    I learned noseslides on small curbs about 4" high. The key things that helped me were keeping my board parallel to the curb, leaning back into the stall, & waxing my nose as well as the curb, I found waxing the nose really helped alot.

    Slappy noseslide are a personal favorite.
    Yours are looking great, and your analysis is on point as usual.
    One tip that’s maybe less obvious - pay attention to where your wheels rub the box in the slide. Sometimes waxing that area can really get things moving.

    love this video !!!!!
    🔥🔥🔥
    my first “real” trick I learned when I started skating again at 40 was a nose slide and coincidentally that was about 3.5 years ago and I am STILL trying to figure out how to get these longer and better, so you’re not alone. The things you said about foot position wax and angle were all spot on ! 🙂
    keep up the good work 🤙🏼🛹

    Timing of this video is crazy! I’ve been working on nose slides a bunch lately too. I’m probably going to make a video about it as well. I’ve learned a thing or two that seem to be helping me. Also, my little grind box is nearly identical. I love it. 👍

    Thanks for sharing!
    We each have our own stuggles and strength moments.
    Like you mentioned moving the upper body in front is a source of disaster. My daughter made me realised that when she ran and fell one time. I knew it but didn't really realise.
    That's something I always tell myself everytime I'm skating lol

    Looking good! I've always been a natural noseslider more than tailslider. Yes, wax is key - especially the side of the box where your wheels make contact. I would also recommend keeping keeping the weight more on your heel than the ball of your foot - maybe even trying to lift your toes off nose a bit and just standing on your heel. Might sound awkward, but for me this is key to pushing through the inertia. That and trying to bend the knee a bit more, makes for a pretty safe feeling noseslide, as you won't be pitched forward so much if you do stick, or if you slide out you'll most likely still end up on your feet.

    It’s taken me a really long time to get at all close on nose slides. I slid one like 3 inches yesterday, and that’s about my peak with it. Going to try out your foot placement tip! Really nice 50-50 kickflip out, too! Gotta try that

    Very good video. I could watch you forever as you work on these tricks. Your patience is amazing.
    Isn't that the box you built in your father's workshop? That was one of the first videos I saw of yours. You really motivated me back then.
    Maybe I should get my replica out and finally use it again. Thanks for your great work. Keep up the good work.

      thanks Azzam! This week while trying the impossible was actually the first skate I had with just about zero pain or discomfort! So, hopefully as long as I keep being careful I can strengthen it up and stay away from knee pain for a while! Hope you're getting in some skates too 😃

    And your way over 1/2 way (in height anyways) to sliding or grinding that pyramid ledge. As a perspective. But you've got to solve the transition thing.
    Maybe drop in the bank ramp then do the box stuff. Set the box where the speed is comfortable from the drop.
    It'll be just as easy. But you'll have to adjust your feet by feel.
    You're all overthinking, it works but it won't at speeds faster than you think. I'm pushing you into that faster than thinking zone. It will naturally happen at speed. More like surfing and snowboarding. You'll adjust to obstacles by feel at speed.

      @leifbennett1354 6 місяців тому

      Wax is ambient temperature sensitive. So it's better at my local skatepark, to not wax if it's colder out.
      All my silly transition challenges will be as easy as this nose slide example.
      Overthinking mole hills into mountains. I'm just crashing you through the mole hills.

    Noseslides to fakie have always been easy to me but noseslides to regular have been a problem. It took me a couple of years and a broken ankle to really learn them. 🤕

    How much sliding could a nose slide if a nose could slide noses?

  • @AgedSkaters
    @AgedSkaters 14 днів тому

    I never used to wax anything and would try to just force slides/grinds. Perhaps that's why I always had a hard time getting consistent results.

    sounds weird, but the rougher the surface is you're sliding on, the easier the slide, because your board is then touching less ledge and therefore won't stop so easily.
    of course this has it's limitations. a surface with sharp edges will slow you down.
    but this is only theory. I never did a tail-/noseslide 😛
    hell, I only skated twice this years. it's only raining 😕 also, 7:12 damn that flick! =)

    • @SarahParkMatott

      haha slides are all about figuring out that friction ratio I suppose! I imagine that's why I've heard marble (I think it was) slides less well than expected. It seems smooth and slippery, but probably a ton of friction from the smooth surface

    • @las10plagas
      @las10plagas 7 місяців тому

      @@SarahParkMatott yup it's marble, I've heard that, too : )
      though, I wouldn't even consider sliding/grinding marble, because it looks so pretty 😛

    Any advise on how to position the body in order to turn in to the nose slide? I keep turning less then 90 degress which makes the nose not locking in fully and I keep slipping out 🙈

    • @SarahParkMatott
      @SarahParkMatott  7 місяців тому +1

      If I was struggling to get into the 90, I would probably ride with my shoulders facing the nose/obstacle, and play with the angle at which I ride up to the ledge. For example, you can do a little carve heel side right before hitting the ledge to help make that angle! It's hard to know without seeing it, but that is my first instinct for where to start exploring 😃

    I'll be honest here without being over the top with it. Not subbed anymore, but this showed up in my recom. I always did this trick by popping into it. Never did it cross my mind to slappy. Never did I even hear of slappies in the early 00s. 23+ years later & it's still fun. Clearly my bias speaking, but it's a lot easier & funner to pop. Now do it scared!

    great video and well explained
    if your going to try 50-50 kickflip out i would advise also trying pop shuv into the 50-50 first so your doing a trick in and a trick out ;) its a great little combo and surprisingly easy just learn it stationary first then you can take it to anything 🛹
