Where some see excessive theme-length, one should deem the very nature of ritual. I for one know that, for instance, ''Hammerheart'' is probably Bathory's most popular work amongst the Neo/dark Folk clique (or at least was). It's a monument of Pagan pride, an unmistakable declaration of intents, and his actual second skin. He was quite a character - remember the 1990 promotion tour that brought Quorthon here in Portugal - there's footage of it with teenage Langsuyar and Belathauzer interviewing their master, and that's Bathistory !
The layering and effects draw me into another world, epic in scope, where the Norse gods of metal reign supreme. Love the loud exhale at 3:12. Quorthon at his genius best.
Bathory to jeden z najbardziej znaczących zespołów w muzyce black metalowej i viking metalowej, mający jednocześnie największy wpływ na kierunki rozwoju tych dwóch odmian metalu]. Wraz z wydaniem albumu Blood Fire Death a następnie Hammerheart styl grupy ewoluował w kierunku łagodniejszej muzyki, charakteryzującej się wolnymi, epickimi utworami z towarzyszeniem chórów. W warstwie lirycznej, treści satanistyczne ustąpiły miejsca tematyce nordyckiej mitologii. W tej stylistyce zespół wydał jeszcze albumy Twilight of the Gods, Blood on Ice oraz Nordland I i Nordland II. I found this album after being told to give this band a listen. It wasn't specified that I should pick this album but lucky me. It's one of the best albums I've ever heard and I found it in a bargain bin at a music store, back when those were common around 20ish years ago. You can find amazing things if you look for them.
