Do you have the 1981 special "The Beatles - The Days in Their Life"? It's the best Beatles radio show ever produced INO. I had it recorded off the radio on a box of cassettes. Now I have a CD boot version and it fits on a microsd card the size of your thumbnail!
like to hear this tim.. if you have it to record or send.share.. Did you ever hear the hendrix ezine (magazine style) radio program in the late 80's.... I do have at least one full long cassette of it... that was another excellent of its kind.. I am solrocker blogspot
Where can I pre-order the 12 LP box set of "The Mazzy Radio Interviews"? Hope its mastered by Bernie Grundman on 180 gram vinyl as I'm all about the sound quality
Just exhumed the majority of my record albums late last year after having been buried under a pile of VHS tapes and DVDs in my rented storage space for over 25 yrs. They were stored edge on in plastic crates and fortunately did not suffer any warping from all that weight above. A lot of collectible records, including a mono copy of the Doors debut with the disk in near mint condition, the Syndicate of Sound's Little Girl album, the Sunrays' Andrea album, and a whole bunch of other original 60's through 80's LPs.
WOW so cool to see this and what a great find for you :). And now we have some tapes lol too !!!! Ok this is my kiss up O WOW JUST SO COOL AND you know I don't have that lol ... How was that :) lol yes !!! I did like it all and thanks for showing it . Take care and rock on !!!!
You had me going nuts, Mazzy. Now I wanna come by and see what else is in your garage! All those Rolling Stones interview reel-to-reel tapes - I love it!
Charlotte's Records penchant for comedy inserts got me thinking of this one, but the appropriate person to do it would be you. An Unboxing video. It lasts 20 minutes. Starts by carefully lining up the tools the small scissors the stanley knife the pen knife the letter opener the pliers, and delicately dealing with the box - - to no effect. Heavier tools applied. manipulating the box every which way to get an angle on it. Even leaving the box in view while disappearing to get a motorised tool at one point, and welding goggles. Painstakingly removing staples, outer wrapping, a cardboard flap. Then discovering inner 2nd box. Getting to grips with that. 20 minutes later, out of breath and sweating some, announcing to viewers, You know what, I'm gonna take a break and I'll get back to you on this. We've been watching for 20 minutes and we don't even get to know whatthefk's inside. Would take mucho patience to do that vid, patience both ways - - and could result in hate mail, so maybe scrap that idea.
What a shame that those tapes were hanging around for over 20 years. They have most likely disintegrated to the point where they are unplayable. My condolences.
That's quite an awesome collection! What would be even more cool is if you did a livestream broadcast of those tapes. You are correct that the cassette version of Ringo has the long version of "Six O'Clock" and yes, WGN is the news/talk radio station here in Chicago! #mazzylovesu
I have loads of reel to reel tape of music I recorded live of the radio from around 1964 to about 1970 in a box, don’t have a reel to reel tape machine, so haven’t heard them for 50 years
The eight track of "Ringo" has the long version of "Six O'clock" as well (I think). They put it as a bonus track on the cd of "Goodnight Vienna" for whatever reason. I started cleaning my storage locker when I was furloughed at the start of the pandemic. It's like an archeological dig. ✌
The cassette of _Ringo_ does have the extended "Six O'Clock", I can personally attest! Curiously, the song's time signature on the LP version matches the extended version, but is not, itself, that version.
Mazzy - I've got a 1992 CD reissue of Ringo's "Goodnight Vienna", and it includes 3 bonus tracks. One of them is the extended version of Six O'Clock. So it appears there, too, in case that was not mentioned before. I wouldn't bet against you having that particular CD!
Mazzy those radio tapes you should transfer to post on your You Tube channel would be great to hear and I am sure you can come up with cool visuals. Yes WGN-AM is Chicago ! Those Rolling Stone reels too would be great to post for historical purpose unless someone had already.
I know how you feel...came across my boxes and bags of cassettes from old. Great fun..Stopped listening to cassettes when bastards replaced tape players with CD players in cars.!!😄 Cheers...
very frickin' cool.....i would love to have cassettes of my own radio shows from back in the day....i never really bothered taping them....(who knew)......but that is the true treasure found....would love to hear you and mr. bacon...brilliant i'm sure....stay well...enjoy your time listening...peace....rocky
I too have a few cassette singles, mine are Led Zeppelin and related, that are still sealed with the price tags on them. I bought them in the early 90’s. I had no intention to ever listen to them, I just thought they would be cool to keep as collectors items.
Cool artifacts from the past! Those call letters KFMB are very familiar to me, that's in my hometown of San Diego.
MeanMrMayo will be in meltdown!
You should definitely get your deck(s) out, tape are full of surprises, they sound much better than they did these days.

Amazing! The next major hominid find will almost certainly be nicknamed, "Mazzy!" (Seattlepithecus Petasum)
What a great re discovery. Some great items. I think the first pressings on vinyl of Ringo had the longer version.
I have a tape I made of Rolling Stones King Biscuit. Kind of nice to have kept it.
😏👍
