Love Love Love watching your videos! You inspire me to want to make dozens of different platters. Thank you Stewart. From an ex Brighton girl living in 🇨🇦!
Thanks, Jeanie! Delighted you like watching my videos and take the time to comment. Much appreciated! I've already done another version of this one, I like it so much. I guess you're living the dream in CA then - a bit warmer than Brighton and sunnier! I hope to come to US one day - the AAW symposiums look amazing!
It was really great to meet and chat at Makers Central. What a lovely chap you are. Your pieces are even more beautiful in real life, they're such an inspiration - even if I do still sit here shouting "enough, enough already" at the screen! 😂
Hi Kathryn - great to meet you too. I'm pleased you've been able to see some of my turnings 'in the wood' as the pictures never seem as good as the real thing. I hope to keep you shouting 'enough' for a long time to come 😀
You never cease to amaze me... you have an amazing eye for design and somehow know just how far to take it, your level of execution is remarkable! Your ability to make us wonder if you have any idea at all what you're doing and then voilà... you make us wonder what we were thinking! Thank You for sharing.
Thanks, Cortland - my own experience of that is just imagined....though a good friend who has tried ayahuasca found something that resonated for her in this one. Cheers!!
Purists be damned! You create beautiful pieces (of art). I love wood on its own but I also appreciate combinations of wood/metal/epoxy/glass & paint. Having worked in a major art gallery for twenty years I can definitely say your works are worth being displayed (if they aren't already). 👏👍
Wow, thanks, Ged - this has to be one of the most supportive comments I've received. I'm selling this in an Open House at the moment (if anyone buys it, that is!), but I'll definitely start contacting some galleries...Cheers!!
Hello Stewart. You never cease to amaze me as I watch I think - He's go too far!!!! - but as usual not so. I think the bowl colours and finish are fantastic. Great Work to which I can only aspire to!!!
Always a pleasure to to watch you do coloring and nice shine , sorry I can't make it to m,c, this year hope to see you in August at Chestnut show all the best,👍👍
Wow! Colourfull, complex and intricate. It reminds me of stained glass windows for some reason. There seems to be no boundaries to your imagination Stewart, excellent outcome. And I would have to agree, it’s one of the best decorated pieces yet! Thanks for sharing this technique.
Thank you, William. It was great fun doing this and sparked some more ideas along the way which I might try out at Makers Central next weekend if I'm feeling brave/reckless enough! Thanks for your appreciation! Cheers!!
Cheers, Phil! It was nice when my daughter mentioned this - reminded me of the evening we spent on Brighton seafront taking bokeh pictures of the lights of the town and the pier quite a few years ago now...
Hi Stewart, love your channel and have only just come across this one. It is a masterpiece and you should be justifiably proud. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great bowl and a great video Stewart After watching all of your videos I no longer keep shouting STOP no more because unlike all the other great artists where we only get to see the end result but with you we get to see the whole thing warts and all so thank you(If it sells please tell me how as I cant sell a thing)

Ha ha, come on over, there's enough colour for everyone...Delighted you like it. I was really happy with this one....am happy with it....wonder if anyone will buy it....not sure I really want to part with it!
Well Stewart as you said I am not sure if you did or did not know what you were doing but it looks brilliant !!!. Thanks as always for sharing your great videos Kind Regards Col

BTW, at the first appearance of the red dots I thought you were developing a type of Rorschach test. Your comments at the end of the first day didn't dissuade me. Ha ha....I'd better wait till I've given up my day job before Eddie over....Glad you liked the finishing details - I'm thinking of doing another one with cut n polish and burnishing cream to see what that's like....Look forward to seeing you at MC! Cheers!!
Lovely piece. I can see now what you were repeating at Makers Central, Did you finish it? It was great to meet you at last. Hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did.

@@stewartfurini Thanks Stewart. I'd rather have someone honestly say they didn't like something rather than the standard Well done all the time. Don't have to be brutal, can easily just say not my cup of tea. Ice cream lids sound a great idea. Just lifting them away from the work piece should hopefully give those more subtle edges rather than sharp lines.

There's a lot of data on that process, but the concensous all seem to agree you should wait a minimum of three weeks. Looking at your process it appeared that you just waited overnight. Thanks, MV
Thanks, Mike! Delighted you like it. I think the last coat of lacquer had about 36 hours drying time. It's acrylic gloss lacquer. I've not done any research about how long it's best to leave it before treating/abusing it like this. I know melamine lacquer takes at least a week or longer to fully cure. I'll have to be patient and leave one for three weeks to see what difference it makes! Cheers!!
