What a great idea for housing your worms. This way you don’t have to worry about the extremely hot days during summer or the winter months when using an above ground system. Plus you’re fertilizing your garden soil at the same time!

Yes, exactly! But we are still keeping the Worm Cafe too. 🤗

Do you do worm buckets only or do you also create your own compost (composting piles)?

We have three methods of composting... The worm bins in this video are the ones that gets most of our edible scraps and "safe" waste like cardboard and shredded paper. We also get mostly-finished compost from the zoo ( ua-cam.com/video/hKCR_aXK3Yk/v-deo.html ), which is generally what we use when we have a lot of need to use a lot of compost at once (like topping up the beds in winter). Finally, we do "regular" composting. We're still determining the best method of regular composting for us... we've tried a few different techniques, but aren't really happy enough with any of them to recommend to people yet. Thanks for asking and thanks for the sub!

Do you scoop out the dirt after it is broke down and add it to the rest of the bed, or does rain water add the nutrients into the soil around the bucket?

Our feeding and watering of the worms washes some of the nutrients into the soil. The worms also move in and out of the buckets transferring nutrients on thier own. Plants will also send roots into the buckets (you might want to trim them out occasionally). It's possible that we will scoop some out and add it to other areas in the future, but don't expect it to build up to those levels anytime soon. If we do, we'll include that in one of our future videos. Thanks for checking us out!
