KNjOWEnterprises 7 is actually a pretty good rating. if you look at it from an objective view, 1 being worst, 5 being average and 10 being literally the best, 7 is quite a bit over average. personally the album is a 8.5 due to not liking one certain track but other than that it was all great and right up my alley.
Hey! are you antony fantano? you know, I'm with this girl and she is a huge fan. I was wondering if you could just give her a strong 8 real quick. It would mean a lot to her vrau...
This is an album that has really improved with age, IMO. I can't help but think of this as a nearly if not perfect record. From Jon's beats, his voice, to him opening about his addiction, advice he gives out in songs like Human Condition, the way all of these themes interweave throughout the record...it's just stellar.
"Look at these people. Counting on me when i cant even count on myself. Look at these homies, So sure of me when im not even sure of myself. I need to slow down... I just need a good friend to show me how." So real and relatable especially if youve ever struggled with addiction.
Every time those lines repeated I felt them more, perfectly encapsulates the position that I and too many people I care about have been in. Never heard rap that spoke to me like this album did.
actually, fantano put it purpesely while reviewing Jonwayne's album. In the final track These Words Are Everything he gives props to Dilla, especially to the Donuts album
I am so glad that you exist sometimes.. this is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I know my biases often usurp my judgement. but it's too true that jonwayne lives in the ever-expanding space between what is good and righteous, and what is dope.
I don't know how I feel about the other 23 hours and 50 minutes he spends screaming the N-word into a memory foam pillow. But other than that, yeah he's doing pretty well for himself I'd say
"Putting a hook in the track" IS the division line between, "underground", and "mainstream. He's clearly making a statement of where he wants his music to be.
I really enjoyed this album. This was my first time listening to Jonwayne and was pleasantly surprised. The beats blew me away and I had to look up who made them. Turns out he's talented enough to make his own beats and have clever flows with witty lyrics. The introspective songs on the album hit hard and he's trying to open himself up in a way he claims he hasn't before. I feel like I know him better as a person and will definitely tell my friends to check this guy out. I'd give it 7 or an 8. Some moments do feel lackluster compared to others so maybe a 7 would be more representative.
it actually took me 9.5 seconds just to click. it's more of a personal achievement. i have never used a mouse in my life. this is the first youtube video i have ever watched.
Anthony please help me find this album you had mentioned in one of your vinyl update videos ages ago. the cassette packaging was the brazilian flag and it was experimental/ambient music. ive gone through dozens of your vinyl update descriptions to see if any of the artist names sounded familiar and skimmed through the videos but i still cant find it :/ pls respond thx keep up the gr8 videos
I have to disagree with your statement of jonwayne basically needing to get over his problems to create better art. He vents his struggles through his music. His sound would change and not be as raw and vulnerable. I just can't believe how slept on jonwayne is. Lyrically, as a producer, an artist. It baffles me
I think you hit the nail on the head. It seems to me that he is beholden to himself as an artist before anything else, and that can yield some mixed results in terms of the varying tones throughout his albums. I'm personally a fan of most of what he did on the album having followed his work, but I understand the perspective of seeing him as somewhat self involved when it comes to music.
If you are ever in the mood to listen to something heavy, i would recommend two deathcore albums that just released this year, Flesh Coffin by Lorna Shore and/or Xenocide by Aversions Crown. Pretty sure your not the biggest deathcore fan, if at all, but these two albums are probably the highlights for deathcore this year imo.
Love your insights man. Astute observations. You make great recommendations to artists in relationship to the listeners and how we're all interpreting it. I think artists would do well to take some of your advice.
This album is incredible, it aged perfectly and the tracks are friggin killer and beautiful. TED Talk, Human Condition, Out of Sight, Paper, City Lights, Rainbow, Afraid of Us, Blue Green, Hills, and These Words Are Everything are absolutely fantastic and the best tracks from the album, imo. 9/10.
Hi Anthony, i'd like to know your opinion about these 2 albums: Core by Cosmetic (shoegaze - february 2017) and Bleed by All Hail Noir (weird rap - august 2015). I think they're pretty good even if flawed. Thanks for the great musical discoveries!
I thought the song live from the fuck you alluded to the transition from child to man, amateur to professional. When you first begin rapping there is an immense passion and you are eager to rap to whoever will listen but as you mature you become more jaded and showing off your skills turns from an opportunity to a chore. So I felt like the song was a way for Jonwayne to say I've grown from a child to a man in a very humorous way. Really love your reviews bro.
Honestly I only clicked because the cover looked interesting, never even heard of the guy. Glad I clicked, he's even on Stones Throw, which warrants a listen.
You should talk about the new Enterprise Earth when it comes out. I'd definitely be interested in your thoughts on some of the more extreme metal from a different side of the metal spectrum.
The whole review, Jonwayne's been staring at Fantanos head like "justify my seven".
KNjOWEnterprises 7 is actually a pretty good rating. if you look at it from an objective view, 1 being worst, 5 being average and 10 being literally the best, 7 is quite a bit over average.

im with my boys right now

I mean dog is her birthday
This album has so many beautiful tracks. Keep coming back to it. City Lights, Afraid of Us, Human Condition, Paper...
Real nibbas listen the album first, then watch the melon, comment "why this get a _ and MBDTF a 6?" and then go to sleep.
Hiii PoWeR bad copy and paste remix.
blegh/10
why I get a "blegh" and MBDTF a 6?
'afraid of us' is beautiful
Maxwell Young definitely the track I had on repeat the most
agreed!

Is the 'good friend' a metaphor for hard drugs in that bar or something?
@Adam To me it means a sober, or more disciplined friend.
BRO BRO BRO! "Counting on me when i cant even count on myself." nothing more tre.
Still going through it but eventually I know I just have to do it.
"So real and relatable especially if youve ever struggled with addiction".
glad to see this guy's doing ok after selling minecraft
His 2015 tracks, 'That's Ok', 'Wonka', 'Jump Shot', and '40 Winks' are also really good!

dcg3369 Nah, that's his brother stevie.
underrated
dcg3369 He released a rap song 😂😂😂
thinking the same thing hahaha
dcg3369 You're not alone, my friend.
Jonwayne's appearance contradicts him, which is what I love about him. Smooth album, can see it becoming a cult classic
Respect for Donuts in the background.
actually, fantano put it purpesely while reviewing Jonwayne's album. In the final track These Words Are Everything he gives props to Dilla, especially to the Donuts album
GOAT album. everyone needs to listen to this one
Still very true to this day. A beautiful piece of art. I love it. Gives me vibes back to 11th grade 2017. What a crazy crazy man. Such a genius
Happy thanksgiving, pilgrims. It's johnwayne at the first thanksgiving, pilgrims.

I am so glad that you exist sometimes.. this is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I know my biases often usurp my judgement. but it's too true that jonwayne lives in the ever-expanding space between what is good and righteous, and what is dope.
You're a dumbass! Jonwayne sucks and you should feel ashamed

Is anyone else besides me absolutely NUTS about JonWayne? I listened to all of his albums at least five times each and he never ceases to amaze me.
Theneedledrop got a pretty chill life

I don't know how I feel about the other 23 hours and 50 minutes he spends screaming the N-word into a memory foam pillow. But other than that, yeah he's doing pretty well for himself I'd say
Jonwayne is staring at you throughout this entire review.

"Putting a hook in the track" IS the division line between, "underground", and "mainstream. He's clearly making a statement of where he wants his music to be.
City lights connected with me so much. I love this album.
Paper
Out of sight
Ted Talk
Human condition
Very dope tracks.
I like the fact that by the placement of the records, Jonwayne is directly looking at Dilla.
Oh melon how I wish I didn't stumble upon this review. Some of the albums you've scored this on par with is borderline offensive
I clicked this video and listened to this album SOLELY bc the cover reminded me of Madvillainy, and I do NOT regret it.

@@cold5837 woah
City Lights lowkey best track
joeldadson blue green too
clicked on this faster than usain bolt finished the 100m
Taking less than 9.5 seconds to see a thumbnail and proceed to click it isn't much of an achievement
it actually took me 9.5 seconds just to click. it's more of a personal achievement. i have never used a mouse in my life. this is the first youtube video i have ever watched.
@ll novawing ll
It's a hyperbole he used to express how excited he was to watch the video. Get that stick out of your ass.
@Ruler Of The Wasteland
Righto. I make a cheeky comment which he goes along with, and then you pipe up like an angry old man. Calm down love.
City Lights is my favorite on the album
This review is how I found out about this channel. Wish Jonwayne would return
He makes beats on his UA-cam channel. Great stuff
@@CombatClient I know I've been following along from the start and I'm a patreon. Just wish he'd release another album
Review of Stones Throw signee's album, puts Donuts in the back. Genius.
'City lights' was my favorite track off the album
This album is so much better than I expected it to be
I was not paying enough attention for that intro and I dropped my coffee.
City Lights is such a relaxing track, I absolutely love it
2016. I spent the last two years fucking up big dreams.
Paper will be the song I play at my funeral

I want a woman made entirely of cheese to have my cheese son.
weren't you on a sargon vid talking about blowing some feminist's back out?
"The shortcomings of the album, and jonwayne's shortcoming as a person; are (i think) intentional, and pretty obvious" That's what it's about bro.
dude im jealus of that j dilla record in the back
Logan W yeah donuts changed my life

It's not a rare record or anything. You can cop one online for ~20 bucks.
I feel that this album should be at least an 8, maybe because I relate to it so much

His album straight up saved my life 🙏

Thanks for putting me on, my dude. Ted Talk was banger. Gotta relisten to this when I'm not just mindlessly trying whatever you review
Will you review the new Flume EP?
There have been a lot of great ambient releases over the past year / 2 years that you've skipped on. I wish you reviewed more ambient releases.

Does anyone hear Paul White and Danny Brown's two new songs "Accelerator" and "Lion's Den"?
not right this minuet, no.
Torstein G it was interesting and fresh, but not my cup of tea
accelerator sounds like a fucking punk song. its wild

Such a great album. Love that he put Danny Watts a spot to shine over one of his beats
Been addicted to this tape ever since I started listening to it. Thanks for the rec melonator
I like how the the placement of the album cover with your face is like "HIPSTA NIGGA WHO DA FAQ IZ YEW?!?!"

Love your insights man. Astute observations. You make great recommendations to artists in relationship to the listeners and how we're all interpreting it. I think artists would do well to take some of your advice.

Fanthony Antano, PLEASE, I know it's a bit old now, but could you review Red Pill's Instictive Drowning?
His collaboration with Beak> is incredible
Anybody know of any good new hip hop artists?
I thought the song live from the fuck you alluded to the transition from child to man, amateur to professional. You should talk about the new Enterprise Earth when it comes out. I'd definitely be interested in your thoughts on some of the more extreme metal from a different side of the metal spectrum.
