They were hung, drawn and quartered, not burnt at the stake as presented in the film. One Catholic friar by the name of Forest was burnt later for rejecting Henry as head of the church, but as a rule the penalty was used on heretics like the more radical Protestants, not Catholics.
@@stevekaczynski3793Yes. Maybe the producers decided re-enacting the death for treason of being hanged, drawn and quartered was too gory for prime time television in the 1970s. I was 10 when this was made. I think I was allowed to watch Elizabeth R about the same time or it may have been a few years later). So children of 12 or so may have been watching. I was okay with implied beheadings or burnings, but I think seeing a reenactment of being hanged, drawn and quartered (even if it was only implied) would have given me nightmares. In fact I think it would have given many adults nightmares at the time. I still do not like too much explicit violence on TV and in films. As much as I liked Game of Thrones I did shut my eyes in some scenes.
@@brontewcat this scene is from the film rather than the earlier television series. They likely wouldn't even have shown as much as they did here on television at the time although I wasn't born yet so not sure lol
Increíble parecido físico el obispo - cardenal - Fisher.
Inocent people put to painful deaths the carthusian monks refused to acknowledge Henry as supreme head of the church in England

Brian Blessed before he became Brian Blessed.
Unblessed Brian
Are you referring to the actor playing Henry VIII? That’s Keith Michell, not Blessed.
They do slightly resemble each other.
@@marquisejefferson1648 Blessed played Suffolk in this film - I don't see him in this clip.
Anyone know where I can stream this movie?
