HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

I just love finding scrap on the side of the road and that's exactly what I've got in this video. A bit of street scrapping today and two great bars for the stack. I thought I would shine and stamp up the copper to make it that little bit more special. So sit back check it out and have yourself an absolutely awesome weekend😆👋🏻
I just did an oven and a dishwasher.
Love your vids
I'm looking to start Smelting things down for a bigger future project. You say to email you for tips and discounts but I can't find your email on your UA-cam profile.
what happens next friday? well i just just sit back and like to watch!
Hmmm its very clean 😁
OK. I was expecting the 10mm's to be gone when you got back. Did not expect the "escape string". That was funny.
Spoiler alert!
Paint them prisoner orange to spot them easier.
That actually made me laugh out loud.
I half expected the 10mm wrench to had run away then he went to get the socket,
19:05 they are there, look at the shelf
This might sound weird, but I discovered your channel when my dog of 14 years was in the hospital. I think I binged watched a ton to get my mind off of things. Seeing your dogs always brought me a lot of joy and reminded me that there were other dogs out there living happy healthy lives.
There's also dogs out there needing a good home... 👍
@@carddamom188 ا
Your 1st mistake was letting the 10mms have fresh air. The 2nd one was turning your back on them😆
Another great video to start Friday off right!👍
Bigstackd really helped me out when I just started melting metal, the reason I needed a forge is because I always had an insane amount of copper wire going to the trash from drier and range power cables since I work at an appliance store. He gave me lots of good tips and even a discount for a forge!
Offer free pickup service as well?
@@randomvideosn0where pickup what
@@danekane7511 old appliances
Copper wire and going to the trash don't belong in the same sentence. Do you also throw away cash money ??
@15:00 no bandage on your thumb
@15:07 bandage wrapped in tape
Bigstackd: going above and beyond, even injuring himself, for our enjoyment.
I always hate the weird stares I get when salvaging stuff from trash piles. I save a lot of money cutting the cords from appliances and other electronics like vacuum sweepers since I don't have to buy that wire for projects. Same with buckets.
Since it isn't a real bandage, and since he only has it while working with the fine copper, I would guess it's for protection to keep the tiny bits out of his thumb. He isn't wearing it later.
I love the bit with the sockets and their escape rope, even the emergency one made a break for it.
spoiler
@@sand3882 yep
I expect to see them sitting on a shelf in the treasure room one day after they escape.
I love your subtle jokes through these videos. "I'll leave the lid open so you get some fresh air." 10/10
You should totally make a 10 mm socket mold and make a huge copper one brother!!!!
then it wouldnt be 10 mm lol
I laughed so much when the sockets escaped! I realized you now have more weight in metal ingots than a Trabant 601 car. Keep on melting! 😁
Hello! Thank you for your videos, it reminds me of my long career in the steel industry as a crane operator, putting cast iron into the oven. Your channel is very relaxing to watch with a lot of humor. Thank you very much for all this work and sharing. Cheers from Charleroi Belgium!
You can't start a good Friday without BigStackD melt! Thanks for always keeping us animals entertained. You're terrific as usual!
"us animals" That's so very true!!
Even before the sanding those bars turned out gorgeous! Such a satisfying aluminum pour without a divot!
great scrappage. Where you got that burger should be classified as a worldwide destination. It could attract people from around the world.
Ty big bigstackd for making me feel better I'm currently sick and I'm watching all ur vids and I'm feeling tons better keep up the amazing work
Same bloody COVID
Love it all - the tear-down, the melt, the pour, ice block, boot chuck, sock reveal, manwhich , cheers to the flag, polish/ stamp/ weigh-in/ valuation… but, bonus on the doggos this time - bath time and sharing the blanket scene - utterly priceless!!!
I enjoy it all too. Just enjoy the tear down a bit more. For some odd reason I enjoy taking things apart.
The pups are awesome.
Much love and blessings to all ❤️
Stay safe everyone 🤘😎
You gave me a chuckle when you checked each bottle temperature for the coldest 👍🇬🇧
Love the running 10mm socket gag! The escape string... Brilliant! Hope you catch them buggers!
yep those 10mm sockets are crafty little buggers. great job as always good sir. i cant drink alcohol due to it having adverse effects with my medication but i raised a bottle of Bundaberg ginger beer with ya. take care of yourself and be safe.
Fentiman's is my preferred, but I hear Bundaberg is also quite good. Cheers and good health to you!
More people should be doing what you are doing. That would really help clean up the environment. I my self feel very inspired to do the same as you are Sir!
If it weren't for bigstackD Fridays, I'd never know what day it is! Incredible how much copper came out out the smallest parts of each unit!
Awesome melt, thanks as always for sharing your day with us!
Stay warm!
(Is that cliche to say to someone who melts metal?)
;) Cheers!
I’ve been watching you for about six months. I’m SO glad I found your channel! Well done!
Thank you for this inspiring content! im sure that there are thousands like me who enjoy every single frame of your videos !
Honestly, your stamping looked pretty dang good. I have no experience as a blacksmith or anything, I just watch your videos because they are satisfying. But from the bars I have seen and held in person, no matter the material... It was never truly 100% straight with the edge of the bar.
Agreed. I do work with metal, it can be really hard to get the stamp looking good
Saw "Finally, a bit of sun" and I instantly went "and it's gone..."
Another great production my friend. The 10 mil bit gets me everytime.
Sup Big!!!! Got about 20 lbs of copper for my first opper melt this fall. Aluminum proved to be very simple and reliable. Again no video of copper yet, but I appreciate the inspiration
I think we all have experiences where the 10mm sockets just escape. It’s kinda funny that it’s the one socket you always need, but absolutely never have
Спасибо. Как всегда очень круто.
I’ll confess I haven’t watched what some may consider “a lot” of your videos. But I have watched a fair amount and I must say the part with you breaking the relays, small motors and the housings etc in the vise was soooo satisfying. Would love to see more like that of you deconstructing stuff that way and taking things apart. Awesome video as always 🤙🏼
I love your videos so much because they always make a bad week great.
Still loving the videos, especially the running gag with the 10mm sockets. Maybe a small electrical/magnetic fence would help..?
:)
Cheers!
even the emergency one escaped ;)
24:14 what a sight!
It's common here in Arizona USA to use those tumble tubs as firepits. I've seen some with awesome cutouts for air flow that glow really cool images. Tearing down an old dryer or even a washer for the metals and tubs can be a nice side gig. Awesome video man.
Did not expect to see your metal bar collection at the end.
Jesus man, that's a hell of a lot of hard work.
Good shit.
Another video to chill to for the weekend thanks to bigstackD
Tons of meltables, not just the driers! Have you ever given thought to NOT pouring out of a old mold you were going to be done with? Like that crucible thats on its last legs. Would look like a huge copper bullet tip. Could carve out the "bullet" enemy from the Super Mario games into it. lol
Bullet Bill right?
Got to watch those 10mm sockets! They disappear very quickly.
Always great to see junk turned back into RESOURCES!
The 10mm sockets that always goes missing really cracks me up and having an entire bin for them is hilarious
I'm intrigued that you can vent a dryer there directly; I've never seen that before.
Me either. Is there no heater? Strange dryers
You got both. Condenser or vented lol
Happy Friday D 😁 hope it finds you and the family well n.n looking forward to another epic friday melt n drinks n snacks with the boyos 🖤💜🖤💜🖤💜
These videos are very relaxing, Thank you!
Great job as usual, bigstackD!! 😃 Keep these new videos comin'!! 😃 I love them ALL!!!! 😃 I also love the sound of that Australian Raven in the background!! 😃
Another great video bud. Have you looked into possibly getting a flypress or hydraulic press for your stamping of bars?
Good morning from Canada 🇨🇦
Good morning from Belgium 🇧🇪
If there was ever a bloke who should own a ute, it's you. Great vid's. Keep 'em comin'.
Damn mate, the humour you put in to these vids is off the chart. I now I have found out where all my 10mm sockets get to.
Sou do Brasil e acompanho seu canal e não perco seus videos, se puder colocar legendas em portugues pra gente acompanha o que voce escreve nos videos eu fico grato. 🐕
Hey D, I was wondering. How much decibels does one of those furnaces produce? And do you ever get complaints from your neighbors?
I'm going to guess the smaller ones run at like 60db. The larger ones less and that's my guess🤓
Lol! The hell with your nieghbors!!!! I have been melting for a while and I wouldn't think about doing a day melt cause it's so awesome at nite with all the weird colors that come flying out the furnace! And mine is loud as hell too. Sounds like a jet turbine motor as soon as I open the choke on my burners!!! Just be safe and if your worried about disturbing the nieghbors,,,melt something cool and take it over to them as a gift. Im telling you, when they hold a polished ingot of any kind of metal they will be on your good side for ever!
It is amazing how much scrap metal is in these appliances. That thing with the 10mm sockets was funny, the escape string was priceless. Thanks for the fun ☺☺☺
Also loved the dog wash break. Those good boys are so cute.
I seriously just love this channel. So under rated. Can't stop laughing at the 10mm bit. Glad you gave them fresh air!
Yeah well they’ve gone missing again and if they’re not back before I move in a few weeks they gonna be coming back to an empty garage 🤔
@@bigstackD 🤣🤣. Can't wait to see the new place!
What surprises me is that despite your biker like looks,(tattoos, sculls etc), you seem to like classical music when driving🤔
Absolutely beeeautiful. Thanks for the vid from NZ
I don't know about everyone else here but I come more for the puppies. They always make my day seeing them.
As always a great video I learn something every time thank you for sharing and so close to the goal can't wait five stars brother
Favorite subscription. Great job!
Love the videos. Watching you pull the thousands of feet of Fine copper was funny to watch as it just never ended.
Three scorching days in Chicago, thanks big stack d for some RnR . I'll relax to while enjoying your latest.
You deserve a comment for the extra 10 mm bit. I laughed out loud. Thanks
The 10mm socket drama!! 😂 love these videos!
I have no idea why these videos are so satisfying, but they have me hooked...enough were I just built my own forge. 🤪
Escape string was hilarious.🤣👍
This channel has taught me that copper wiring is in everything
Those 10 mm sockets are always on the run!
I find more comfortable working in the cooler weather. Nice pours!
I love your videos, it's like meditation 🧘♂️ for me
Really cool as usual. Thank You!
I really enjoyed the dogwash interlude! They are handsome spoiled fellows!
man you are living every man's dream keep it up!
I went to look up a recipe for cupcakes and somehow ended up here and I DO NOT REGRET IT. Just wow! New subscriber
the vice is one of my favorite underrated scrapping tools
Great video! Cute pups! And them dang escaping 10mm sockets lol
Thanks for your channel. Your knowledge is very helpful. I must admit.. it is the pups that I love.. 😍
You are so welcome! thanks heaps for the donation I really appreciate it👊🏻😁🇦🇺🐾🐾🍻
Awesome copper bar and aluminum bar thanks for sharing bigstackd
Loved the safety glasses tip!!
Very cool process from street to ingot 👏👏
Ayyy. Was just writing some science fiction to post on HFY and this beauty dropped. Perfect thing to accompany a spot of creative meanderings.
This is therapeutic to watch. I really wanna get into this
man I been watching your channel FOREVER!! THAT BURGER LOOKED DANK!
I wish I could 👍👍this, just for the dedication to the 10mm socket gag! 🤩
Nice, you are upping your cinematography!
This is the most therapeutic viewing in the world
👊🏻😁
10mm escape. Hi....lari...ous! The smile I needed to start my long day. Thanks
Woah. This was a beast to take apart. What a treasure trove though. Great vid!👍🏻
My usual Friday morning coffee and BigstackD. Love it. Been an extremely wet Summer in Florida. 2+ inches per day for most days out of the past 3-4 weeks.
Gotta put them 10mms on a leash or build a kennel for them. Can't turn your back on them. They're just as wild in the States.
I would love to moved there, just for the burgers. That's a really good looking burger.
i love the tear downs,, and wire stripping
I like all the cool angles in your shots - really an entertaining channel. Yo
I think it would be cute for when you hit your target amount if Bullion and Ingot were in little dragon costumes. Your collection is giving off some serious dragon hoard vibes. Stay safe and stay awesome💜
I saw some more of these in your storage area. Ide be very happy to see those ripped apart and melted😊
Straight out the mold, That was one right purty Al bar sir!
I just got a pair of really expensive headphones. This is the best time for me to have found your channel
Laughing! The antics of the 10 mm sockets have returned love it 🏆
Epic video as always brother.
One of your best yet!
That was a truly satisfying thick aluminum melt. Very next scene was just a cinder block in the garage but my eyes were weirdly fix that it was making some optical illusion to me.
For some reason everything looked like some plateau with bottom right of the screen being a chunk chipped off. When you placed mold on it my brain was like "thank you" because I was in a weird trance.
We're having a very dry summer here in Virginia, my garden is pathetic. Thanks so much for the great vid! Enjoy your winter, it'll be burning got before you know it.
You got a beautiful aluminum ingot today.
Junk to $..love it man! Gotta get to that 1 ton mark! Great video and thank you for the information. 👍
