i just realized why he used nagini instead of the basilisk, basilisk fangs kills horcruxes, so wouldn't the very venom coursing through its veins prevent it from being created. i always thought not using the basilisk, something unstoppable that lives for thousands of years was a missed opportunity but even if it could horcruxify what happens if it accidentally bites itself.

You forgot that Voldemort is a Parselmouth, so he was the only person Nagini could talk to. During that time (IIRC), the only known Parselmouths are Harry - which he got accidentally from being Voldemort's horcrux - and Voldemort himself. Having a person she could still talk to, I believe, made Nagini held on to the hope that she could perhaps be human again.

I think Nagini's loyalty also stems from loneliness. Ever since she permanently became a snake she lost the ability to interact with humans (both in terms of communication and in terms of people fearing here). Tom Riddle being a parselmouth the probably found the first "friend" in after decades of loneliness and this is something Tom could easily pick up on being skilled in legilimency and a manipulator to use as leverage
Character of Nagini is so sad once you learn she was born human and suffered a blood-curse making her permanently non-human. But even more sad that she abandoned her humanity and dignity when she align herself with evil. Unless her brain changed, it’s just sad.
I agree with you. I think we're going to find out via Fantastic Beasts that Voldemort pretty much obliterated Nagini's free will when he turned her into a horcrux. And I'm willing to bet that prior to that, he had brainwashed her into thinking that he was the good guy, and that there is some twisted form of mental manipulation going on.

I absolutely believe this is could be a possibility. Voldemort promised Nagini a new body, or even her former body, but just to make it clear: he promised her that she would be human again, that he would find a cure, or a solution or something. And i'm sure she has given her unconditionally loyalty for that!

There were 8 horcruxes. 7 were made by Voldemort intentionally ( Nagini, goblet, diary, locket, ring, diadem and the part of his soul in Voldemort himself) and 1 was made accidentally which was Harry.

You’re overlooking one point in what might happen to Nagini by turning her into a horocrux and it is that Harry had no ill effects when he was created as one himself.

Hayd M well, horcruxes only keep the soul alive. The physical body can still be killed. I found this great explanation on the internet: A Horcrux keeps your soul tethered to this world so you do not fully die. It does nothing to make your physical body invincible. Voldemort had several horcruxes but the backfiring curse still destroyed his body the night he visited the Potter's. We know that a horcrux needs to be destroyed beyond magical repair. However that is actually ridiculously easy for a human body, as we do not have any spells that can revive the dead. Destroying the horcrux inside a human body would probably be easier than destroying an artifact that can easily be protected with more charms. So if you have two wizards. A is B's horcrux and B is A's horcrux, what happens if you kill A is that B loses a horcrux (and therefore if you kill B's physical body now, B will completely die), while A's soul is still tethered to the earth via the horcrux in B (and could be brought back into a regular body via something like what Wormtail did for Voldemort). If B is killed before A can perform a body revival thing, A's soul loses its remaining horcrux (and therefore the tether to this world) and presumably perishes.
I really hope Nagini humanizes Voldemort. As a writer, it’s important to make your readers understand the villain while also hating them and being threatened by them. In my writing, I try to write villains that are morally corrupt and are held accountable for that corruption, but also human. It would be really great to see another perspective on Voldemort’s character through the eyes of nagini because we’ve seen the atrocities he’s done. But we don’t truly understand why.
You have to remember that the general population of regular wizards (those not involved in dark magic) and no-maj humans are not completely blameless; they treated magical creatures with prejudice and fear. Other examples would be Remus Lupin (a werewolf) and Fenrir Greyback who are pushed to margins of society. Even Hagrid, a half-giant, was bullied and taught incapable of honest work, if Dumbledore had not seen his talent with animals. It is quite understandable that a maledictus like Nagini or someone like Fenrir would long for a "purer" magical society, where they would be more accepted; this was something that Voldemort promised his followers. He gave a rallying cause for the racist purebloods and the downtrodden who had been oppressed by society.
There’s something that I hope the Fantastic Beasts series explains or at least doesn’t mess up. Why didn’t Nigini tell Voldemort that Grindlwald and then Dumbledore has the elder wand? Did she never learn about the hallows? Did she never learn about the elder wand?

I really do believe now that maybe nagini hoped that Voldemort could turn her back into a human and of course the fact that he was able to speak to her. Surprisingly, Voldemort gave her respect to keep her as a friend not just a pet.

This is a very good theory. I would also add that unlike other Horcruxes, Nagini provided a form of "human interaction" that Voldemort did not have with anyone like Peter Pettigrew or Bellatrix Lestrange or other Death Eaters. Assuming that Voldemort met Nagini just before or after her Maledictus curse became permanent, she would likely have told him of her plight and Voldemort being incredibly persuasive might well have convinced Nagini that he and she could be companions and that he could help her.
I know! Some things she releases, I appreciate them, others, honestly, are a waste. I wish she’d just publish one BIG book containing all the “Behind The Scenes” knowledge and all her notes, rather than coming over and over again with her “clarifications”. It’d make things easier for her and for us, because right now, all her additions may seem useful and nice to Potterheads, but to others, it’s really capitalizing on something that already ended. I’m pretty sure all her Twitter and Pottermore “clarifications” can form one large book, maybe even longer than Order Of The Phoenix, because it doesn’t seem like she’ll stop this anytime soon.

Then was able to eventually build his strength to actually create the Horcrux needed to make the temporary body

I hate how in the movie she just exploded into black dust like voldy. It feels too fluffy, the message of the book was more like "this is reality, Tom riddle was ultimately just a man"

Hey dean! I have a question. When Voldemort first killed harry in the forest.. he could kill harry with the elder wand without the wand backfiring.. so why the wand backfired in the final dual???
I'm guessing the magic that Lilly Potter performed to protect Harry (i.e. a self-sacrifice out of love) works to protect Harry for his entire life. When Harry went into the forest, he essentially sacrificed himself for his loved ones (his friends); therefore Harry performed the same kind of magic his mother did for him; he sacrificed himself out of love and that made Voldemort's magic rebounded and failed.
It makes sense that he grew a more snakelike appearance once he put a horcrux into her. I also think it was revealed that you can’t put a horcrux into any object. You have to have a connection to it. Considering that Voldemort couldn’t love and Dumbledore said that Nagini was the closest thing to loving another that he knew. It makes sense he would want to put his soul into her.
Here is a strange though but what if the Horcurx doesn't prevent you from dying but lets a soul piece live on after death replace you. If Quirrell had one of the Horcurx and it was taking him over. In chamber of secrets the Horcurx was taking over Jenny. In Deathly Hallows the Horcurx was effecting them all when they had it on. In Goblet of fire it talks of milking Nagini that could be her poison? I think it was not because Voldemort's should fragment took over her new child. That would put the child at about 1.5 to 2 and the more snake like appearance. This would explain her loyalty and protectiveness.
The story of Nagini is a tragedy. She fought against Grendlewalt but after being trapped as a snake and lonely she befriended Riddle. With the elder wand if Riddle could become it's True master he could have hypothetically changed Nagini back to human
Kinda think they both had a very, not romantic, close relationship. Voldi probably promised her that he could make her human again, and was way on his side, before anyone else returned to him. Voldemort would never say so, but I think they got each other and were the closest thing Voldemort has to a REAL chosen friend.
I think if there one person that Voldemort had wanted to have a son with, it wouldnt be Bellatrix it would be Nagini as her human form. I think Bellatrix is jealous on Nagini coz she is always with Voldemort.

I think Dumbledore (and therefore Harry, as he gets all exposition from him) believe that the soul fragment of Voldemort inside Nagini explains everything. After all, as nobody knows the effects of creating six Horcruxes, nobody can know what the connection would and wouldn't allow for Voldemort. Not to mention that Harry, despite being a Parselmouth, never uses this ability to talk to a real snake. He only uses it to unlock things which won't open unless they hear Parseltongue. How would he knowthe amount of knowledge and vocabulary a snake would display in a conversation?
Only when the Fantastic Beast film series r done will we truly understand her evilness. Plus in Indian 🇮🇳 mythology, it wasn’t a Phoenix that was the enemy of Nagas, it was the Garuda, there’s a difference. Only from what I’ve seen on tv and pictures, garudas have human upper bodies, bird legs, heads and wings. Maybe their Indian phoenixes just like the Fenghuang is Chinese.
Only flaw is that Nagini is depicted as a reticulated python which isn’t venomous. Also if she were venomous, Weasley would be dead before any wizard or witch got to him because venomous snakes aren’t able to hold back venom that’s held in their fangs completely. They can control how much to inject usually but not hold it back entirely.

Jyotiparna Kakati well, the diary riddle would be of no use because it is technically the older voldemort himself, and because he just has a memory form. The only way to make the riddle diary come back, is by sacrificing ginny or something

I really do believe now that maybe nagini hoped that Voldemort could turn her back into a human and of course the fact that he was able to speak to her. Surprisingly, Voldemort gave her respect to keep her as a friend not just a pet.

This is a very good theory. I would also add that unlike other Horcruxes, Nagini provided a form of "human interaction" that Voldemort did not have with anyone like Peter Pettigrew or Bellatrix Lestrange or other Death Eaters. Assuming that Voldemort met Nagini just before or after her Maledictus curse became permanent, she would likely have told him of her plight and Voldemort being incredibly persuasive might well have convinced Nagini that he and she could be companions and that he could help her.

I know! Some things she releases, I appreciate them, others, honestly, are a waste. I wish she’d just publish one BIG book containing all the “Behind The Scenes” knowledge and all her notes, rather than coming over and over again with her “clarifications”. It’d make things easier for her and for us, because right now, all her additions may seem useful and nice to Potterheads, but to others, it’s really capitalizing on something that already ended. I’m pretty sure all her Twitter and Pottermore “clarifications” can form one large book, maybe even longer than Order Of The Phoenix, because it doesn’t seem like she’ll stop this anytime soon.

I believe Voldy meet Nagini at some point after he was expelled from Quirrel.... And he was possessing Snakes... Perhaps he tried to to possess Nagini at some point, our perhaps she even Let him do so.... Then was able to eventually build his strength to actually create the Horcrux needed to make the temporary body

Originally I thought the idea of nagini as a person was stupid. Then I saw this video and immediately felt I was the stupid one. You see I’ve known of the naga for years and never made the connection. I guess Rolling did.
I’m assuming that the naga snake doesn’t have the life span that Nagini did. So was it because she had been a human or because she was a horcrux that made her be as old as she was?

And the addition of Voldemort's portion of soul could probably keep her alive longer, not just defensive protection. Or it may have had the opposite effect, we may never know.

I'm guessing the magic that Lilly Potter performed to protect Harry (i.e. a self-sacrifice out of love) works to protect Harry for his entire life. When Harry went into the forest, he essentially sacrificed himself for his loved ones (his friends); therefore Harry performed the same kind of magic his mother did for him; he sacrificed himself out of love and that made Voldemort's magic rebounded and failed.

It makes sense that he grew a more snakelike appearance once he put a horcrux into her. I also think it was revealed that you can’t put a horcrux into any object. You have to have a connection to it. Considering that Voldemort couldn’t love and Dumbledore said that Nagini was the closest thing to loving another that he knew. It makes sense he would want to put his soul into her.
What would happen if a living horcrux made it’s own horcrux?

Here is a strange though but what if the Horcurx doesn't prevent you from dying but lets a soul piece live on after death replace you. If Quirrell had one of the Horcurx and it was taking him over. In chamber of secrets the Horcurx was taking over Jenny. In Deathly Hallows the Horcurx was effecting them all when they had it on. In Goblet of fire it talks of milking Nagini that could be her poison? I think it was not because Voldemort's should fragment took over her new child. That would put the child at about 1.5 to 2 and the more snake like appearance. This would explain her loyalty and protectiveness.

Kinda think they both had a very, not romantic, close relationship. Voldi probably promised her that he could make her human again, and was way on his side, before anyone else returned to him. Voldemort would never say so, but I think they got each other and were the closest thing Voldemort has to a REAL chosen friend.

The weird thing here is how Harry never realized she's a woman? I mean, do all snakes act like Nagini? Isn't she smarter than the actual snakes? I think the conversations Harry overheard between Voldy and her should reflect she isn't just a simple snake! And what about Dumbledore? If he's super smart and, since JK insists he speaks parsel (which makes no sense), how come he didn't realized that? Did he forget to mention it? It's quite an important fact for the chosen one to know! 🤔🤔🤔
I think Dumbledore (and therefore Harry, as he gets all exposition from him) believe that the soul fragment of Voldemort inside Nagini explains everything. After all, as nobody knows the effects of creating six Horcruxes, nobody can know what the connection would and wouldn't allow for Voldemort.
Not to mention that Harry, despite being a Parselmouth, never uses this ability to talk to a real snake. He only uses it to unlock things which won't open unless they hear Parseltongue. How would he knowthe amount of knowledge and vocabulary a snake would display in a conversation?

Plus in Indian 🇮🇳 mythology, it wasn’t a Phoenix that was the enemy of Nagas, it was the Garuda, there’s a difference. Only from what I’ve seen on tv and pictures, garudas have human upper bodies, bird legs, heads and wings. Maybe their Indian phoenixes just like the Fenghuang is Chinese.

Wish Nagini could come back from death like Harry because he was a horcrux. She would come back human.
Only flaw is that Nagini is depicted as a reticulated python which isn’t venomous. Also if she were venomous, Weasley would be dead before any wizard or witch got to him because venomous snakes aren’t able to hold back venom that’s held in their fangs completely. They can control how much to inject usually but not hold it back entirely.
Mr Weasley had to stay in the hospital after the bite, where is being told that the venom was 'blocking' the healing.
