      The defender definitely. But the P400 engine itself is a good power train, performance wise their almost identical for this car

    I'd like to see this engine in a range rover or the velar, it delivers better performance even with 50nm less than the old V6

      it is....it launched in the Range Rover and Sport @ 19my I believe and most other models got it a year later.

    I wish NA got cool diesels like this in SUVs.
    Another cool diesel SUV NA missed out on was the V8 diesel LC.

    So for a vehicle that is 3-4db quieter than Prado and Pajero did this car seem a lot quieter than the other two when driving?

    She goes, those figures are impressive. I like the interior too. Like all 4wds from the Mother Land reliability will be the deciding factor. Resale value will probably fall faster than a sinking stone. Check prices of 10yo Rangies and various Land Rover models. Great for a business tax write off but as a long term purchase, I’ll stick with Toyota. 👍🏻🍺🇦🇺

      Presents a problem you are unable to buy a new land cruiser or hybrid Kluger as there is no stock all the allocated stock for Australia has sold out so the that leaves the Rangie and Land Rover .

      Defender is much better to drive, but LC is better as a long term daily car since it's supposedly more reliable.

    Меня так прикалывает измерение G. У чуваков машина на дыбы встает, они продольную G меряют, от которой реально продольная там будет процентов на 10 меньше, остальное это наклон сундука при старте. В высоких тачках с мягкой подвеской ощущение от 8,5-9 секунд до сотни, как в купешке от 7 секунд. И по прибору эти ощущения подтвердятся, но по факту тачка никуда не едет.

      @Cristian Selfa it is not correct to measure overloads on a car with large longitudinal rolls.
      for correct measurement, it is required to ensure that the device is horizontal relative to the ground.
      when you press the accelerator pedal, the car crouches on the rear wheels significantly and due to the tilt of the body, and as a result of the tilt of the device, the readings measured by the device contain partially the value of the acceleration due to gravity, which in this case is equal to the sine of the tilt angle of the body multiplied by an absolute value.
      in low cars with a rigid suspension, this value at the level of error can be neglected, since the car has practically no longitudinal roll.
      due to large rolls on the crossover, the readings of the g-sensor can be, at dynamics about 8 seconds to hundreds, the same as on a small roadster with dynamics about 7 seconds to hundreds

    Nice vehicle but even with that much power and torque, the Kodiaq VRS with a 2L diesel is quicker.
    Presume it's more around being useful offroad?

      @@alexclipper7608 This is a 0 to 100 kph channel, not off road, and both of these models are marketed as their diesel 7 seater performance SUVs, i.e everybody has them as on road long trip ski wagons or kid haulers where I live, so I would have thought that was fairly evident.

    Nearly identical performance from the Nissan Patrol Y62 according to pdrive's own tests. The Y62 being nearly 400Kg heavier, stops in a shorter distance too. More importantly, the Patrol is not a rats nest of 85 Arduinos connected on a breadboard waiting to go off like popcorn in a microwave. Yes, look up and verify the number of ECUs in the new Defender, it's 85. So the new Defender makes sense to those who want to seem like they're going offroad... like those who are always wearing gym clothes. Poor taste of new money and it shows. (The 2 door Defender has some excuses to exist though).

      Except the patrol drinks like a fish and the ride quality isn’t as good. Also the interior is hideous. You’re comparing a v8 petrol to v6 diesel

      Patrol is dog ugly and shocking interior. It’s budget for a reason. Also Nissan doesn’t know how to make a good diesel engine so they just stick a v8 in it. not because it’s refined but because they don’t have a clue
