Congrats on finishing your build out. Quite a fancy upgrade. MOTU has become untrustworthy? Crap. Ive had MOTU for years and they’ve always been my go to devices. I have some very old converters that still work fine (MOTU 1224 and 24 IO). I stopped using them a few years ago and pulled them from my system last year since I rarely do anything outside of the box and replaced them with a simple Mackie 4 channel audio converter. It had gotten to the point where i only used two outs to a mixer and occasionally 2 ins. Guess I wont be getting MOTU anymore if I need to change anything.

Whauw stunning, where did you learn all the things you’re talking about, cause you seem to be so young and I know a lot to, but I’m 66 years old, with a lifetime of experience live and in the studio!
RME is a good choice! Very stable and reliable. Only had RME interfaces for the last 15-20 years, first Multiface, then Fireface and Fireface still going strong after 10+ years. One of the inputs needs cleaning, but for 10 years of use, I think that's expected :) Anyway, studio look and sounds nice. Have fun ;)
I just spent 900$ refurbishing my old Fireface 800 (new motherboard and PSU). A lot of people will think I'm crazy, but there's simply nothing as stable and easy to use as the TotalMix software from RME. I use Prism converters, but the Fireface is still the way I control all of my ins and outs. If you add the ARC USB, you have yourself an amazing monitor controller for a fraction of the price.
Fully agree... 13 years of RME Fireface UFX - about 300 Productions done and still working great! also ARC is a very cool extra controller (i use it only for headphones controlling and especially for talkback with the pedal switch connected)
No manufacturer is perfect. RME is prone to the same power supply failures as well. Might want read up on it. So they aren't really that much any better. Antelope Audio and Audient have hardware failures too.
@@eman0828 Yeah, it can probably happen. Never happened to me though, after 15-20 years of use, the only issue I had, was the issue with one of the inputs that needs cleaning. I have many friends who has the same interface, without any issues. But after a google search I do see some people have the issue. Just checked the price of a PSU for FF400. It's around 30€, which is not that bad. Dunno about the newer interfaces.

I only discovered your channel about a month ago, but man I'm really happy for you after watching this video. How good it must be to sit back in such a wonderful new studio! Enjoy!
Yeah, I totally agree with you on that. I have a motu that's over 20 years old and haven't had a problem with it at all. But I do have some friend that did have issues with there. but with any hardware, they are going to be some bad ones in there. even RME too. But for me, with the quality and price point, Motu all the way.
Speaking about 500 series racks for your desk, I've had my eye on WesAudio TITAN NG500 because it's completely recallable when using the right 500 series modules. WesAudio makes their own high quality 500 series gear that is 100% analog but can be digitally controlled using plugins that allow for analog automation!
A huge “YES” just came out when you said RME. I’ve been using Fireface 800 at least 14 years! Some minor work, hp socket, power supply issue after 10 years but would not swap it. The sound quality is superb. You will love RME products.

Do yourself a favor a get a high quality 500 rack. It makes a big difference in the sound, especially the noise floor. I'd recommend the Rupert Neve Designs 10 space rack. We have 2 of them and a cheaper 10 space and the difference is easily apparent. Good luck with the new setup! Greetings from Germany.
I feel like there is a LOT more high end in that room. Do you have to adjust your UA-cam recording thingy or is it my headphones or does that room just swallow a lot of bass???? Not a pro here. Just what I noticed. But whoa man, what a room!!! 😍😍😍

Usually those power supplies fail because of low quality electrolytic capacitors. If you replace them with good ones (e.g. Panasonic FC series) it will last much longer.

2 things: As for suggestions for a 500 series, I would HIGHLY recommend the Cranborne Audio Camden mic pres. Solid state and transformerless, which makes them arguably the most linear and transparent preamp you could find. Then, there's a "mojo" knob which gives you 2 forms of saturation options for a more "british" sound. They call the 2 kinds of saturation "thump" which produces staggeringly awesome results on bass guitar and/ or kick drum and then "cream". Which adds a vintage style bright saturation. It also has hi-z and line input, phase flip, 48v phantom power, and a HPF. All for $349!!! I have 8 channels of API 312's, 4 Neve 1073's, a UA LA-610 and a UA 4-710 twinfinity in addition to the passable pres on my digital console. I can safely say that my Cranborne's are unique to all of them and well worth 3 times the price per channel in the 500 series version. Second thing, I notice from what I've seen of your racks that you've invested a lot more time and money in outboard eq's over mic pres. Is that because you have the Neumann console and they just give you what you want? One other thing. When you look into buying a 500 series chassis, check out the Fredenstein models. I had a BAE 10 channel box that was more than 3 times the price and the Fredenstiens are great and have better routing options from one module to the next than the BAE had. Fredenstein make everything from a 1U 2 slot unit that sells for $279 to an 8 channel 2U box that sells new for $399 or the "pro" 8 channel which includes 2 VU meters and a headphone amp all for $499.
Good luck with your studio, it looks real nice. I've been using my 24AO since 8/2015 and never had a problem. Using it with 3 ADATs to give me 48 channels of analog outputs, and audio 24 in. Love you tape machine, but how do you connect to all 24 your channels, if you do? I wonder if it's the 240v, the problem with the power supply?
Could you do a video on your suggestion of the RME converters. Are the low end RME products superior to typical focusrite or other basic converter. I see some are still usb 2. My PC builder tells me my latency issues controlling VST instruments is mostly due to my USB 2 connection as opposed to USB 3 or (obviously ) Thunderbolt. Maybe an updated video for moderate to cheap gear (converters) would be in order with all the new products coming out. Thanks! Studio is heartbreakingly cool.
Absolutely Love the New Studio! I'm curious since you have complex insert chains, why didn't you go with something like a flock audio patchbay? Since they're digital, you could save alot on patch cables and control everything from the computer!

I'd love to see a video on the Gheilmetti patchbays, it's quite difficult to find info on them online. How they work, how they are soldered/connected at the back, different types of modules you can use, pros and cons, why you chose this vs TT or XLR patch bays etc
I would have liked you to play darude-sandstorm in your old studio and record it (the room) and play it in the new studio and record it (the new room). I know that's not the same as being in the room, but it would still tell us something. Obviously this suggestion comes too late. Just saying.. that's something I would have liked. So if by any chance you can replicate some recording you've done in your old room as close as possible in the new room, that might be fun!
a big congrats is in order mate...i know how hard you have worked to get this far and your dedication to it all is very impressive....hmm those monitors remind me of tektons on steroids,ha...looks like an amazing creative space!...oh and i can hear how amazing the space sounds just by the sound of your voice standing in various zones in your room...very good..now get out there and pay for it...ha ha!!!??? Ty from s.oz
Yeah which is not a solution to the problem but re buying a more expensive problem. No manufacturer is perfect. Being an early is definitely a major factor as companies can have a bad batch of products from earlier models until the kinks are worked out from revisions. I generally wait until a product has been on the market for a while. Never buy products when they first come out. Just like buying a car, never buy the first year models until the kinks and recalls were worked out.
It's just beautiful. Thx for sharing we us. How many bass traps you have there also if you know the sizes and the depth of your room thx good luck to you all the best and enjoy. Thx again.
Excellent... Can we get a slow 360 spin from the control position..? This will help me understand how that back wall works with the space. My own space is pretty small so it has a similar fix with absorption on the back wall now...
Been watching you for years now. Finally your studio looks nice and makes sense. Nice work. Like everyone else I'm waiting for details on the speakers. Good luck on filling those empty racks with some great gear very soon.

I'd love to see a video on the Gheilmetti patchbays, it's quite difficult to find info on them online. How they work, how they are soldered/connected at the back, different types of modules you can use, pros and cons, why you chose this vs TT or XLR patch bays etc
Thank you for the tour, great stuff!. I was expecting to hear Darude for the backing track lol.
RME has PSU issues aswell, just sayin...
I don't know about RME as they aren't any better. They have the same power supply failure issues too esp with their UFX. No manufacturer is perfect.
Embargo?!? Why?!? Is that why you didn't answer about the advantages of on-wall monitors?!?
It's just beautiful. Thx for sharing we us.
How many bass traps you have there also if you know the sizes and the depth of your room thx good luck to you all the best and enjoy. Thx again.
WES Audio Supercarrier II -- > for your 500series ;) nice room.
What converter do you use? My phone can’t load the whole video. I’m debating a prism ada8xr vs a ferrofish pulse 16 lmao
Excellent... Can we get a slow 360 spin from the control position..? This will help me understand how that back wall works with the space. My own space is pretty small so it has a similar fix with absorption on the back wall now...
Man, there isn’t anything about TT patch bays that’s cheap. But I would love to come visit the studio! Next time I’m in Europe…
Been watching you for years now. Finally your studio looks nice and makes sense. Nice work. Like everyone else I'm waiting for details on the speakers. Good luck on filling those empty racks with some great gear very soon.
