- Today i'm upgrading the pool pump on the intex (Bestway/coleman) above ground pool from the small pump and filter setup to the new Bestway Pool Sand Filter.
This is a pump and sand filter combo that connects into the existing components of the pool, this was an easy DIY project that took very little time and now the pool has a much better filter to clean all the dirt and muck out of the pool.

Seriously this has to be the best, easiest to understand Flowclear pump set up video I have seen, and believe me, I have watched a lot of them today. I actually feel confident enough to go and prime mine for the first time ever!

Did great job raising our pool temp by 10 degrees in about 6 days. Two of the day had high temps in low 70 and still put out almost 80 degree water.
Omg yes.. this was easy to understand. I just bought a new Pool and this is my first time using a sand filter.. I’m in the process of setting up this filter as we speak haha. Wish me luck everything goes well haha

Hello! Really great video thanks for showing us how to set it up. I really want one but my pool only has an inlet and an Putley hole and then one right at the bottom for draining the pool. So I'm not sure I'd be able to use one 😭

Has anyone found a strainer filter bag insert or a valve that will work to allow you to isolate the water going into the pump to connect a hose to for cleaning the bottom of the pool?
yes sand filter is the way to go for any size pop up pool, the cartridge filters are a complete waste of time and energy to maintain.
Im thinking to replace my cartridge filter for sand filter .. please tell me if worth it .. too much work on cartridge filter almost every day I have to clean it

Just don't use the T and have one hose to the filter.
Where did you get the grey fitting that attached the 1.5" pump hose to the outtake of the pool (at about 6.00 in the video)? I need 2 of those! Have a part name or number for me? Thankyou, its just coming into summer now, it was packed away during winter because it gets too cold for the pool in winter here, but I made sure to drain everything before packing away so it should work well again, cleaning the sand pump is a must but all the steps for that are in the instruction book. haha the dogs love the water, I just could not stop them trying to drink the water coming out of the pump drain pipe even though they have plenty of drinking water they keep trying to drink the dirty pool water.
I have a 12ft intex pool round. Do I need any different attachments? Or are they all supplied?
All the connections supplied where enough, I did use some of the existing fittings as well, but you shouldn't need to purchase any additional fittings

The sand filter is super silent.

Hi Scotty, now with new question. Since this is a plastic pool, I would like to know if you have any special recommendation in order to use specific chemicals to avoid the damage of plastic. I was recommended to use chlorine tablets in special dispenser. I read if you put it in powder presentation you can blech the pool.

The pool should work with any normal pool chlorine, Tables, or Granular Pool Chlorine. I think the pool plastic will lose its color and wear from sun damage first before Chlorine (assuming you're putting the correct amount in) Depends on how long you are using it. I don't think these pools are designed to last forever, but a tablet in the dispenser is easy
I hada homemade floating dispenser (mayo jar with holes) since I already had tablets but had thrown away or lost my old dispenser, anyway it sunk overnight and now I have a nice white spot on the bottom, so yes chlorine can bleach the color off. BTW it is Intex.

Hey, thanks. Too drain the pool I also have tried the bottom of the pool plug but it it too slow. I capped off the drain holes and placed the hose into the pool and added a weight to hold it to the bottom. Prior to this pump I had a second small pond pump that I drain the pool (the same pump I used in my diy solar pool heater video)

I thought Port d is for when you're draining water from your pool to backwash and rinse your system
So i have a 24x12x52 bestway pool. The pump that comes with it is a filter pump. I am looking to upgrade the pump. But nobody will get back to me to tell me what is compatable with my pool. Can you please help me? My pool i believe holds 8000 gallons. Thank you.

The unit I have is probably over the top but would still work, you can get smaller sizes with the sand filter that would suit better

how do you open the skimmer without water pouring everywhere?
I would put something under the hose that goes into the skimmer so it is higher than the ports on the pool, close the valve on the sand filter then open the skimmer, you only lose a small bit of water (what's in the hose between the skimmer and where its been held up) or if you cant lift the hose I placed a plastic bag over the plastic 8:02 block the port, if you are using a setup like this more as a permanent thing I would invest in a valve if you can find the correct thread for the hose ends

With my old pump/filter, like the one he removed, I had to plug one of the intake holes with the rubber nubs they have. This gave me enough pressure to send though. Also one could be used to have a pool skimmer on the side of the pool.

Bestway/coleman/intex are basically the same pools, as long as the fittings are the same then the pump in this video will work, as for other pumps, sure they will work you could use a pump from a 100m3 inground pool (extreme case) just as long as the fitting as the same or else you will need to make custom fittings or a conversion. just also make sure the hoses/pipes are rated for the water pressure if the pump you use is very large.

How long should I let the water pump work?. I read the instructions and they say water pump should not be working while there are people inside...
It really depends on a few things, size of pool (water volume), size of pump, how often you use the pool, chemicals in the pool ect... I ran mine for about 8hours per day and that seemed to work for mine. may be worth starting around that and see, if the pool isn't getting cleaned enough try run it a little longer and see if you get better results. as for this pump it has the option for 24H although I would have thought it could reduce the life of the motor if running all the time, but the pump mostly rang while I was in the pool. Its a safety thing they need to say in the manual to cover the company from any liability, as long as you are not blocking the ports for the hoses as that will cause stress on the pump and reduce life of pump or burn it out.
@@ScottyDIY Really thank you to take time to answer. This is the first pool I bought, it´s a coleman with 10,000 galons capacity. So in my case, it cames with factory water pump, which I am sorprise because it seems to work well, I mean came out with a lot of strenght (returned port), however I don´t think it will support more than 7 hrs of continue working... So as you said, I need to start to test with few hours and see how the water looks like. In other words, you are correct, it will depends how water is getting cleaned ... as I said, I read some experts recommended 24 hrs runing , I thought it was not real, but yes, that is the IDEAL time lol, since electricty bill will obviouisly increase twice or more than that is not an option. Thank you Scotty, I will send you more question in new message, by the way, I installed this kind of pool in MEXICO and it is a very good looking pool since this kind is not very common here... it is a very big pool so it attracts a lof people attention.

It’s a filter whatever is in the filter from a filter pad to sand and or charcoal etc.. all do the same thing to clean the water out some do way better then others but to answer your questions no you don’t need any extra chemicals to run a sand filter
