topherh33 No, seriously. How does him having a ring show that SHE does not love him back and waits for something better? You really Interpreted whatevrr you wanted into that.
topherh33 There you go again with the interpreting whatever you want. That last sentence comes completely without reason. I just stated that I don’t think that him having a ring does not mean she does nit love him and you go basically accusing me of always siding with women and loving a man being a victim. How far fetched is that?! If you just make up anything that fits your perspective then I don’t see how we can come to have a good argumentation. Do not put words into my mouth that I never said and nit even thought. Stop interpreting what you want to hear/read. And as for your argument, just because she was not ready to marry him when he was ready does not mean she does not love him. I really do not like them as a couple but I think claiming that she does not love him, especially with the argument of him loving her, is just not plausible. I do think they are nit right for each other but I do not think love was ever an issue. In this case, it was the right time that was the issue.

Penny (clearly) loves Leonard’s personality and his quirks but she does not like it when he is above her in anything and she always makes fun of him and not in a humorous way. She belittles him and makes him feel like he should be grateful to be with her. She has expectations of him that she herself does not have of herself. She expects him to invest 100% into this relationship while giving only 50%. now with Leonard, it’s a different story. He does not have a backbone. He treats Penny like a goddess and still always expects her to leave him. He gives in in every argument they ever have. He is basically her lap dog and he lets it happen. All in all, they both are just not equal. While they are both content with the roles they have been given, it is just nit a healthy relationship. This is probably one of the most realistic proposals every put on the screen; it is the portrayal of that singular moment when two people, in a most ordinary way, mutually conclude that they love each other so much that they are compelled to commit to a lifetime together. It wasn't planned. There was no pomp and circumstance. There was only . . . love.
It is not solely based on love. As you might have watched, she was thinking about her life choices and concluded that marrying Leonard is going to be the next best choice.
+FedralBI Not to mention that he's been carrying that ring around for a few years as he said: Talk about planning ahead, wishful thinking or endless patience.
Also I might be late to answer this comment, but carrying condoms on your wallet is a bad decision, condoms should be stored in perfect conditions, like next to your nightstand preferably where it doesn't get too much sunlight.
I actually like how they did this. It was still cute especially the end but if they'd had a 'normal', completely romantic proposal it just wouldn't be like them. It's part of their appeal as a couple that everything seems messy but it works
I don't like how they did it. Back previously, on the valentine's day episode, they had agree that Penny would have to propose to Leonard, and he said that he wanted a big fancy proposal. And he didn't get it. Disappointed in how it turned out.
Definitely a more realistic engagement than the super-romantic proposals you usually see on the screen. Most couples I know, including my wife and I, discussed it casually and it just kind of... happened. No public proposal at a fancy restaurant, catching one or the other by surprise... just "We're engaged now."
I remember when my mom and I watched this episode. She said it was how she and Dad got engaged. It was pretty much just, "We should get married." "Yeah, sure." And that's all she wrote. Sometimes you don't need to be flashy. Just be on the same page.
Pretty much the same here, only it was over the telephone while I was stationed far from home in the Army. I don't really think "the question" was even asked by either of us. We just sort of decided together.
My husband and I were similar. We were laying in his bed talking about marriage and basically decided. He later did a surprise proposal when we were out with his family on a hike.
This is actually kind of what happened between my husband and I. It was a logical decision, and the best decision we've ever made. But I did look at him and say "so... are we engaged?" "Yeah I guess so." "huh, doesn't feel right." So he paused his video game, and proposed. He didn't have a ring in his wallet, but I started shaking and almost fainted. It's amazing how important the proposal and the "yes" is.
LOL I'm glad you said this because I didn't have ANY sort of proposal and I still feel really cheated. Meh. Anyhow--AWWW to you and to "Penny and Leonard"!
Lol my husband and I met each other playing an MMO two years before we got married. He was living in another state when we got engaged, and we didn't really have a proposal either. It was keeping it from happening. Her relationship w/Leonard finally developed, the pressure was off, and suddenly she wasn't a professional liability any more.

She doesn't need other stuff to make her happy. "Then what do you need?" "YOU" They need each other bcos they love each other, so other stuff is irrelevent
Take a lesson from this: don't be a bran muffin(boring), be a strawberry poptart(exciting, and if you're applying this to a relationship, then be something she's truly passionate about, and not just a smart decision)

You can be any pastry you want lol
Thanks for this. What a Gem. I started to cry because it was so beautiful and heart-warming. I can't thank You enough.
This is almost how my husband and I got engaged. We knew we wanted to get married and his mom had just met my parents and we were talking about wedding plans and we just turned to each other and said “instead of waiting to afford a ring, should we just be engaged now?” And both agreed. We turned to our parents and said “btw we are engaged now” they asked when that happened and I said “just now while you were chatting”. Our wedding was almost exactly 1 yr later
"You can be any pastry you want" And then comes "YOU, YOU STUPID POP TART" !!!! One of the greatest pre-proposal lines of all time.
The Greatest TV show in history
Anybody who’s watched this show, yelled FINALLY when penny said yes 😅.
She doesn't need other stuff to make her happy.
"Then what do you need?" "YOU"
They need each other bcos they love each other, so other stuff is irrelevent
One of my favorite scenes!
I never proposed to my wife. I just gave her a ring and said, "I give you all of me."
After that we just moved on to planning our wedding.
Well done Leonard.. Well done.
Take a lesson from this: don't be a bran muffin(boring), be a strawberry poptart(exciting, and if you're applying this to a relationship, then be something she's truly passionate about, and not just a smart decision)
And FYI, he's not a bran muffin; he is a good decision, but he still has earned the title of strawberry poptart!)
+Rachel Johnson Pop tart is better as one word!!! (Poptart)
You can make a bran muffin exciting- if you cut in half and put in some butter /cheese / jam in it it's really lovely. Poptarts get boring fast
@@bilqeesnagdee7466 So really, to make a bran muffin exciting, you make it obscenely unhealthy; it's best characteristic
Or....don't base any of your decisions on things from a TV show where script writers are under constant pressure to provide storylines?!
I love that he’s carried that ring around for a couple of years. Makes me so happy for love.
2:36........."Had it for a couple of years, not important"..............but then, he is DOWN ON ONE KNEE................finally getting the courage to say those words: "Penny, Will You Marry Me?"
I could’ve sworn that leonard line after penny asked where did you get a ring. He said remember when you moved into the building, yea, a non creepy amount of time after that…🤔
It made sense that Leonard had that ring for a long time. He had been proposing to her before this and she constantly said she was not ready. And she told Leonard when she's ready to be married, she will say it. And this is that moment.
you can feel real love betwen them
Omg Leonard.. As opppse to condoms he has an engagement ring. Lol love him😃😁
And this is one of those shows where the noise by the studio audience actually DOES work !!!
"You, you stupid Pop Tart"!!
I miss this show so much!
Wish I had a pop-tart rn :,) the real or the metaphoric one is fine.
I'll take the combo platter of both! Haha!
