader, your dear wife no less a lioness. With God to guide, may you both be victorious, for all our sakes.
I don't know the couple Peter and Evon in the video. Peter's situation seems similar to Dr. Newport's case. Taking MCT in coconut oils and checking monthly on the drawing capabilities, see if there are improvements. In Dr Newport's case, there were improvements in the coined Stephen's clock time drawing. These days, Alzheimer’s disease and its cognitive malfunction have been seen as endocrine diseases that exercise, diet, and specific supplements can help. See Dr. Dale Bredesen work (2014). In addition, we need open-minded and look at Eastern medicine like TCM's holistic approach. Otherwise, we'd mainly wait for big Pharms to give us mega drugs and this silver bullet approach is outdated.
I suspect that dementia is most prevalent to people with no kids or grandkids to play with...Both my parents are in their 80s with sharp minds as they are surrounded by many grandkids to keep them active...🤔
So what exactly happened to come to know this Mr Peter has dementia? Is it he thought he has tea already but actually not? It's not easy and glad he accepted it and dealing with it 👍
Frequent brain fog is a give away, best to get this checked. MRI and MoCa test will ascertain whether it is dementia. Yes Peter has accepted it and determined to create awareness to encourage early diagnosed .
As parents, we entrust the lives of our young people (young people who are not even old enough to vote) into the hands of the Government for the sake of defending the country. “WHY SEND SUCH A YOUNG MAN TO THE FRONTLINES?” On my way back from the wake service, my wife asked me, “What would you have done if it was our son?” My son too served his National Service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). alzheimer's aka dementia aka diabetes type 3.....insulin resistance of the brain..... reduce the insulin in blood and the condition will be better.... if early stage, possible reversal.... being fi and being healthy are 2 different things..... don't confuse them as one
I've heard coconut oil helps people with dementia. Wouldn't hurt to try. I've read studies that said it helps with schizophrenia and Alzheimer's as well. Best of luck.
Absolutely agree. MCT's C6 and C8 should be used. Ask an open mind nutritionist about the dosage. See also, Dr Stephen Cunnane and Dr. Newport on ketone studies.

It's not a good omen if he sees his double. Either one or both could be in danger.
It old age. Need to accept that. Health come first.
