It's crazy how people still accuse Nicky of blindly hating Seraphine when in every video he's made featuring LoR's Seraphine she's consistently been in the top tiers.
Because a lot of seraphine players are used to people blindly hating her, despite the very apparent flaws in her design. LoR’s redesign makes everything better (aside from her gameplay😂)
My favorite part of the DND skinline is that the first art is all of them at the table then its them in game which is an awesome detail, which is why its my favorite skin line in LoR
Bruh the ill beats illoai is so cool. The thought that shes so ripped because she sets up all the dj equipment herself and lugs around that big subwoofer makes so much sense.
I think that for DnD skins, splash art is about 70% of the appeal. Yeah, some of them like Darius, Lee Sin, or Garen aren't too different on their own and they would be super boring if they were implemented in League, but the image of them just being a bunch of friends playing DnD - and you seeing it every time you look at the card - makes these skins so much more fun.
However I absolutely adore the artwork and design on Quinn. A lot of the Arcade designs reek a lot of "I don't really know what an arcade game looks like" so my favourite ones are ironically the regular humans, because this unattached look into gaming aesthetics kinda reframe them for me, Arcade Ahri for example what a "gamer" of that time would want a "gamer-gurl" to look like, and the titular Arcade Quinn being such a good unintentional look of what companies see gaming like in a way that could be marketable, she's the woman that appears in an ad, and I love it for her
Corrupted Azir immediately wins best in the game for me. the snakeshoulders reference Zahhak, of Persian mythology, an emperor destined for greatness but who was corrupted both metaphorically and fantastically, eventually (famously) growing snakes on his shoulders that must fed by human brains. It's a great bit of extra storytelling for the character AND a nod to the vague cultural inspirations for Shurima's design. I simply must love it
The snakes serve as a double reference here, as well. It is obvious that Azir takes visual inspiration from the Egyptian gods Ra and Horus (who were actually syncretised at one point into Ra-Horakhty), with heavy leanings into "Azir = Ra" idea with the whole resurrection and then reigniting the Sun Disc mirroring Ra's nightly journey through the Duat. But Corrupted Azir, growing snake heads, and *breaking* the Sun Disc? That's pure Apep/Apophis, the dragon/serpent (they tend to be one and the same in pre-Christian theology) who *really hates the Sun* and wants to eat Ra to usher in a world of darkness and chaos.
Nicky. The reason Fizz Finslayer has a scar in level 2 and not in level one is because for that entire line, Level 1 is them at the table playing a roleplaying game. Level 2 is what is happening in the game. Level 2 is the character that Level 1 is playing as. You should really judge each of these skins as the level 2, because the level 1 is not supposed to look drastically different. Darius' final boss self insert is actually a cool design.
Honestly that lvl 1 for piltover ekko sells the skin so hard. Like if you're gonna turn ekko into a high society piltovan, having him use the afterimages to socialize at a higher rate than anyone else is capable of really works well with his time shenanigans. Sucks that they completely dropped that idea in the level 2 art.
I think I would have liked Coven/Eclipse Nilah more if it were the other way around, a eclipse knight capturing and sealing a demon, only for it to whisper in her ear and tempt her to join the coven.
I’d love to see a unique skin for reksai. Since she’s not bound to being an insect shark they could go crazy with her. Like worldbreaker could be an axolotl creature or maybe coven/ old god could be some Cthulhu eldritch beast.

The concept of the DnD skins is that level 1 is the players while 2 is the characters, some do it very well like Zilean but I still see the charm of Lee, Darius and Fizz that look like the regular designs, but now re-contextualized in this "2 frame story" of players and their characters, could it be better design wise? yea
i've never played nor want to play LoR (Because i suck at card games), but i do enjoy listening to Nicky yapping about how messy the LoL model are that those skin won't even work, might try the game sometime in the future

Also its hilarious that for some reason the LoR favorite child is Shyvana who has 3 skins, two of which are exclusives, meanwhile Lux is in this game and only has 1. They didn't even make Star Guardian Lux during the event. Lux has been dethroned.

It might be good to point out that Star Guardian Gwen I think was corrupted by Zoe in the lore and then got saved by Soraka and her team, right? That's why she has the "evil" eye. I think it's actually a pretty good skin, I would definitely buy that in LoL since it fits her sooo well!

I really like star guardian and the two wild rift skins, and I hated it that they didnt went to LoL. They're NOT exclusive. They are called "First To" or "Debut". They can come to other games if it's wanted enough.
