Those who have seen the episode know that there were two other desirable cars sitting next to the Cobra and Ferrari, a 1978 Morgan Plus 8 and a 1976 Triumph TR6, both with low miles. We have had a lot of comments asking about the Triumph and Morgan that were hidden alongside the Cobra and Ferrari so this episode focues more on those two cars. If you want to see the three episodes containing the Cobra and Ferrari follow the links in the descripion. Thanks for watching!
That BMW e30 was also quite special. It has the wide wheel arches.
It's probably a 325iX (AWD) and those are collectable.
@@jfv65 yep and they did not even mention it in any of the three episodes about that garage. just sad😢
What happened to all of these cars?
So what was the fait of this amazing collection ? Did owner pass away or where they just being moved to storage ? We need answers !¡!! Lol. Cars have been an obsession of mine since I was a child and we are seeing so many cars now being passed down to children who so many times have absolutely no interest in the cars staying even if family heirlooms... They just was the garage space for their Prius 😊
The wheels on the Morgan were correct factory spec made by Cosmic I think !
Not many people will know this? But the 3,5 Litre Rover V8 used in the Morgan in this vid and used in so many British cars since Rover acquired it from Buick/GM in the mid 60s was actually an all alloy BMW designed 3.2 litre V8 sold to GM in the late 50s. This V8 was used by BMW in their 507 two-door convertible in the late 50s. GM developed this engine to 3.5 litre/215 cu before dropping it for various reasons.
I like that old school bmw sitting off to the side from the triumph
As a vintage BMW guy, I want to hear about that one too!
What was it? An E28, or E21 or something of the sort?
@@pierce324 looks like a e30
Seen atleast 3 e30’s in some of these barn find videos lol
Morgan Plus 8 uses propane:
*Hank Hill wants to know your location*
The ultimate propane accessory!
lololol Im sure someone will find a proper engine and some chrome spoke wheels for this beauty :)
@@Chrissurfs just put a holly 4barel on it. And those wheels are 100% original factory wheels. As far as i can remember the plus8 never came with wire wheels.
@@jfv65 can't wait to see it finished. I know about the wheels. Not sure if wire was an option on plus 8. Rarely see them with stock rims. My opinion was based on personal taste. It's a beauty either way 😊
@@Chrissurfs I went to a dealer back in the late 80's. Yup that car is all stock correct mag wheels and they also took off the bumpers and put on the ugly usa impact ones. Most owners would but the brit bumpers back on after inspection.
Funny !! Find myself sitting here losing all sense of time so mesmerized watching you guys load those two cars. This kind of experience probably only happens to 10% of us who have the "old car" illness !!! You should feel blessed !!!
What was the story with the 325iX? What happened with that car ?
What happened to the E30? Looks like 325IX AWD.
I was waiting for it to take off down the steep driveway.
Tom. I think the Morgan has one tank for propane and the other for petrol . I understand that engines will not start on propane so need petrol for start up and then you change tanks. Propane over here (UK)is half the price of petrol so on fuel guzzlers it's a popular conversion. However , there are dangers with this type of fuel. Looking at all of those cars l think they will all need gentle recommisioning but not major restoration . Very crafty move by Morgan to evade the emmision laws . Tom is your Cobra a 260 or 289 ? I bet you bought that 30 years ago for a relative bargain or maybe your father bought it 50 years ago for peanuts ! Love your show Tom and your knowledge.
No, he bought it in early 80S in California after Tom sold a road circuit (can't remember the name of the place). He then went to get it with Peter Egan of R&T fame. They drove it across the country in early spring.
Peter wrote the whole, amazing story in R&T. Quite a feat.
PS I think it's got the 289 HO version. My very dream car.
Propane is less flammable than gasoline, and yes, the engine will start on propane. It's used in many indoor forklifts.
If you get the chance you really must go to the Morgan factory, do the tour and see how they are built, it’s an absolutely fantastic day out in a beautiful part of the world. It’s also worth noting that Morgan will factory recondition their cars if requested.
Thanks......
Hi from Berkshire Tom, great episode and I’m here smiling just because (as you didn’t mention it on this video) everyone’s now going to be asking you about that sweet BMW 325i parked against the wall! Ha ha - that’s life I guess....stay well my friend, live long and prosper 🖖🇬🇧
It was a 325iX too. Unfortunately one that was wrecked and then left to rot.
Tom what about the Bmw e30. What size Engine does it have and mileage. 😀👍
The wheels on the Morgan are likely to be CHROMADORA alloys, Italian made.
These wheels are the original ones for a plus 8. At that time the torque was to strong for the wire wheels.
In E.U we all ready have propane serving at gas stations. No propane hybrids in the US ? Though conversions to propane dont seem to work too well in the long run, I have seen Vipers and Hummers converted to propane down here. I helped with a 1969 restoration of a Plus 4, wood included. Its a lot of work but we found a good carpenter who ended up making a better than original restoration.
Have you ever found a Buick with the 215 aluminum V8, as opposed to Rovers or British cars?
My brother bought one new, 1962 Skylark 215 aluminum V8, 4 on the floor, black 2 door, red interior.
Eventually got parked, left out in the rain, and rusted away unfortunately.
Man, it's like a dream job, but .. Better)
What about the BMW E30??
1976 was the last year of the TR6.
I've a '75, white one with the blue interior. First year for the raised front bumper, & has the white park light lenses.
I don't understand why these stupid owners don't at least put a car cover over these amazing vehicles.
The wheels of the Morgan are original. The new steering wheels fit on the Morgan.
I could have worked on that TR-6 when it was new. I worked at the dealer in Greensboro through those years.
TR-6s were really cool cars. That inline 6 was a super durable engine. Heavy inside so it didn't rev up very quickly but it would last with jut a little care.
Always surprises to see people buy exotic cars to let them rot in the garage.
I heard one guy on video comment, they have been well taken care of ( LOL )
running rover v8's on lpg is very common here in the uk. it's done on so many rangerovers and landrovers.... i run my 2002 bmw 330i touring on it also, it makes larger engined cars actually affordable here. with petrol being $5.8 per us gallon and lpg at the local gas station (from the pump just beside the petrol/diesel pumps) being $2.65 a US gallon it just makes more sense.
What is the octane rating?
LOVE THAT MORGAN British Racing Green, what more could you want!!!!!!!!!!
There was a young guy on the mid east coast around 1973 - 78 named
Remy Fox, who had a ' 66 Ferrari 275 on the left & a 427 cobra on the right , side by side, both concourse trophy winners .
Anyone remember ?
He offered to sell me the Cobra for 14g.
FOURTEEN THOUSAND !!!
Down the street in the basement of a mansion was one of the original 007 aston martin Bond cars owned by radio station owner
Jerry Lee
I hope nobody is upset over the condition of these cars. At least they were stored inside and look like they would clean up well. I read a reply here asking when Tom is going to get his own show but I'd like to see a "day in the life" video of Tom and the film crew. I love this show.
The Rover V8 Landrover V8 was still in production unit 05 when Landrover finally killed it off, from 91 to 05 I was responsible for foundry tooling approval of the Aluminium cylinder block and heads and all dimensional reports on each new die and refurbished dies etc. The Engine went mainly in Range Rovers but many Rovers , Morgan's TVRs etc, even boats with Landrover ground off the block ay heads prior to machining.
.. actually, as an Alternative Fuel Vehicle, it is Exempt from emissions testing..
you know screw the 3.8 million's worth of ferrari and cobra, lets go see the cheap possible 10k british cars as that's what this is about you saw those two but not these two,
they did not put a Buick engine in the car they put a rover engine in the car the engine came from the rover corporation who bought the design from Buick. But like all engines the engine evolved under their jurisdiction so it was no longer a Buick. It was a British car with a British engine from the 80s which explains why they put it away with only 11,000 miles on it
Im looking for a rustic 1933 Roadster Chevrolet for my Father we can fix up together he used to have. Blue metal flake paint with a white rag top but anything working would work decent. Thanks Im a big fan of the show
I will never understand why people just park these cars to rot, esp the Ferrari 275 and Cobra. Might as well throw your winning Powerball ticket in the fireplace.
People always say.... " Morgans are made of wood..." well some parts are wood... Morgans have a steel or aluminium chassis like any other car, and the have steel body panels, the wood parts consist of panels for the floor sections and an ash frame to support the body panels, like other cars the big problem is a rusty chassis!!
the wheels on the Morgan appear to be some Reliant Scimitar optional wheels. I own some with this exact design so that's how I know. Rare & hard to find 😔 also nicknamed "princess Anne wheels" cause she had them on her car
The lean beet strikingly rhyme because prosecution implicitly reduce before a hideous high cross. fabulous, somber pancreas
SWEET !!!! You can drop anyone of those off at my place. I sure do miss your videos. Hope doing well !
That's a hella nice building. Shame they're tearing it down.
@Clams McGee oh wow. so they owned the cars too? Should destroy those too maybe.
Haven't any of these Yanks heard of car covers? Would save the paint and interior - and guess what? Keeps the dust & dirt off as well.
the white bmw on the side is also a nice barn find, ofc nothing like the others. but restored people would pay a lot for that bmw, especially if its low miles like the others.
Wish i had a TR6 like that to restore,,,
Here's a tip. If you don't know anything about Morgans don't pretend you do.
Love Morgan's all that wood toward and provide food for termites Cos you won't know about till the car falls apart on the highway
Glad that e brake didn’t stick on. I live in fear of that. Must have had a bad childhood experience lol
အဘကျနော်ကားများကိုအဘအကုန်ဝယ်တာပဲအဘကကားကောင်ကျိုက်တယ်
It's amazing what is so close to you sitting in a shed or garage. I was downtown Detroit yesterday in the shadows of the Ren.cen. and saw a 57 ford dusty big blower sticking out. Also a 64 fairlane, both stuffed in there.
When I was a senior in highschool in 1984 I had a 1976 Triumph TR6, it was my first car. It was red with the same brown chestnut interior as that car in the video, in fact, my TR was originally white as well, trim code 19 if I recall correctly. My TRs VIN was CF51849U. Yep, i still remember it after all these years and would love to know if that car is still around. I sold the car in Destin, Florida to a man from Tallahassee and then he flipped it to someone else, wish I had never let it go.
Follow me on twitch at Heromattic for some intense gameplay with my boy Ninja.
Why didn't you show this BMW E30.
tom cotter, did you know bud moore and greg, gregs my best friend and bud life long friend.
My dad still has his original TR3 from 1953.
Shelby... they should put awd ford explorer system
get Ferris Bueller to get the ferrari out of the garage
Those TR6s are sooo cool!
You are a great example Tom of a man who "Loves" what he does! Thank you for finding and saving these wonderful old cars.
Did you let your boyfriend drive your MGB?
What about the e30 BMW? Don't leave that behind! 😃
seems ignorant to tear down a nice garage ...some people have more money than they deserve
Watch original video...Was gobsmacked...Ac Cobra... out Side give me Goosebumps..."WOW". FERRARI..2...
I had a 76 TR6 and a 71. Miss the 76 the most, it was a daily driver, color was pimento .
I so want that Morgan. And I am glad you was able to get it rolling.
theTR6 would be fun to own and drive, but the Ferrari!
Being a Morgan, i would love to have one of those. So much wood work goes into those cars.
Holy sh*t truly LIVIN the dream here gentlemen 🎉
Im certain cobra and Ferrari were auctioned off a year ago. Why is cobra in background? And is this vid year old.
That’s what I was thinkinh
It was. This is a video that just shows more of the other cars in the garage. The original video was more Cobra and Ferrari oriented.
A few of Tom's recent videos have been made from old footage. He probably hasn't been able to get out on the road due to Covid, so they are recycling some of the out-takes that were left out of videos at the time they were taken. I think that is also why we had a lot of voiceover commentary in some of the recent videos--the original audio was bad and the video wasn't used at the time.
because this was obviously filmed at the same time, but not show until now because the higher value cars would of pulled more ratings.
Why is this place condemned?
BBQ Gas is NOT the same as Automotive propane. And I'd say that the US propane automotive filler is not the same as the LP BBQ bottle filler .
I have a 1980 +8. The rims are correct for 1978. +8 came with 14inch rims from 1977 to 1981, then reverted to 15inch. Wire wheels were available as an option on later build cars. Steering wheel isn't original.
Thanks Tom for saving these classic cars!!
I have a set of the same wheels that the Morgan has on a 59 Triumph TR3A
I watched it again. I can see the Morg with chrome spoke wheels. No bumpers. No belt. No fog lights. No side reflectors. Those same headlight protectors behind radiator grill. I would take away the side mirrors and windshield. Add smaller mirrors and 2 small windshields. Put the spare wheel back inside its space witha proper petrol tank and engine. Reconditioning of wood if needed, paint. British Racing Green ? And electronics. Wait till you look under that dash. I love it ! Please please do publish more videos of this Morgan . Thank you !
Is there a follow-up as to what became of these cars?
Powering cars on propane or LPG was a very common in some countries in Europe due to very high petrol prizes compared to LPG.
I drove Range Rover Classics 3.5V8 for over 18 years as a daily and always on LPG.They can start and run perfect on LPG and the Land Rover V8 verson of the Rover V8 can handle LPG very well
without the need to worry about the exhaust valve and valve seats if properly set up.
Only in wintertime when temp.gets below -0 C starting can get difficult due to the fact the low temp the LPG can't evaporate into gas fast enough or not at all.
Starting on petrol and switch over when engine is warmer solves it.
Looks like the system used in the Morgan is the American made Impco mixer system also used in Europe.
I owned a Red TR6 a long time ago. Being from London, UK my car was the I50 bhp version with Lucas fuel injection.. TR6s exported to the US were hopelessly detuned. Still a great find.
Why is this place condemned?
Yeah, it looks awesome. A dream garage to me. Wish it was mine !
I guess maybe it no longer meets local building codes or has structural problems.
Saya sangat menyukai vidio anda, sangat menghibur dengan mobil antik👍
Thats not a barn but an investment shed
If I'm not mistaken these weren't the first cars pulled from that location. I don't remember what was pulled from there previously ( Cobra maybe?) but the location seems familiar. The wheels on the Morgan look like vintage Ferrari wheels.
Sad why ferrari 275 gtb
REAL barn finds! Yay
Very well taken care of? Well , sure, they were parked inside . No dust sheet or long term storage but better than outdoors. They are all survivors which is the main thing. Nice job guys.
What was the 5th car? Beamer? (BMW)
Must be a reason you didn't sit in the seat Tom lol
I was initially wondering why he didn't just sit in the car. Then when I saw his legs I figured that was probably the closest he was going to come to fitting in that car!
You guys still in California right now? I know a location up here in the Central Valley, guy has bunch of cars and trucks in a field.
Such an awesome quartet , Gob smacking low mileage , but to see them running down the road would be such a sight , too good to have languishing in sheds , they built for the road .
The Morgan factory is just up the road from me
Nice vehicles. Too bad they were not covered ( at least put the tops up) during the years they sat. Hope they all receive proper restorations.
The TR6 brings me back to 1983 when I bought my 1974 TR6, same white paint. I kept it until 1992. Good Video Tom!
Have you guys been to see Ken Austin in Newberg OR.? That’s an episode for sure!
This reminds me of a barn find I stumbled upon 30 years ago. Came across several partially stripped cars in a barn where I worked at the time. A few old jags and a what turned out to be a morgan with a rover v8. A family friend eventually bought it at a bank auction and restored it. Beautiful car.
Really enjoyed the variety of vehicles. BTW Tom, I had the same experience with the TR6 - and also ended up getting an MGB; drove it for 15 yrs.
And the bmw?
Normal drives
Thanks for taking us along Tom, privilege to be allowed, always fun and often amazing. "Happy Hunting".
What happen to the e30?
what tom do with the bmw?
Wow, Tom. You're fortunate to be able to own and to drives cool cars. I know that you work really hard. I wish that I could drive one. Back in the day, I too wanted an MGB or a vette.
Passed a good selection of cars on someone’s farm in fort Stockton Texas off of highway 285
Really glad you did go back and address those cars, because maybe not as valuable but just as interesting story!!
